Arsenal Thread

looks like you will get your mega signing guys... United would need him more imo, but i bet you will use him :)

apparently Madrid fans were chanting his name during Bale presentation...

We don't need Ozil at all to be fair, it would be a muppet signing but its one of the strongest area's of our team, Rooney and Kagawa are world class talents and we have experience in Giggs and Youth in Januzaj to boot.

We need centre midfielders and lesser concern would be a top class winger.

So Özil 100% confirmed. For a lot of money! I'm delighted, but carefully optimistic.

Just don't know why they tried Ba, when they know that bellend Mourinho wouldn't sell or loan his 5th choice striker to Arsenal.

They should have focused on another striker who had a chance to sign.

All other sectors we reinforced - keeper, check, Flamini, check, Özil, check. To me, the striker position is where we really fell short this summer - we've got only Bendtner right after Giroud in the pecking order.

Still missed your main targets in higuain and luis gustavo, not a very good transfer window if youre honest for arsenal

But don't worry, we'll come for Suarez again in January! :D

In the words of Winston Wolfe from Pulp Fiction, "let's not start sucking each other's cocks just yet" :D

No doubt it's a top, top quality signing for us. But the question that still begs: was there a plan at all?

Wenger went for 2 high profile strikers (Higuain, Suarez), shopped around for a DMF (Lars Bender, Luiz Gustavo) but ended up buying a player in an area where we were already pretty strong.

As I said, typical Wenger :D

Can't wait for Mesut's debut! He will wear number 11.

If Flamini turns up to be capable then he can serve as the defensive alternative in the midfield. I am convinced Wenger doesn't want a defensive mid in the starting eleven and would rather field 2 regular midfielders such as Ramsey, Wilshere, or Arteta.

I think maybe he hates the concept of a DMF since the days of Benitez at Liverpool and Mourinho at Chelsea and their negative football. Even Song was shaping up to be much more positive in the midfield with his playmaking and forward runs.

With that in mind, again, I think Flamini is a good purchase as we can put him on the field towards the later stages of a match when the going gets though. (Maybe, Wenger is adopting some plan B's finally?)

One thing I was disappointed by was the decision to not sign Julio Cesar. I don't know anything about this Viviano guy, but from the looks of it, he doesn't seem any more capable than Fabianski. And surely, not more than Sczc. I would even accept Wenger's decision to have faith in Sczc and keep him as a starter. Even in that scenario, Cesar would have been a much more ideal back up.

Also, I agree with your comments about getting a striker. We should have definitely got in another striker. Preferably, someone who can play alongside Giroud. Someone that we might chose to field for certain matches, again as to provide us with alternative gameplans.

Edit: Also now that I think about it, another purchase, mainly a striker, would have went a long way to give more significance to the Ozil signing. It would have been a refortification that the club DOES have ambition and that top players DO still view Arsenal as a top club. But I doubt Wenger is too concerned about giving such messages. Although, they can spur the club on to a stronger mentality.

It is a great signing but I was hoping for more. A striker we definitely need and also some backup in defense, I think it will come back to haunt us, but hopefully not.

But I will just be happy we signed a brilliant player and pray that he plays very well for us.

I think this tips the hat into your favour...Originally I had you guys at 5th, but it seems that with this addition, you guys may be back at 3rd or 4th (depending on how the Spurs' new guys gel with each other and Man Utd may drop to 5th).

It is a real shame that only the top 4 can represent in Europe. Should be a very interesting season with this new addition. I just love Ozil (well, not so much his eyes, but his skill is really world class. RM is mad to sell him and pay 100m for Bale)

Yeah, 5-6 years ago you couldn't have really complained about only 4 teams from the EPL. But with the uprise of Man City, Spurs, and Liverpool; it feels like there should at least 1 more team getting CL action.

Good post goku ! Nothing is written in stone. Arsenal players are so humble and Ozil will be surprise how welcoming he wil feel. No ego here... Due to drought

I notice Arsenal fitness is risky . We drop in energy by the 70th minute mark. We are pressing much more n in the faces a lot closer. Looking at Fener n Spurs match . The style is not having a hard man in the middle but having passers n the players to hold the ball better. We don't have a CF and I think Ozil will convert in to one. Fabregas became one and having midfielders who can score is a plus. Ramsey is our top midfielder scorer. Theo was our top scorer last season.

Cazorla has been so vital for Arsenal and Ozil will amplify Cazorla IMO . We are 1 injury to disaster though. I think we could play a false 9 in the CL , not sure in league.

guys you got one of best players in the world , I would do a Party if we got Ozil , I will celebrate and be drunk for whole season

and I see a world class striker coming on January , also maybe few defenders , I think if Arsenal have signed Higuain or Suarez will win EPL

well well done Wenger , people here say that maybe Ozil isnt player Asenal need that much but I can tell you that every team in Europe need someone like Ozil no matter how good players you have on your team , Real are just stupid to let him go and you're lucky to get him ;)

Nah, I don't think The Gunners need any more forwards. Giroud and Podolski are doing whatever they can not to be on the bench. And we haven't seen anything from Sango yet. I saw him when he was at Auxerre, and he's really underrated...

No disrespect to you but you might be the first person I've seen who believes Arsenal doesn't need a center forward. Giroud is better than expected but with Podolski out for 3 months there isn't a lot to fall back on (unless they d want to play Walcott as cf before he starts whining again)

Mou is saying , once he knew for certain Ozil was going to Arsenal. He block Ba from going. Ozil makes Arsenal more threatening . Ronaldo is now saying Ozil knew his movements more than anyone. Cesc is shocked . Ozil was their 2nd best RM player after Ronaldo.

Levy said he asked about Ozil in July / August , but he was not for sell. Isco had (?) to how he would develop . Isco is RM top scorer :) . We still manage to be one leg up on the Spurs.

My hometeam, SK Slavia Prague, is now testing ex-player of Arsenal academy,Alban Bunjaku. Does anybody remember him? Is he good?

I knew there is a guy Called Albert Bunjaku , Idk if they have any relationship together , but I know they are from a City of Kosovo that emigrate on time of war in Kosovo , good luck to this guy and if transfer happen let me know how he'll do for you guys ;)
