Arsenal Thread

That is a very speculative post jonney...
There are examples enough of players who don't do well with certain clubs but afterwards are fantastic...
Bergkamp and Henry come to mind...both did nothing in Italy (Inter and Juventus if i remember well)...they were not bad with Arsenal...so allow me to apply your iron logic: the fact that (you think that) Van Persie will do better at big clubs, makes him a better player than Adebayor, Bergkamp and Henry.

Can i quote you on that one? I don't think so...

Adebayor has bene to two clubs now since moving from arsenal and both he hasnt produced the goods. co incident? Also, Berghamp was a ready made world class player before he joined arsenal. International status etc etc and regarded as one of the best buys from arsenals recent history. Like City buying david silva and augela or whatever his name is. both those city players proven world class players.

Henry i agree. diddnt do too well in his previous club and flourished at arsenal. RVP is a proven world class player, he can join in and do well at just about any club in the world IMO.

Adebayor, like others have said had, one, yes ONE good season his had mate.

he is beter then chamack, IM better then chamack :SMUG:

RVP is proven at Arsenal mate. Ian Rush was absolute quality at Liverpool but didn't do well in Italy. Many other instances of this too so you never know what could happen when somebody moves on.

I think RVP is quality. He might go to Madrid and just not fit in there, just like Adebayor didn't. Adebayor is doing quite well at Spurs though. World class? Nope. Is RVP though? The words World Class get associated with way to many people nowadays and gormless fools just jump on the bandwagon.

Fact is you just don't know how things will pan out when a player moves elsewhere... and I very much doubt you are better than my 7 year old J! ;)

If adebayor was soo good how come he couldn't hold a place at city and Real madrid?

If RVP was at city or real madrid, he would easily hold is own there

he was good, but not needed for Madrid to spend on him money, becouse that loan was only emergency, to cover for Higuain who was injured...Madrid play mostly on 1 CF, so 2 CF´s are enough for them atm.. both scoring hattricks etc..

Adebayor is quality player, but he has his age, and not so great past in terms of creting good atmosphere in team.. no coach would want to risk the money City definetly will demand for him..

at least not untill he sort out his head..

Well, it seems Arry is good at man management (he must be doing something well), maybe Adebayor can benefit from that...

If my memory serves me well, Bergkamp never succeeded with Inter (he was there together with a player who missed a big carreer: Wim Jonk).

Arry has nothing to do with it Mancini had problems because the player has issues. He knows he's at the last chance saloon I believe he is changed or say matured . I always felt blckburn will be his club.

RVP is world class period... When a player has a touch like RVP has...thats world class...He might not has the career of a messiand didnt win many things. He also had alot of injury but to me RVP is a world class player.

It's so good to see Arshavin perform. And welcome Park, finally.

We are definitely on the rise, the team is gelling and gaining more confidence with each win.

Good to see Park playing...he will prove to be a better player than Van Persie...if Van Persie is world class, than we in Belgium have dozens of world class players (i know, i'm exagerating...but Van Persie is a good player, nothing more).

I can see where gerd is coming from. I am not saying RvP is not world class but if I had to choose a striker, I can think of a lot of players I would pick before RvP.

you lots don`t get it ! RVP was a £2.75 million in 2004 buy :))
we didn`t spend the cash on RVP imo that makes a heap of difference atm 9 games 7 league goals . Gerd is now comparing Park to be better than RVP . Park will be playing Military pub footy in 2 years from now. Obviously ,you have your views on RVP made up. I see RVP as a gem that needed to be polish over time and atm he has delivered like Moses did crossing the Red Sea although Moses did not make it to the promise land :SMUG:

It's obvious that he is better than i treat him here...even i see that.
IMO he has moments of brilliance but i suspect a lack of consistency although i vaguely remember a stat in FourFourTwo that in some way (ratio shots on goal/goals or something similar) he is the best striker in the world....i remember seeing that stat and being huguely impressed.

I also admit that my assessment of players is very subjective, i would be the worst scout in the world..

Oh and i never wanted to say that Park already is a better player than Van Persie. I think he can become a better player if he gets enough chance to prove himself.

But yes in pure footballistic terms, i'm still convinced Adebayor is better than Van Persie (i'm not talking about mentality).
And i don't want to re-open the debate about his red card against Barcelona, but IMO he let his team down in that match (that in itself has nothing to see with being a world class player, player s like Romario, Mardonna, Best and others have also let their team down...it's undeniable that they were world class.

PS: in retrospect, this is a rather silly post...it's my way of telling people that what i think about Van Persie is not very relevant, but you all knew this...

There are always going to be question marks over van Persie because of his injury record. This is probably the longest period in around 3 years that he has had not being injured and I think he has nearly 46 games played and he has scored 31 goals and 8 assists in a severely underperforming side.

Unless he can get a couple of seasons in a row without a big injury, then it is hard to compare him to players that have played more and scored more goals. But his goal to game ratio when he has been fit is impressive.

I personally think he is World Class and I always knew if he could get over his injury problems he would bang in the goals (like most Arsenal fans did).

But I can understand why people say he isn't world class.

Gerd your views account for something here has value if not you wouldn't bother replying. I still remember you said Ade leaving was a bad move to let him go. So, no worries....I lost respect for Ade came when he head butted nick vs tottenham. Seeing a fellow team mate drawing blood is absolutly over the top.

I agree with bob Rvp injury spell carry so much weigh no club woulf gamble on him at a fair price. We see Hargo at mutd leaving although player was on sick note for so long he left to rival almost a bitter move.World class tag is used by fans and the validity of the word is measured differently to fans as s thank you for thr service your provide . I see ot like a thank you, ccheers birthday card tag.

brilliant game. still think RVP is not world class?

rubbish. RVP is easily top 5-10 striker in the world. EASILY. Ade is not even top 10 striker in the PL.

Sensational game. im buzzing mate

Match. of. the. season.

Congratulations guys, totaly deserved, best football i seen whole year.

Come on...this was a match between two teams who made plenty of silly mistakes. I understand that Arsenal fans are over the moon with this victory, but i've seen a match that was a spectacle due to error after error...the third for Chelsea, the fourth from Arsenal, all the errors of both Arsenal's side backs...Both teams better pray that they make less individual errors against both Manchester teams or else they loose with double figures. I enjoyed this match but was far from impressed.

Well i admit there was errors, but also referee erors wich lead to Mata goal...Arsenal played a much better match after their second goal, they deserved the 3 points...especially Gervinho impressed me..he is very inteligent player.. Also Ramsey grows to a big player who can replace Fabregas easyly if he continues like that..

I would not say this but for me in terms of match entertainment this was a great match for neutral :)

I thought I was the only one that haven't seen that great match some are praying. It was a good match but nothing more. Best game of the season? Nah, not even close!

IMO, the luckiest team won, it could have gone either way. Chelsea completely outplayed Arsenal in the 1st half but lost the plot in the first quarter of the 2nd half. Then, Gunners had lucky in almost all capital plays. Sczesney should have got a red car imo btw.

Anyway, congrats for the result. I guess you're back in contending for the 4th place.

the reason for so many error was due to attacking at high spd and passing on both sides. A slower game would of been less error come ON ! gerd you don`t get the that. It was a boxing match with bloody counters .Mata`s goal should`ve been a free kick great goal btw. Cech never conceded so many and at home

Just happy Drogba was suspended :TTTH: btw sign Robin up ffs give`em what he wants  He brought *7 goal difference down in 3 matches
