Arsenal Thread

So it's 1st of July, the wheels are in motion in the continent. Where are our transfers?? :P

Seriously, Gervinho seems like a done deal, but apart from that, nothing else seems to be happening. No Cahil, nor Samba... Maybe Muamba, then? :P

...and those rumours about Joey psycho Barton reappear. I'd be disgusted with that but I have to admit: 1)we do need cunts in the squad 2)at least he's better than bloody Diaby and Denilson

I think Ricky Alvarez is yours, and will come once Nasri is out. Palermo were after Ricky for a while, but president Zamparini said he had to give up because a deal with Arsenal was struck.

Alvarez is originally a LMF.
But Velez Sarsfield has had lots of injuries and he has played everywhere in midfield: AMF-CMF-RMF and even DMF.
Like i already said in this thread: he can become something special but of course that is never guaranteed.
In the past Alvarez has had some injury problems: cruciate ligament of the knee.

Looks like Clichy is going away!
Who will be playing for us in LB?
I love to se a player like Baines in Arsenal, would give to Arsenal quite a lot imo.
but on the other hand i wouldn't like to see Gibbs on the bench i think that Arsene must give him a chance to prove himself that he can play in 1st team and i realy think that he can develop into a very good LB.

He gets injured way too often though... A few times Eboue had to step in at left back when Clichy was not available.

Anyway,

http://blogs.soccernet.com/onthemove/archives/2011/07/gunner_be_starting_something_1.php

Daily Mirror: Scott Carson has signed for Fenerbahce ... Wigan have joned Bolton in the race to land Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips ... Joseph Yobo is ready to boycott training at Everton to force a move to Fenerbahce ... West Ham have accepted a £10 million bid from Fenerbahce for Scott Parker - but the midfielder is refusing to go to Turkey.

So Wenger has not bid on the player? We've already mentioned what an asset Parker could be, but maybe Wenger is already happy with his options in midfield? More squad depth is never a problem, wouldn't you agree?

According to this Fenerbahce is buying everybody? Strange, I just read on the news that their president was arrested for match fixing.

Turkish clubs seem to be linked with absolutely everyone at the minute.

The tax over there is far better for high earners like footballers than most other places I think, so they reckon they can tempt everyone.

So Clichy is gone, we really will need another Left back, we can't rely on Gibbs for a whole season with his injuries.

Clichy will be more of a back up for Kolorov I would think? but I suppose there is enough games for the both of them. But Clichy may find himself dropped for the more important games....I suppose all that money will make it easier on him :DD

7 million, not that bad for a player that has been pretty rubbish for the last couple of seasons and in his last year of contract (so could go for free at the end of the season).

Just hope we replace him.

Wow, so City have bought Bridge, Kolarov and now Clichy...that's an expensive position clearly! (don't even want to think about when you add Lescott who sometimes plays there)

Anyone read :

schole said:
I don't think our manager would allow this club to go six years without a trophy,” Scholes added. – Sapa-AFP

He must be talking to the new fans  Have you believe MUTD build a new stadium run the club in a model way for other clubs to follow. Who plays no style and win games n trophies. Then , Neville saying MUTD will over throne Barca. Also throws RM will do it too!

I hope Neville n Schole become a Boss. Yes , they had great careers I just see them tarnishing it by these more to come statement in the future. Beckham is the most modest player from MUTD, always respectful unless your the Glazers , Gold n Green !

I can`t see Nasri going to MUTD ,but they are in love with the idea.I only remember paddy almost joining back in 2001. I think Nasri will do what Wenger advise him regardless of Darren Dien tries. I would Love RVP`s mate Snejider to come in if Nasri n Fab did leave ABROAD :P

He's right though, not winning anything for 6 years and keeping your job doesn't happen at big clubs or ambitious ones. Wenger made Arsenal a big club but he's also played a part in them being demoted from that status.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with what Scholes says there...it's not arrogant, it's just a fact.

Neville is an asshole...

Sure it`s facts , the years are proof  I just think Arsenal moving from Highbury to the Emirates was a big factor in spending and selling. Looking at it from 1 view is just a dig imo .

So it`s true Mutd play ugly football and loses every time to Barca ,but win trophies. Those are facts but more of a dig imo.

I think keeping your job after taking consideration of the whole situation after six years should happen after 6 years of not winning a trophy.

Liverpool and Spurs have both shown how easy it is dropping out of that top 4 and out of the champs league.

Arsenal have spent much less than both of these clubs and consistantly get into the top 4 and later stages of the champs league. We usually are in contention for alot of competitions but then fall away dramatically.

Arsene gambled on youth that not only himself thought could be world beaters, they didn't fulfil their potential and we are in the situation we are in now.

This is the pivotal moment for Arsene, what he does this pre season and how we play in the next season will have a huge effect on what Arsenal become in the next 5 years. I think it is that important.

Wenger has made a few bad judgement calls that we can slam him for after hindsight, but he has to realise now that mistakes were made and a new approach must be sought, if he doesn't then he will be out.

I still don't think the 6 years without a trophy were a complete disaster and merit all of the critisism being thrown at us. But I do think we could have reacted to situations better and sooner.

If the next few months are managed well, then we will be fine, but there is a thin line between failure and success.

We have two of the best young british Midfielders in the game today imo and one of the best strikers in the league, if we can build on that we will be laughing.

He's right though, not winning anything for 6 years and keeping your job doesn't happen at big clubs or ambitious ones. Wenger made Arsenal a big club but he's also played a part in them being demoted from that status.

Agreed.

I heard Arsene say like a month ago in an interview that he hopes the club gives him some transfer funds this season. Do you guys really blame him fully on not buying players?

You can't blame him for selling Fabregas,Clichy,Adebayor,Flamini,... He is getting turned on by the kids he had faith in and the same ones who cost Arsenal some important games by making some stupid mistakes. Tough situation for him.

Anyway, Ricky Alvarez joined Inter for 8 mill or something.

So Alvarez goes to Inter? That is a shame for Arsenal, but it seems kind of logical.
It seems as if Argentinian players succeed better in Italy (where there is a long tradition of Argentinian players) than in England (with a few exceptions like Tevez and Masscherano, few Argentinian players succeed in England).

Soon we will see how Cahill and Samba is signed for other clubs
oh this is one "realy good" strategy by Wenger... show some interest and wait til other clubs buy it instead of us.
I am losing fate in Wenger!
