Arsenal Thread

You totally overlooked Bellerin

Haha. Whoops. It looks like I wrote Monreal, when I was thinking of Bellerin. I definitely agree he might keep Debuchy out of the squad. Honestly, I have not seen much of Debuchy at Newc or Arsenal, so I cannot rate him. However, I was amazed by Bellerin from the first moment I saw him running down the flank on his first game. His unexpected goals were just the cherry on the pie.

Also, It is very interesting that 2 of our most critical players last season came out of necessity.

I think a lot of the people who want to keep Szczesny also consider the fact that he's an academy player, which means he's home-grown which is also an advantage. Besides that, he's a true Gooner too. So sentimental value weighs in too.

Never under estimate the power of after game selfies!

Some interesting numbers in there, although some of the info we can totally disregard. How on Earth people calculate this "Concentration" attribute?

Very surprising to see Szczesny with a higher pass completion. I suppose they're counting only real passes, not punts forward. Because Szczesny's punts forward seem less accurate than Ospina's, which are more like long balls trying to find Giroud's header.

Also surprising to see how Ospina has more crosses claimed and punches clear in those last 6 years - this is exactly what people call his weakness.

Numbers wise, Ospina's stats are pretty good even next to Cech's. On one hand, he was playing in Ligue 1, less competitive maybe - but on the other hand, Cech had strong defensive systems in front of him most of the time.

Ospina's numbers from the league aren't "accurate" in the sense that he played in a different league the previous two seasons. The physicality of crosses in La Liga is a lot weaker in comparison to the English game. For example, De Gea didn't have that problem when he was in La Liga, but once he came to England, that was a massive weakness he had to work on.

I do really hope that Arsenal can keep Ospina
Like to have Cech and then Ospina as backup would be massive

Interesting rumors regarding Vidal
He would be another fantastic signing, hope its true
Sounds like it with Khedira going to Juventus could that be the replacement?
Although we wont hear anything until after copa america or earlier if chile goes out, but i hope chile will win copa america it'll be nice for them

Apparently the Cech deal could be announced on Monday
Although personally I think it'll be Wednesday since its when the transfer window actually officially opens

Welcome to The Arsenal!

Delighted that Petr agreed to join. One of the best goalkeepers to have ever graced the Premiership and still with some years in good form ahead of him surely.

I guess- Szceny knows where he stands lol "remove your lips from my arse I need to sit " says Petr.

Wojciech Szczesny said:
Petr Cech, welcome to Arsenal FC!
Delighted to have a chance to learn from one of the best GK's in the world!

Petr Cech, witamy w Arsenal FC.

...and lesson number one from Petr would go like this:

"Refrain from smoking anywhere, either alone or in public and especially at the club's facilities. And most of all, especially when you've just lost a match. ESPECIALLY when the defeat was your fault!
Do that and you're en route to doing the bare minimum not to look like a total fuckwit.
That's the end of lesson 101 on professionalism. See you next week, sonny"

Sanchez scores the winning penalty for Chile
Congrats to them for winning copa america :)

Sad to see Podolski go, wish he was given maybe a better chance as a striker
He's a fantastic finisher but just lacks other parts to his game

Anyways not as many rumors recently but with copa america over now
it'll be interesting to see what transfers will happen

Alexis taking his penalty that way as the decisive kick in a final. Balls of steel!

Congrats to him and Chile! Really happy for them to win the Copa America for the 1st time and doing so at home.

This will do wonders for Alexis too. He will be tired for pre-season but feeling extremelly accomplished.

I guess he won't. Will he stick to Giroud and Welbeck? We could do with a world beater no.9 centre forward, but there aren't many available.

And the DMF of course. Coquelin did great but I think we might need something more there. Schneiderlin has been a target for Man Utd but Koeman said their bid wasn't serious. I wonder if Wenger's would be.

Now that we sorted out the GK position those are the only positions where we need signings: CF and DMF. A natural DMF to start ahead of Coq or at least be his cover (we need depth there and I don't mean Arteta improvised again as DMF). And the CF only if he's superior to Giroud and Welbeck. We don't need more of the same that we've already got.

Personally I don't see any need for us to sign players like Pedro and Goetze. We're teeming with wingers and playmakers in this squad and I just don't see any space for more.

That never stops Wenger of buying more of the same. Whose knows what Wenger is thinking, he`ll think w/ Cech at the back the whole defense is sussed.Whether he buys another attacking player or not we`re in good stable cruising ship!

Looks like he's going to Fenerbahce.

We should also look into Carvalho from Lizbon for DMF. He was great during the world cup and I was writing him then as well. He was also very impressive again in the u21's.

I do not know why we did not get Jackson Martinez. Some other names to look at; Cavani, Lacazette, İbra, Kane, Rondon, Chupo-Moting, Enner Valencia, Gomis, etc. :P

Haha but wait, I said world beaters!
Grey haired wanker is going to join Podolski at Fenerbahce I guess. If he's surplus to requirements even after United didn't renew Falcao, then it tells you all you need to know.

As for the DMF there was a lot of this talk about William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.

Out of all the CF names tossed in here, I think only Cavani and Ibrahimovic would be improvements on what we have.
With Podolski gone, our no.9 shirt is vacant. A great signing to wear it would be pretty awesome.

Podolski @Gala , RVP joins Nani @Fener .
Btw this preseason has loads of top players (starting XI) joining . What joy for fans abroad \0/

Schweinsteiger to Man U. Schneiderlin seems to also be headed there. We passed upon Khedira on a free as well, which I did not lament so much because he is 30 and been injury-stricken for a while. But it makes you question, is Wenger really trying to sign an enforcer to double Coquelin or not?

Vidal is a fantastic player, but I do not think he brings a physical defensive presence. I don't know who else that "major signing" could be. Maybe Ibrahimovic? Would be a nice surprise.

It is interesting the tweets by Muzzi Ozcan
because a lot of the stuff he said comes good
he tweeted about deals first before anyone else
so he does seem to be a decent source of info

wonder who it is! :)
