What about Jenkinson handball in pk area (14') and André Santos hand control, should be the second yellow in first half...
Sick OM not dangerous, but sick Arsenal don't deserve the win.

I was glad when you lot scored at the end. Marseille were absolutely shocking, devoid of any inclination to try and score a goal, they got what they deserved in the end.

If we lived on 'what ifs' then the world would be a different place. What if they didn't head the ball off of the line, what if Walcott would have finished his chance etc etc.

We basically controlled the match if you feel we didn't deserve the win then that is fine, I think we just about deserved it. we definately deserved the win more than Marseille.

Anyway we did win and that is what counts, I don't think Marseille were that hard done by to be honest.

The Santos hand ball wasn't influential and the ball would have gone for a throw, so I think the ref used his common sense well. If it was in the box or stopped a goal scoring chance then fair enough.

Also the Jenkinson handball I don't think was deliberate, but then I am biased :DD

Anyway Marseille should be doing alot more at home against a poor Arsenal side (if what you believe in the media is true?). They only have themselves to blame for the loss.

Carl|s hand ball was deem accidental or intentional, ref saw it and waved on. I think the ref gave some wrong decision in the match Andres misguided handball was woeful and Theo got a bear hug in the box didn`t even get a look. How Diarra handball was missed w- both refs , maybe the black glove had something to do with it lol I think playing for a draw was the wrong game plan to take being at home. In the end Gervinho made the difference with that directional tap, Ramsey is not a prolific scorer . Valebuena was good at rushing andre to force him a 2nd yellow ,but Song kept covering andre which left me very impress .

btw Carl`s crosses are much better than sagna and miles better than Theo . Arteta plays too safe or nerves took over. RVP kept doing the runs where Jack /Ramsey would lob the ball over the cb`s . He just made the safe passes...welcome to Champions League :SMUG:

I am glad Arsenal won at France against lucky Marseille. Now just get 2 more wins and come to Greece with your 2nd team, in order to make up for the win in Emirates which came with clear help from referee (he didn't give the penalty at 2-1).

I only saw the first half so can't comment on 2nd but Marseille were by far the better team in 1st and in control and judging by that only, they deserved at least a draw and not a loss. I was shocked when I later on found out the result and heard Arsenal had nicked it in the last minute. Very bad result for OM! Big disappointment at a time where they could've used some inspiration much like their opponents! The game is played in 2 halves though and so who knows maybe Arsenal played far better in the 2nd?

And yeah there should've been a penalty early on for OM which is what Ayew was protesting (handball), instead he got a yellow card from ref which I don't mind because he was being way too dramatic and jumping up and down.

I saw the 2nd half and I think Marseille was in control, but Arsenal created 2 great chances before scoring. So, they deserved the win, just as Olympiacos deserved it in Emirates against them.

P.S. If there was a handball from Jenkinson, then this was the 2nd win Arsenal took with referee help in this group stage.

I think it is a bit much to say they were by far the better team in the first half and in control? They might have been a bit better...maybe.

I thought we controlled most of the match overall and had much the better chances. Marseille were at home aswell and seemed quite happy not to really attack. But it is all subjective really.

Both teams had handball calls and also Walcot was held back in the pen area aswell etc, none were given, so there you go.

Inactive member you need to get over that Olympiacos game

to be honest, at this point in his career I think he is thinking more about winning stuff. So I imagine even if we offer him 200k a week but haven't shown this year that we can win something or at least get close, then I think he will leave anyway.

I just hope we can get some good cup runs, maybe a nice Carling Cup and FA Cup double :DD that would be nice.

I know it means nothing from some guys but didn't he assure you guys that he was staying?

Is he on his final year btw? Weird how you faced this situation with a lot of top players nearing the end of their contracts lately.

No his got two years left i think. give him 200k. It will send a message to other arsenal fans that if they wnat that type of cash, they must out their foot in and produce.

Cant reply on RVP all the time. if he stays injury free, we will be guaranteed a top 4 finish IMO but we all know that we have a beter chance of winning the CL then VP staying fit

I can't remember him saying he will definately stay with us? I think he has 2 years left on his contract (or just under?) so we are in no rush. He may have said he will see out his contract, but that doesn't help us when selling him as he will go for free or peanuts.

Not really that weird as players want to win things and move on, so they don't want to sign a new contract and be tied to a club they feel aren't going to win anything. It has only happened with Nasri though, from what I can remember? not really a lot?

i think RVP is not going to force a move out of Arsenal if they give him higher sallary..he´s imo the type who knows that he is best player of the club and if Arsenal invest in top players, i think he will stay..

