Arsenal Thread

If you go back you'll see me saying Sagna was one of the Arsenal players that most impressed me this season. That was long before there was any mention of him moving up in the world ;)

I was just joking mate. I think Debuchy and Sagna are about even. To be honest, I think Wenger just sees Debuchy as a temporary right-back before Jenkinson or Bellerín are ready.

debuchy is also a versatile player. and tbh, I'd rather see him in mf instead of flamini.

If Arsenal get Sanchez, I can see them being serious title contenders next season.
He really is that good.
Coupled with keeping your players fit, Arsenal will be my 'tip'

We still desperately need a new striker and holding midfielder. I like Giroud but he can't last an entire season. We need a holding midfielder because Arteta and Flamini get caught out against better teams. A right-back to replace Sagna too obviously, but Debuchy seems to be almost done. New second goalkeeper will be needed too.

I'm hearing Campbell may be involved in the Debuchy deal, I really hope not. We should loan Sanogo out and keep Campbell. Maybe get Rémy and I'll be relatively happy about our strikers. Giroud, Campbell and Akpom with Sánchez as an alternative aswell sounds good to me.

I reckon this line-up is realistic.

With these players on the bench:
Goalkeepers: New second GK, Martínez
Defenders: Vermaelen, Pleguezuelo, Jenkinson, Monreal
Midfielders: Diaby, Wilshere, Rosicky, Arteta, Flamini, Cazorla, Zelalem
Strikers: Rémy, Akpom, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gnabry, Podolski, Campbell

Debuchy is decent. Sagna had been great and solid at defending, but he's ageing and left us anyway. No need to keep comparing. If we're to compare, we should pit Debuchy against Aurier.
Aurier seems to put in the best crosses, all 3 players included, but he's not as good at defending from what I saw.
I think Debuchy is the most balanced player, considering age, defending and offensive abilities.
Aurier is very young (impressive at his age) but would be on the same bracket as Jenkinson - and we don't want to halt Carl's progress. I can see him becoming really good indeed.

Sanchez together Özil, Ramsey, Walcott and Cazorla is a mouth watering prospect.
We should get him, Joel Campbell back from Olympyakos and perhaps another opportunity signing. Giroud is already an out and out striker, so is Yaya Sanogo, who is our sort of 'plan B' striker, as seen in the FA Cup final.

Big task ahead of Wenger this summer. We need 2 centre halves too (if Vermaelen stays, we'd need 1).
Keepers are needed.
And finally, the fabled holding midfielder. Flamini can't play all games (his habit of piling up cards prevents him from doing so anyway). There had been talk of Lars Bender again. Would love if that happened.

I don't know about you, but I'd go for De Bruyne too. Arteta's performances are plummeting and he was never a proper DMF (although he filled admirably for a while).

Im happy with Debuchy, I think he will do well for us.

sanchez I am delighted with, i am crossing everything that it happens.

If we can get bender and say Remy then it would be great. Pray that our defence and szcz stay fit ;-)

But to get Sanchez, Debuchy, Bender and Remy we are looking at around 75mill I reckon altogeher, hopefully we have the balls to spend that.

tbh every player coming from abroad needs a season or least half a season to adjust. I think Theo is going to be a much better player along w/ Ramsey! I admit bigger players does put perspective to squad players and they play above their norm.(galvanize innit)

You think Arsenal are serious contenders w/ Sanchez? We were the biggest contender for most of (last) season. I think the most critical window is in the winter. Ozil has to improve!

Which player coming abroad made an instant impact...long term? (1st season) .I don`t think Cesc is even going to hit the ground running either.
I do predict the lowest point ever for the winner 80-84pts to clinch the title. The race for 4th will be by goal difference too.

Personally I've been pretty dissappointed with Ozil. Absolutely world class talent, but feel like he doesn't really apply it. Could be a fitness issue, or mentality?

However, I think with Sanchez coming you then free up Ozil to be an impact player - which is what he was best at with Madrid. Only really need to be involved for at most 60 minutes - that's when he's at his best.

You still need a better second choice striker, but the options behind him are bordering on crazy: Ramsey, Wilshere, Corzola, Ozil, Walcott, Ox, Sanchez.

Actually if you get Sanchez, please accept our cheeky bid for the Ox. :)

I will be annoyed if you get Sanchez. We will have messed up on not going for Fabregas and Sanchez when either were within our means. SO far we've bought well but they're players that won't make a huge difference to us. We have 2 backups in Sagna and Caballero (and even if they win their battles to be in the starting 11 they on't make a huge difference) and Fernando will be a player for the occasion (ie. big PL/CL games and some tricky away games) rather than a starter. Only the potential CB signing will go straight into the side and (hopefully) improve us. I just feel we needed to shake things up a bit in an attacking sense too.

I suppose it is underwhelming for City fans to only see squad players arriving after the last few years. I think Pellegrini is quite happy with what he's working with at the moment though.

Honestly don't think City can complain too much about their squad strength, even if they signed no one! Rather stocked how it is, possibly CB aside.

But we're standing still relative to rivals like Chelsea, Arsenal and (potentially) Utd.
It's not too dissimilar to the summer of 2012 where we ended up failing to retain the title. Not quite as bad because we're signing better players this time around and not losing an important impact player like Adam Johnson (tho fuck knows how Yaya will perform) but then there was only 1 rival in Utd.
You need to strengthen whilst on top. Time will tell whether Benatia/Mangala will be enough.
I worry for us if Aguero can't get his muscle injuries sorted out. Without him we have hardly any pace up front. Sanchez could have filled that void.

We just spoke to Wenger here, deal is as good as done with Sanchez! From the horses mouth!

I`m hearing only £28m \0/ good for a 25yr kid

@RobinVanKloezej: Wenger has made a £26.5m bid for Sami Khedira, only issue is player wants £8m per year. Talks ongoing. #afc

Arsenal aren't messing about : Debuchy, Sanchez, Remy n now Khedira !

Fuck yeah! Sanchez. Welcome to the Arsenal, amigo!
Top notch signing Wenger!

Henry:Arsenal.... what are they smoking at the Emirates? Suarez wouldn`t want to play there? Our club is bigger and better...why go there?

BR: We made Suarez who he is today! You ,Alexis could be next!
ALexis: ....aand jew are? I go to beach now (Brasil)..ok bye!

Might be able to move Ozil into the hole, flanked by Walcott and Sanchez. Would remove your issue that Giroud has no pace to lead the line. Two fliers flanking the target man and vision man.

you wouldn`t put cazorla in?

We`re finishing REmy too! Im not sure how good he could be...players can shine differently at certain clubs. Wenger w'd probably have Remy a super sub or on the wing.

Arteta might be off to Fior. Khedira is a possiblity and the Colombia GK is on his way too.

Looks like a good summer.

Cazorla will get plenty of games, you can play him or Ozil in the hole.

We will have a strong bench for sure.

defence is still a worry though back up wise.

wtf we just get bodies in

Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague 3m

As well as Debuchy, AFC about to finalise a loan deal for Manquillo. Both for the right back position. Not huge names but clever picks
Details
Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague 2m

Manquillo (At M) has been a regular international with the lower Spanish sides. Good defender, likes 2 go forward. AFC got option 2 buy him

We were the selling club , now Barca /RM are our selling :P and add Atletico to the list.

Jenko must be leaving to Newsc :P

what`s going on BOB?
