Arsenal Thread

FA Cup day today :D
Hope Arsenal will win!
Walcott starting as center striker which is interesting!
Szczesny in goals which honestly I don't like
He was alright in the semi but shouldve done better regarding the goal

Overall I'm happy with the line up bench looks strong too which can change the game if needed

Kinda weird Arsenal being in yellow today

Imagine starting Charles NZogbia in a final...

Tactics Tim eh?

Arsenal been good, but man Villa have been woeful. Hopefully this'll put little Jack Grealish back in his box, he's looked a child out there - hurting his team with stupid selfish play.

ARsenal should walk this. Can't believe how poor Sherwood have set up Villa.

:D 4-0 Wow it was a great match
everyone played well it was a perfect performance very entertaining
Arsenal scoring 4 and for villa not to have a shot on target was great
tactics wise was great villas main men were never really in the game,
arsenes decisions for the lineup and subs were spot on
it could have 5 6 or even 7

overall really pleased and glad arsenal won today because it was pressure to retain the cup

Its hard to pick the best player today because everyone just played so well

I can't believe it. I have turned the match off in 91st minute and they score yet another one :D

I liked how Arsenal played today, though seems like they have a thing for AV this season. 3-0-0 with goal difference 14-0 (including today's match)

12x winners!
we retain the FaCup!
we qualified CL spot!
we won community shield!
we had a proper improved from last season performance.

We destroyed AVFC - Alexis`s stunner took everything from them.

Th^s!! :APPLAUD: bringing it, back home lads! \0/

Brilliant win and goals.
Wenger = specialist in FA Cups.

Villa were pretty weak, but our boys capitalised on that, so credit to them.

PS: Per has a knack for scoring at finals, doesn't he! If Germany played him in the final I think they wouldn't have needed extra time to beat Argentina :D

I'll say it but you guys are finally really close to a title winning team, this summer is massive for you because I think United and City will be much stronger a year from now if you stand still.

Wenger will be spending. Maybe a coincidence here, but in 2013 he splashed the cash on Özil and ended the draught and got the FA Cup 2013-14 trophy. In 2014 he splashed it on Sanchez, ended up with the FA Cup 2014-15 again. Seeing the pattern here, this somehow vindicates what people were crying out for: spend!

Now we need 1 or 2 superstar players if we're really gonna complete. I hope Wenger goes for the calibre of people like Cech as GK and Cavani as CF. We need players in this bracket to fill those positions, otherwise we might as well not even spend the money. The quality of the players must be outstanding (better than what we have now) as Wenger likes to say himself.

I'd highly encourage Arsenal to get a solid DMF too and if Wenger wants to stick to Coquelin, then get a proper Coquelin cover. A peer or equal, to fight head-to-head for that spot in the 1st team.

What we don't want to see is Arsenal going into the season with only Coquelin as a recognised DMF. Arteta won't cut it anymore, and it's just not acceptable to use Ramsey in such a defensive role as he did when Coq was unavailable. Using Cazorla or Wilshere as that deep sitting midfield is out of the question. So, a DMF is still a need I hope gets addressed.

I agree the business Arsenal does in the summer window will be hugely important for our fate in the league. We need that bit of consistence during the whole season if we want to win the league again.

There has been talk of Arturo Vidal. But I'm not sure he would be a very good addition or one we would need at the moment anyway.

#All the best to Cech. Long time without stability in that position and another great gooner move to get the Premier League

Wait! is this happening...Mou letting Petr join The Arsenal! I read a few weeks back Mou complimentary Arsene Wenger as a coach.

GK: Cech, Szcz, Ospina. Looks like we brought Cech in and Ospina is on his way out. I hope Cech has a few years left in him to be performing at the top level.

LB: Nacho, Gibbs. Arguable if champion quality, but good enough. Doubt will get any replacements.

RB: Monreal, Debuchy, Chambers, Jenkinson (?). Monreal came in real good last season and Debuchy was a Wenger signing so I doubt we'll be looking for anybody in this position. I have a feeling we won't be calling Jenkinso back either.

CB: Per, Koscielny, Gabriel, Chambers. Per looked shaky at times last season. I think this should be one of the areas of improvement if we want to challenge.

DMF: Flamini, Arteta, Coquelin. Flamini definitely looked past his prime last season. Arteta has never been a natural DMF anyways and he's also too old to expect anything from him besides being a good squad player. Coquelin came through good last year, but he's surely not enough by himself to cover this crucial position. Wenger needs to bring in a top DMF that will share time with Coquelin.