It could be Rooney saga all over again in summer with him.. give him high sallary wich he deserves, he is already captain and most important player..

I don´t know what team who can afford him would want him or where he would want to go..

he´s perfect for Arsenal..

Might be risky breaking your wage structure for a perma-crock like RvP, although it's a risk I'd probably take at this point in time.

Adebayor is/was a much better player, yet Arsenal let him go...

This is gonna be controversial...
what? uhh? say that again? when has adebaoyr ever bene beter thne RVP? after Henry left, RVP was pretty much our best striker. dispite his injuries, when he cam eon he performed 10x better then any other striker in our team bar Henry.

Best strikers in wengers reigns goes like this.

Henry > bercghamp > RVP > Anelka.

Your Crazy if you think that Gerd, Adebayor is a top class forward IMO but Van Persie had the potential to be one of the best players in the world unfortunately fitness issues hampered any chance of him proving it.

I still think Van Persie is overrated. Adebayor is a better Chamakh and a better Van Persie in one player. He gave Arsenal a plan B...Van Persie doesn't and the fact that he is always injured should also taken into account.

If he wasn't injured that much he would be one of the best strikers in the world???
If i had as much talent as Messi... same argument (oh and i agree the second argument sounds much more ridiculous, but basically it is the same sort of reasoning).

Arsenal's decline began when Adebayor was sold (and don't think i'm a huge fan of him, i don't like him that much...i was disappointed when i heard that Spurs bought him...he's not my type of striker, but i think he is very, very good...).

Adebayor is very good, but tried to hold us to ransom with his wage demands which were ridiculous. We had to get rid of him.

Van Persie even with the injuries I think his goal to game ratio over the last few seasons is up there with the very best?....When he has got a few months in he has scored consistantly.

Adebayor would be great if he didn't have his attitude (just like Van Persie would have been the best if he didn't get as many injuries etc)

But maybe with life after Arsenal with the shootings, the moving around clubs and the new start with Spurs he realises that money isn't everything and Spurs may have loaned him just at the right time.

Ade only had "1" good season and you have to admit Fabregas played the major part of that. He gave him such a service that year. Ade had a chant 4 shots to score 1 goal (4 to 1 ) cant remember tbh.

RVP creates chances for others n sometimes has to do alot on his own. Gervinho of late doing great w/ assistant , but nothing like Fabregas services. For arument sake a player`s asset are not only in his "skill/ performance " ,but what he adds to the team as an employee if ,you do good at your work but no one wants to work w/ you cause you attitude disturbs the flow. Ade 2nd loan tells you the sort of a professional the club rid him off but RM didn`t want him maybe the Spurs will.

Arsenal became weaker when Gallas left. He was the Vermaelen in fudge ,but he lack in leadership . His lost was much more worst than Ade. Gallas is a top player defends n nicked a few goals.

Flamini? I didn't pay attention to him a lot at Arsenal but he was a monster in both games he played against Milan but yeah the others are Nasri,Clichy,Ade... More about money and winning than contracts runnning out.

Exactly not at all about contracts running out, like you said was a reason alot of our top players have left because of recently?

Not having a go, but this is what has annoyed me about the recent circumstances. People calling us a selling club etc etc which I don't think there is much basis to go on? and a load of other things being said that simply isn't true.

People have said alot about us this season, how we will be lucky to get into the Europa league....we have lost our top 4 status etc etc.

There is still a long long way to go.

The media have a lot to blame about this, stiring shit about Van Persie aswell when he has nearly two years on his contract! it really pisses me off and everybody jumps on the band wagon.

Clichy was playing shit for us for quite a while and we got quite a bit of money for him.

Ade was holding the club to ransom and had to go.

Nasri was dissapointing, but really what can you do if a player doesn't want to sign their contract? you can't force them to? people act like Arsenal didn't try and sort out a contract, which is just ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm not going over it again (after just doing so :PP) we are going through a better period now, hopefully we can continue it with a win against Bolton and Chelsea at the weekend.

If adebayor was soo good how come he couldn't hold a place at city and Real madrid?

If RVP was at city or real madrid, he would easily hold is own there

That is a very speculative post jonney...
There are examples enough of players who don't do well with certain clubs but afterwards are fantastic...
Bergkamp and Henry come to mind...both did nothing in Italy (Inter and Juventus if i remember well)...they were not bad with Arsenal...so allow me to apply your iron logic: the fact that (you think that) Van Persie will do better at big clubs, makes him a better player than Adebayor, Bergkamp and Henry.

Can i quote you on that one? I don't think so...
