Arsenal Thread

he wasn`t the last man though what did you see

He wasn't the last man but that play was a clear goal opportunity, and according to the International Board, that is reason for sent off.

Apparently, The Telegraph shares my opinion:

Chelsea immediately went on the attack and Szczesny appeared lucky not to be sent off when he came rushing out of goal and tripped Cole on the edge of the box.

Anyway, I'm just talking about this because AVB will certain blame the ref! Typical latin guy!

I thought I was the only one that haven't seen that great match some are praying. It was a good match but nothing more. Best game of the season? Nah, not even close!

IMO, the luckiest team won, it could have gone either way. Chelsea completely outplayed Arsenal in the 1st half but lost the plot in the first quarter of the 2nd half. Then, Gunners had lucky in almost all capital plays. Sczesney should have got a red car imo btw.

Anyway, congrats for the result. I guess you're back in contending for the 4th place.

That was never a red card, there was at least 3 Arsenal players standing in front of the goal.. red would be if there was only Cole alone on Keeper, this way it was a yellow card foul..

Well maybe it wasn't a red card, but Arsenal's back four and their GK were shockingly bad. It's a miracle that they won this match. If it's true that big clubs win when they play bad matches, then Arsenal will win everything this year. if i were an Arsenal fan i would find it disturbing how bad my team defended. Merteszacker is seen as one of the certainties in that defense, but look at Terry's goal...they way Merteszacker defended was shocking...

At the moment Van Persie's shot/goal ratio's is miraculously good and this saves Arsenal...

The first goal was a very good one, this was the Arsenal we're accostumed to see under Wenger...i don't want to offend Arsenal's fans in this thread, but althoug not undeserved this was something of a freak win in a match between two teams who made plenty of mistakes and somehow (by two freak goals) Arsenal won it.

As a football fan and somebody who likes Arsenal, i hope this will give them confidence to allow them to make the next step up.

after first 5 min of match I really thought there is going to be one other 8-2 but Arsenal did well after , great result guys cong.

To me Song, Gervinho and Mata were immense today. The rest was mediocre (yes, also Van Persie).

I think Ramsey was good being everywhere ! Theo to me was his best match, falling on his face to get back up and score :WORSHIP: Yeah ! it wasn`t Robin`s best match he is a player that does his job by finishing . Gervinho missed a sitter that will haunt him it really took his confidence down ,hence the assist instead of slotting it pash Cech. I guess us gooners aren`t suppose to be happy  we were 17th spot 3 matches ago

What do Van Persie have to do so gerd could dmit the he IS world class!!
Well he scored 3 against Chelsea, EPL(the best league in the world or second) top scorer with 10!
Yet still he isnt world class!!!Puffff

Great result! The match was awesome to watch and I jumped out of the couch with some of the goals, specially the last ones! Cheers to all Arsenal fans, the team seems to be getting into pace now, all it needs is 2 or 3 more wins to keep the morale high.

I liked Gervinho, he was smart in the goal after missing that sitter. I agree a bit with Gerd, though, in Van Persie playing a bad match. But scoring 3 goals must mean something, even if you played trash for long times during the match. At the end, Van Persie goals were the difference in the match.

I don't rate Van Persie as a top forward, though, mainly because he lacks consistency and is too injury prone. But he's absolutely class and right now his contribution to the team is not only in football terms. After Nasri and Cesc going away, he's the "big brother" of the team and he has to carry a difficult scenario. And he's doing it, or at least trying to. Players like Wilshere or Ramsey will grow on his shadow. This kind of contribution has to be valued because it's just as important as what you do on the pitch. And it's a great chance to see Robin as a more mature player and taking more responsabilities.

All in all a great match and I'm happy for all the gunner fans!

Scoring 5 against Chelsea at Stamford bridge and winning is a fantastic result and our team need to be given alot of credit. Most times teams score it is due to a mistake from the other team imo, whether it is wrong positioning etc etc.

To go behind twice aswell in the game and keep coming back is even better. Our team are playing as a team and that is what is great.

Our defence is suspect, but I am hoping it will improve and it will have to. Merts hasn't been with us for long and I still have hope for him that he will come good, it is still early days.

Great result and hopefully we can continue from this and keep our confidence up as that is the key with our team.

Terry.

2yls1gm_medium.gif

I could watch this all day!

I don't like Terry, but it is very easy to laugh with him. IMO he was not to blame, Malouda's pass was awfull (and he realized that because he apologized immediately to Terry).

Of course this is a great result for Arsenal. I must say i understand Arsenal fans a litle bit better for their joy...may favourite team just won 4-5 after being 4-2 down and being outplayed for 40 minutes...if they play like that against Chelsea in the CL this week, they will loose 0-10...but hey...they won an important match against and immediate opponent.

This can prove to be a very important match, come backs like that are turning point for teams...so all in all a good day for Arsenal. Did not want to sound too negative.

I`m glad you understand even though it took you to be in our shoes w/ Genk . All is not lost ... :))

Terry has lots of issues with "Slips"
pub punch-slip
CL final penalty-slip
▲££chelsea backroom tours-slip
Teammate`s bird repeatly-slip
slurs /youtube/anton-slip
chasing a back pass- slip

I wonder if this comes from his dad cocaine dealing-slip or mum shoplifting- slip .Either way is he the only man to captain England - slip....interesting slips

Oh man, this guy doesn't exist!

