Arsenal Thread

Again great stuff from Arsenal, the first goal was fantastic and to be honest they were all nice goals.

this is the statement we needed and I am slowly starting to believe that something can be possible this season.

BUT.........there there are still large portions of games this season where we let the other team come back into it. We really haven't played many big games apart from Spurs and Napoli and I can't help but feel that if we do that to better teams then we will be punished.

Dortmund will be a big test home and away and the next few fixtures in general will give us a better picture of what we can achieve this season.

Saying all of that, it has been a long time since I have seen Arsenal play with this confidence and quality and and even if we let a team play we have lots of outlets and players that can change a game in a second and that is priceless.

Long may it continue! that first goal was beautiful :DD

What a brilliant performance! Not perfect, as Bobby said, I agree there were parts of the game when the team didn't click and we were awful early in the 2nd half, when we could have conceded an equaliser.
The game went our way instead and what happened next was an impressive display of firepower.

All goals were beautiful but the Wilshere's and Ramsey's were the best. Ramsey is in such a form, that it makes all the difference. He looks like a whole new player compared to 2 seasons ago. There was a passage of play when he did a cheeky 360 turn past 2 Norwich defenders and then laid a perfect back heel to Özil. That was brilliant! That and his goal, it looked like Georgie Best reincarnated! :D

To me, that was a performance of a young man who's clearly enjoying his football.

We still have Ox, Theo and Podolski to return. No doubt we're looking good and this team definitely deserve any silverware this season. Any will do. Arsene's work with this squad up until this point cannot go without reward!

I'd just love to see a bit more focus from this team and a bit of that killer instinct that we saw 9 or 10 years ago. Or that kind of instinct that Ferguson succeeded in passing on to his players at United, whereas the team won't relax and let go despite winning 2-0, 3-0...

Today the worrying signs were when we were 1-0 up and Norwich looked like they could score and we only got out of it because of a moment of brilliance on a counter attack, not because we could weather the storm at the back (which I don't think we could for much longer).
Having said that, our defence looks much better and steady right now, compared to the shakiness witnessed in 2010 and 2011 for instance. Bould's work perhaps, plus the calmness Mertesacker brings to his teammates?

Anyways, great one today! COYG!

Did u lot see Arsenal's first goal today against norwich?

It was like a goal you score in fifa with all assisted level controls on, playing as a 5 star team against a 1 star team in beginner level!

It was ****ing unreal. When i saw that i was eating my popcorn and i was gobsmacked and drolled all over my popcorn ball!

Let's hope one of your leading men becomes unsettled and is lured to Old Trafford w the promise they get to slap RvP just because before starting w the new team.

At the moment its likely your star players like rvp and rooney will become unsettled and will que up begging wenger to join this team :APPLAUD:

Whatever may come that Wilshere goal is the goal of the season, decade, century...
This is how football should be played...damn why am i a Spurs fan ?

Wilshere goal is one of the best goals I've ever seen, congrats to Arsenal fans for this raving start of the season, watched part of the game and it seems the team is getting better by the minute, even when they don't play well they can keep themselves competing.

Ozil may be the best transfer in the Premier league in years, and Giroud is showing how good of an associative player he can be with the right players around. Wilshere has done a step forward.

Sack Wenger!

No mention of Ramsay? him being so far the player of the season along with Flamini adding solidarity with the back four is the main reason there doing so well.

That assist for Özil's second goal was fantastic by Ramsey.
It's early days, but at the moment he is the player of the season.

It's been since Fabregas was still playing for Arsenal that they played this kind of football...absolutely breathtaking.

Well I took those two for granted! Sorry! I think the team is above the individuals, but the individuals seem to have matured at last! Add one killer and a better sidebacks and this team it's a solid CL winner!

Another HUGE test for our team tonight, lets hope we can play like we have been, it could be a great game of football between these two teams.

This is the Start of a period that will give us a better indication of how we will fare this season.

Dortmund H
Palace A
Chelsea H
Liverpool H
Dortmund A
Man United A
Southampton H

Apart from Palace who you would expect us to beat on current form (Its still an away game), they are all tough.

