Arsenal Thread

Both teams made changes but Arsenal lack the quality in depth.

Most teams lack the depth of Chelsea and Man City to be fair :PP

I don't think Chelsea were much better than us, but hey we're more solid. The mistake by Jenkinson just had us on the back foot and Matas goal was great.

Defensively we weren't great and the ball over the top nearly caught us out a few times. We did lack that killer touch, but Chelsea were well drilled at the back and just sat back after the 2nd and we couldn't penetrate.

But sayin that I was surprised at the selection, I didn't think we would start with such a strong team so I was hoping to do better and a bit worried that our players will be a bit tired for the liverpool game, even though we have a decent time to recover.

Anyway not to fussed we are out of that cup but it is still diss appointing none the less.

We have to win against liverpool (which will be very tough) to get back on track, otherwise it's not going to look good with Dortmund and Man United coming up!

Let's hope they can step it up.

True that, we have important people out injured. Plus Flamini has been essential this season. I wonder when him and Arteta will be back (for how many games was Arteta banned?)

The Liverpool match will be huge and if we get the 3 points it will be a massive boost, leaving us at the top with a more comfortable gap between us and them.

However I'm truly worried about when we face Chelsea in the league. I think that's where our weakness lies. Chelsea has a defensive system capable of holding Barcelona, so why on Earth our plan A possession football should work on them? Especially under Mourinho. Battering their asses 5-2 at their place when Villas Boas was there is one thing, but this team under Mourinho is a totally different animal, and they're ruthless too.

So I just hoped Arsene would encourage our more capable offensive players (Giroud, Cazorla, Özil, etc) to take the responsibility upon themselves and shoot more at goal. We have to be more incisive, and that will keep them in their back foot too.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but this is my biggest concern when we face seasoned, hardened and well drilled defences. We won't be tikki-takkaing our way to rip their defence like we did to Norwich, that's for sure!

Great result :)) a few hairy moments, but we were the better team and in the end got a clean sheet against a couple of the best strikers in the league.

Ramseys goal was great also and Santi seems to be getting better with each game.

and most importantly we go 5 points clear :DD

It's kind of ironic and scary to think what the Arsenal in current form would be with RVP back in the mix. Your team atm would provide a hell of a lot better service to him than we re doing atm.

I'm ready to believe you have a chance to take it this season.. If and only if they don't get bit by the injury bug.

We already have an injury bug Flamini, Walcott, Podolski, The Ox, Gnabry, Diaby ;))

If we can get a result against Man United then I will start to think it is possible, especially now they are getting back in form, it would be a big psychological barrier for us.

We control the game and should of buried more goals in, Suarez is like a mosquito. You never know where he`s at any given time. We have to give praises to our backline. We faced the best attacking 2 imo in BPL and keep them tight. :APPLAUD:

Its good being at the top for a few a weeks:SMUG:

If and when we get all these players back, and no have more injuries, our bench is going to be solid. Can't wait for that.

Yeah right. What about this then:
YouTube - Aaron Ramsey Goal Vs Manchester United YouTube

This was when he was shit. What about now? I reckon Ramsey will get a hat trick against United

Well today it was a big big performance. Ramsey is in an incredible run of form and our pair of CBs were celebrating at the end like they should, after getting a clean sheet against a pair of the meanest strikers in the league (although Szczesny was clowning around, the fucker, tried real hard to give away the goal in the end).

Like I said, I will begin to believe it when we beat United and at least draw against Mourinho's Chelsea. Against the other teams I know we can do alright, so if we can do decently against the top contenders we have a shot at it!

Well these next two months are going to give us a great indication of how well we might do.

In December I think we have Everton (H), then our crunch game against Napoli (A), then Man City (A) then Chelsea (H).

With this current little period with Dortmund, Man United and Southampton as well, it is very tough, but if we want to be up there at the end of the season then we need to do it.

To be honest unless we are 1st in middle of April by 10 points or so, I still won't believe we will win it :PP

If we can get a draw against United Away, then that would be great, but the way United are playing now (I knew they would get back to form when we played them!) and being away, to get a point will be tough in itself. Then it is all open again.

It is going to be a good season no matter what :DD Hopefully it will be close until the end (If Arsenal don't win it, if we win it it would be nice by lots of points ;)) )

My Congratulations, Gunners-fans, this season Arsenal looks just Amazing. To be honest, I'm amazed. Many have criticized Wenger for his transfer policy before the start of the season, but in the end it turned out that Arsene really "the Cunning fox", Bravo. :D Would be great if Arsenal do not slow down and will be able to repeat the result of season 2004, just exactly 10 years. Good luck, Gunners! ;)

wow. time flyes...

Great result for us at Goodison Park! Now we stand 5 points ahead of the pack. Hope we can keep it up!

Thanks man!
But Arsenal can't finish unbeaten anymore, because we lost to Villa in the first round :P

BTW Artem, how are Arshavin and Hulk doing at Zenit? I haven't been able to catch many Zenit matches.

Oh, mate, they're just amazing now!

Hulk, though in the beginning he couldn't quite fit into the game of team, but now every game he shows more and more what he's a great player, both in terms of the individual, and team. It is undoubtedly one of the leaders of our club. Many football fans even began to talk about the dependence of Zenit from this player ... Well, truth in that there is. :P

Arshavin, well, this is the case when people say that talent is not lost, Arshavin certainly also in good order, no, even more, he experiences a second youth! I think you will not believe me, but in Zenit, he also become one of the leaders of the team, he plays full 90 minutes, fights and intensifies attack, in short doing everything as then, when he only came to Arsenal. In short, he is trying very hard and brings a lot of good to the team. I think if Wenger used it correctly, then Arshavin certainly would have brought a lot of good for your club.

Well, once again good luck to your club in EPL and in Champions League, there we can meet you, I think, Arshavin will be happy to hit the gate of his old club. :D