MF: Ramsey, Wilshere, Arteta, Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky. We got enough passers with playmaking and attacking prowess. Shouldn't be looking at anything here.

WF: Walcott, Ox, Sanchez, Welbeck, Gnabry. I think this another one of our stronger positions. Especially considering Sanchez is one of the best players in the world. If we wrap up our DMF, CF, CB transfers, I wouldn't say no to somebody like Reus however.

CF: Giroud. I think this is another spot we need to upgrade. Giroud is a fantastic player imo. He's very beneficial to our 'attack as a team' style as he brings down a lot of balls, makes a lot of good one-twos, etc. However, when he's low on form he can waste so many sitters. The Monaco game comes into mind. I think we need to bring someone who has slightly better finishing if we want to challenge this season.

1. DMF
2. CF
3. CB
4. RB/LB
5. WF

You totally overlooked Bellerin

IMO if he keeps that form he will keep Debuchy out of the first team and things don't look too good for Jenkinson right now. Shame, cause he's a Gunner for sure, but there isn't space for him in the squad as it stands. He probably will extend his loan at West Ham.

Welbeck I'd consider as a CF, not a winger. But I agree we gotta have a star center forward if the opportunity presents itself.

Petr Cech will be a massive addition if confirmed. Still one of the very best keepers in the world IMO.

I guess Ospina was signed with long term plans in mind, but Wenger probably didn't expect Cortouis rapid accension and Cech's sudden availability just one year later.
So it's an opportunity buy and it massively upgrades us at the GK department.

Ospina might move to Fenerbahce for a very similar fee we bought him for.

Can't see all the fuss around Arsenal.
Everybody saying they played a very good season...

IMO they missed a massive opportunity to compete for the title.

Next season both City and United will be better (and Everton too, not that they are serious contenders, but usually they threaten a few of the big clubs).

Arsenal will end 4th at best.

Cech is a legend, but is he really that much better than Ospina? Doubt it.

Cech is an excellent GK but it will still be interesting to see how he does behind a lesser defensively sound back 4 and less defensive team overall.

that sentence, you must of typed, for the sake of it

BREAKING: ARSENAL AGREE CECH FEE

Sky sources: Arsenal agree £10.9m fee with Chelsea for goalkeeper Petr Cech.
:D

Anyways I kinda feel sorry for Ospina because since he and Coquelin came into the first team a lot changed, I wished Ospina started for the entire of last season as things couldve been different
Ospina is a really good keeper the stats of the games that he played are very good has hardly made any major mistakes
Only one was vs swansea but the entire team wasn't playing at their best

but then when I think about is Cech better than Ospina
I would say yes, and its something in some ways surprising and hopefully wenger will be like that in other positions

Szczesny is good but he just makes blunders every season and goes off who knows where but it would be interesting to see if the goalie coach will follow cech to arsenal maybe that could help Szczesny and improve him

but i would rather have szczesny leaving than ospina

other positions main thing is for me is a top striker
giroud is good he has done well for arsenal but for me he isnt good enough to win the big competitions also he seems to go off the boil when we really need him

i would like to see gabriel partner with koscielny as the two cb's
because the games he played he done well i think he's better than mertesacker

These numbers tell you everything you need to know about Cech, Ospina and Szczesny. Especially who Arsenal should let go:

I've seen Arsenal fans, bloggers, pundits alike saying Szczesny has got more potential than Ospina - but I'm just not sure how? Szczesny's 25 years old already, it's not as if he's a kid. Great keepers show more than just promise at this stage and Szczesny hasn't really established himself as a solid keeper.

Of course, we're judging Ospina on the strength of just one season (when he played half of it as a starter). So maybe he isn't all that either.

It's a tough choice between those, but saying Szczesny has more potential is a bit silly - he's 25 and Ospina's 26, they got almost the same amount of potential. Szczesny got the physical attributes much taller, but he's a nervous wreck. Ospina on the other hand shows an impressive maturity, he seemed really calm even under pressure.

Anyway, the only certainty here is that both of them will have to make way for Petr Cech.
Still waiting for it to be announced!

I think a lot of the people who want to keep Szczesny also consider the fact that he's an academy player, which means he's home-grown which is also an advantage. Besides that, he's a true Gooner too. So sentimental value weighs in too.