I bet Man United will be on a run of form as well when we play them

I think Chelsea in the cup will be key as well, knowing we have got through to the next round and beaten Chelsea will be a big lift and another boost in confidence even if it is only the Capital one cup.

Exciting times though, hopefully the team do us proud and we are not all depressed after this run of games.

COME ON ARSENAL!

Can you imagine that either Arsenal, Napoli or Dortmund will be eliminated from the CL ?
IMO all three are quality wise at least QF's.

pretty even game, looked like it was going for a draw and then we left all the space in the world for one of the best strikers to put it away.

I don't think we played bad at all, but we were trying to many little flicks when we could have just played it normally. I think overconfidence came in, it was a bit frustrating.

The two goals against were soft, with Ramsey dallying and then the huge amount of space we left for lewandowski.

But still looked a match for a very good team, I was hoping for at least a draw at home though it opens up our group wide open now, oh well.....could this be the beginning of a downwards spiral? ;))

That elbow to the face was a bit odd (deliberately) happy no serious injury. Beside that a fair result imo... Marseille just hand outs 3pts

As you all know. i went to the game last night and here is my thoughts.

The atmosphere was terrific, i think our stand where clearly the loudest trying to outsing the Dortmund fans where some where actually sitting quite close to me a few steps down on the left hand side.

I was sitting in the East stand near the middle right at the top and had a great view from there. The Dortmund fans where fantastic, they was lound, cheerful and created a very colourful atmosphere.

They did not just sing and play drums, they were waving their flags, arms, and clapping in-sync. Its hard to describe but when viewed far away it looks terrific.

At one time they was waving there flags in sync in a helicopter type animation and at times held there flags across and paused every 2 seconds to the song they was singing. Absolute joy watching them.

On to the match. We started sluggish and Dortmund took control of the game for the first 20mins. Sagna at this stage of the game was a liability. He was making far to many mistakes and the team could not even string 2 passes in a row together.

We finished off the 1st half stronger, getting our passing going but Dortmunds defence was world class. we could not break them.

There goal came from a silly mistake, i forgot who but we gave the ball way soo cheaply in our own half that lead to the goal and i think this is what woke up arsenal.

second half we piled lots of pressure searching for that second goal. We looked at over commited and Dormund were reeling us in for the taking and finally they reeled us in so far on there bait, they exposed us once again and scored the winner.

Wilshere was wasted in the wings and he should have come off sooner. gnabry should have come on much early in the game to replace him as he is much more energetic .

Overal we deserved at least a point but i believe this is now the difference between us winning something and not.

If we are serious about winning something, Sagna and co CANNOT make a single mistake in a important game.

You do not want to lose cups/trophies conceding silly goals. Lose it to wonder or very worked on goals, not silly ones.

Next game i will go to is the liverpool one

The first Dortmund goal was a soft goal courtesy of Ramsey and Arsenal's goal was a soft goal courtesy of Subotić.
Arsenal played better in the second half and tried to control the match, as they should at home to be honest, and would probably have deserved at least a draw based on that.
BUT... the second Dortmund goal is one of the best counter goals I've ever seen, not to mention a classic Dortmund goal, so all in all it wasn't an entirely undeserved victory.

This is THE group of death and I look forward to see who's getting knocked out. I actually pity Marseille though...

But Dortmund barely troubled our keeper for the whole game apart from those two goals, that is what is frustrating.

We had a few openings hit the bar and had a shot cleared off the line, but we were punished by our own failings.

I think it did deserve a draw overall, but it wasn't and now it is going to be super hard for us to qualify playing away to Dortmund and Napoli!!!

the way they celebrate shows that theyre a strong unit! Dortmund is a team that work very hard... they run the most kilometer per game in europe if not in the whole football world. The ground they cover each match is astonishing. they know winning this game away from home was key to their progression cause winning at dortmund is very difficult task.

Dortmund fans remodeled the Emirates....:COAT:
