I don't believe those statistic, they must be wrong...

Oops...

No smiley?

No need...it's obvious isn't it.

Those statistics are stunning. I was wrong about Van Persie...he is not a bad striker.

Nah he took a moment to pray on his knees it seem.. Some will say he was bowing down to King Persie out of respect so maybe gerd will be convince now! :P

28 Van Persie has one more than Alan Shearer hit by this stage in 1995. Shearer ended with a record 36
1.04 No-one has a better Premier League goals to games ratio at this stage of the calendar year. Ruud van Nistelrooy hit 0.88 in 2003
142 His minutes per goal ratio for Arsenal is bettered only by Thierry Henry, who managed 122

The shearer stat was in a season, not from the whole year.

You have a great act...you should find a good agent because you are funny as hell.

Gerd this quote has nothing to do with what I am going to say...but you must be OUT of your mind =p.

I sinceraly dont understand how can you say that Robin Van persie is not a world class player?

thats there 1500 striker better than him...

Well first Van persie isnt a striker, hes more of an attacking midfielder/striker type...He possess a world class technique and touch only few players in this world have. To me 100% in the top 5 of this world for sure.

saying torres...adebayor aguero are better player than him...

I think you have NO IDEA who is Van persie as a football player. But everybody has hes opinion =p

Let's not start this all over again. I was exagerating in most things i was saying (of course there are not 1500 better strikers than him). Right at the moment he is fantastic. But i still think Arsenal fans tend to overrate him...to be fair i think im' underrating him.
I got a litle bit caught up in this discussion and started to exagerate...i'm sorry.

It seems every year a certain player gets a lot of attention for their performances, rightly so. This Year Robin and last season Nasri and before was Fabregas. Is Nasri getting the same attention... I don`t think he played as much or is relied on as much. His role is limited he most likely won`t get player of the year for France.

I find Arteta to be more important he is stronger n mature player his performance is not beyond I think he`s holding back a little less risky passer. Gervinho seem to be better at the rate Nasri was when he started. Gervinho will improve and gelling with players is just a minute away. Park needs playing time and Chamahk is nowhere near getting a start. I think Wenger will buy another attacking player.

Vermaelen was very good.

A few times when Valbuena and Ayew got behind the full-backs or Mertesacker lost concentration, he very swiftly cut out the attacks by great 'covering' and intercepting those passes just in time. Full of energy and focus!

Very solid performance from the captain on the night.

I still like Merts though, I think when he finds the right partnership he will be very good. I thought he did well against Marseille, he was breaking up play and getting his head on the ball alot.

Merteszacker seems less solid than in Bremen because the people before him don't defend enough. Alex Song is perhaps my favourite Arsenal player, in the matches i've seen him (live) this year (against Blackburn and Chelsea) he had a couple of fantastic moments with beautifull passes that lead to goals (cfr. the Santos goal against Chelsea), but defensively he has too much weaknesses to be a DMF...I've already said it countless times, Arsenal's top priority is a good, commanding, cynical DMF. A player who is a leader on the pitch and who wants to play ugly amid all this artistic football...every great team has such a player...The first big Arsenal team under Wenger had Viera, Man Uts has had Keane, Ajax had Neeskens, Barcelona has Busquets...some of these players are very good players, but that is of lesser importance (of course it's a bonus). The big Dutch team in 1974 had Neeskens, Van Hanegem, Rijsbergen, Haan...plenty of talented but also very cynical players...
IMO that is the only thing Arsenal misses to win silverware...

Hahaha that's brilliant. :D

TSO, I agree but let's not forget the simple fact that Merte is still getting adapted to a whole new league, team, culture, language and team-mates so I'd say so far he's done okay and hopefully will get back to his solid best soon.

@Gerd, I agree. Song has really improved passing/creativity wise it seems. Some killer passes lately! Beautiful stuff! But yeah defensively which is supposed to be his bread and butter, he's just decent. Nothing special.

Of course Sina, all those factors you mentioned above are certainly part of this equation and I'm pretty sure Merts will establish himself and become a very important player for Arsenal. Germans have a strong mentality so I think a mistake won't affect the good tall guy.

Mertesacker and Vermaelen is a very good central partnership, just need to make sure Vermaelen isn't injured and gets a good run because he's in the top three CD's in the league I reckon.