"Terry has lots of issues with "Slips""
Seriously, I couldn't stop crack laughing! :LMAO:

I wished all people had their bebo side. :)

Rooney, Hernandez, Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Messi, Higuain, Gomez, Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero, Villa, Kanouté, Ibrahimovic, Gomis, the Paraguayan guy of Benfica, Derdyok, the Dutch striker of Schalke 04, Kerzhakov, Klose, Vucinic, these are only the most obvious ones....hell i can name you 1500 strikers who are better than Van Persie... And i did not even mention Adebayor.

Of course i'm exagerating...but take his 3 goals yesterday: the first was the best goal...how many players would have done what gervinho did there?
The second was an easy one (but you still have to score it).
The third one was an "let's close your eyes and hope it goes on target"-rocket...last season a player like Jelle Vossen of Genk scored 15 goals like that. Is he world class? No he isn't.

With Van Persie in this form Holland could have won the WC.
But you know what i call world class strikers? Gerd Muller, Marco Van Basten, Romario, Batistuta, Kempers...Is Van Persie in the same league as those players? No he isnt.

But yes he is currently one the best strikers in the world...and it's very debatable that all the players i mentioned in this post are better than Van Persie. Van Persie is clearly better than some of them (Derdyok for example). I just want Arsenal to think about the qualification "world class"...i can name only two Arsenal FW's who are world class: Henry and Bergkamp. Van Persie is not in the same league as those two.

What i want to say: Van persie is terrifivc right now, but he is not world class. It's not that important...let's close this discussion. I have nothing against him at all, i think Arsenal fans tend to exagerate his abilities, but i can understand why.

With every post about RVP you sound even funier and funier!!:BRMM:

Look player isnt just world clas if he can score goal just by himself by playing past all defence its also the movement(with and without the ball) thats why he scored those 2 first goals and that is very important for strike the movement and it was fantastic vs Chelsea do you realy think that if Chamakh, Park or any other player would be in his place would score those two and would the be in such position as RVP i am not so sure about that!

And all thoes players what you named are all world class stikers just as RVP and that it!!

please dont humiliate yourself with these ridiculous posts!

The thing what you mentioned about National team is shit(sorry for my language)!!
How many WC have Messi,C.Ronaldo and Rooney have won with their NT??? hah??
Does that makes them a non world class strikers!!

But well i cant change your stubborn mind so think what you want!!

I'm afraid I don't rate Van Persie as world class as well, although I think he's very good. Girts, you call gerd stubborn, but he could also say you are being stubborn. Player ratings are always subjective.

 That list Gerd is quite random, Why wasn't Ronaldo in the list? ;))

Hernandez, Torres, Anelka, Higuain, Gomez, Balotelli, (yet) Dzeko, Kanoute, Gomis are definitely not as good as Van Persie.

First of all, i said myself that my list was not good a one.
Torres is much better than Van Persie, much, much, much better...
Girts, i don't think you understood my argument about the national team...read my post again.

But yes, i was being stubborn. Van Persie has scored 25 goals in the EPL in 2011...that is very good. Hat off. But not in the same league as those legendary strikers i mentioned.

Let's close this very subjective discussion. I was exagerating.

Torres? After that i will stop taking you seriously. rating Torres who has done absoluetly FUCK ALL for 2-3 seasons now is completely crazy.

Sorry Gerd but only a looney would rate Torres higher then RVP. Not even a chelsea fan would say that

Torres quality wise was the best CF in England last time in 2008/2009. A lot of the form depends on the team mates and maybe chainging teams made him less a player who his team mates give passes and creating chances for and more a SS type of forward, but if i had to choose between Torres or Van Persie, i would not hesitate a second to pick RVP.

I think Ramsey is becoming more and more a key player for us, his vision and passing are just getting better and better.

It is exciting to have him and Wilshere at the heart of our midfield, if they can live up to their potential they could be amazing.

Gervinho has had a few good games in a row aswell and seems to be settling in, so it is looking positive.

This is the time when we will see if we can still challenge and get back in the mix. Really if we want people to notice we should be winning all Prem games up until the Man city game on the 18th December. It will be tough but we need to start doing it.

Lets hope we can....fingers crossed.

Arsenal are looking better and better, but to me Spurs also look as a team to end up on a CL place. This is the best and most solid Spurs team i've ever seem. Parker is really the missing piece of the jigsaw.
If Modric can stay, i think this year Spurs have a better team than Arsenal. Of course Wilshere will come back...he might add much to Arsenal. IMO both Arsenal and Spurs could still overtake Chelsea and even Man Utd. Yesterday once again Man Utd were rather lucky to win against Everton. This Utd team has a very weak defense.

PS: actually Jonney, Torres is playing a splendid season...it's not all about goal scoring...

Spurs do have very good players and on their day can beat most teams in the Prem, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart and Adebayor are all top quality. If you can keep your best players then you can improve and go much further. You have a very good chance of getting into the top 4 this season.

If Arsenal can pull this season back and tie Van Persie and Walcott down then we have a great basis to build on for next season and beyond. If we can get a good run together before we play Man City in the League, then I can start believing this season might turn out ok.

Still a very long way to go though! :))

nah I don`t see it ! Chels will improve n MUTD grinds out result even when playing below par. Never count MUTD out Chelsea is trying to re-build w/ new boss. Can`t really rebuild w/ the core members of the squad is there. Interesting times ahead....Liverpool are more rested so they have a better chance imo

28 Van Persie has one more than Alan Shearer hit by this stage in 1995. Shearer ended with a record 36
1.04 No-one has a better Premier League goals to games ratio at this stage of the calendar year. Ruud van Nistelrooy hit 0.88 in 2003
142 His minutes per goal ratio for Arsenal is bettered only by Thierry Henry, who managed 122
