Arsenal Thread

35M + Thiago (Clause in the contract so Barca can't just want him back in 5 seasons or something) and you'd be coming of way better.

If Fab does go, the team will be getting weakened and arriving on his place, there will be only ifs, instead of established players.
Gervinho, Juan Mata, Cahill... No big names, I'm not holding my breath. Even so, there's only talks of these players coming to us. Arsenal moves in a sluggish way on transfer windows. United are champions and already bought Young, a keeper and a defender. And what have Arsenal done so far, besides increasing membership fees?
I'm getting seriously annoyed.
If Fab goes for 35 or 40m, we need to see all that money being spent on proven players. I'm talking about the likes of Etoo, Sneijder, etc. Proven stars, no ifs please!

Star players NEVER mate! Arsenal produce stars not buy them . Snjieder ,Eto n co. will demand wages of 120k + . Nasri can`t even get 110k  Stability n reality only 1 person gets the highest wages and that Wenger ! He worked miracles to give Arsenal where they are. No boardroom members uses their own money to put in the transfer kitty. The Club is ran in a modest way asking the fans to spend more n more each season w/ our biggest players leaving n No trophies. What other club in the world are so unsuccessful trophy-wise and still earn more money than most successful clubs? Arsenal are winning and fans are losing. No star players! Mata = nope . Jack Yes! Arsenal said "No!" to a Turkish club for Diaby, £10m

Mata and Gervinho might not be household names (yet) like Sneijder and Eto'o, true... but they're pretty high profile as it is and for good reasons.

They're already close to world-class level if not WC yet and still young with room for further improvement and great re-sale value in case things don't work out (don't adapt, etc.)

I'll be honest though, Mata doesn't seem like someone to me who would prefer to be out of Spain. He doesn't seem the most ambitious either. I think he's pretty content at Valencia for example and if club were to not wanna sell him (which they do because of debts) he'd be more than happy to stay.

Gervinho on the other hand wants to leave and wants to play for Arsenal badly! Which is nice to have! Finally a player who badly WANTS to play for Arsenal and a quality one too.

Also this is my guess, and maybe we'll find out soon enough, but he's one of those players I don't see having any problem adapting to EPL. I expect him to come in and do a job immediately. Mata has more potential but will take longer to adjust in my opinion.

i would prefer Afellay in stead of Thiago!

Thiago is exceptional but I actually would too but Afellay just joined Barca, he won't be going anywhere.

The difference is that the likes of Etoo and Sneijder do it season it season out. Nasri only has flashes of brilliance. I think it's unfair to say he only have one half good season in his career like Arseblog says, but... it's true, he hasn't proven he's worth such high wages.

I'm a bit fed up with this philosophy at Arsenal of only making stars, instead of buying. To me, it's clear you've got to combine youth and experience.

I didn't know about this 10m bid from Turkey for Diaby, but the fact Wenger turns it down only further shows the error of his ways. His infatuation with Diaby is something that still puzzles us, a consistently mediocre player like that... for 10m pounds? It's a no brainer! Just freaking ship him to Turkey and do us all a favour and send Denilson along as a bonus.

Producing stars? Doesn't do it for me anymore. This current crop of players prove my point. We don't have to resource to that forever, you know... We already have 5 years of Emirates income, the debts are being lowered, I think it's time we spent some cash. Otherwise we run the risk of finishing 5th next season.

Like I said, the champions are already strengthened as we speak, and Arsenal has only potential signings and the potential loss of 2 star players.
I see you guys are cool with that. Am I alarmed without a reason? :P

If you listen to the press (which is all we can go on) we are in for quite a few players, so I don't think there is any need to panic yet.

The Fab and Nasri situations were always going to have an effect on our transfers, thats why they need to be sorted out asap. When they are sorted, I expect alot of movement.

People need to chill out, I for one don't think we will be as weakened without Fab, the uncerteness on its own makes us vulnerable as a team. the players I have heard we are going for I think are good players and could do really well at Arsenal.

Arsenal can't get the top top players, you need to accept that. We haven't won anything for years :DD

I think we are going to spend more money in this transfer window than we ever did before, especially if Fab and Nasri go.

I agree I think we will manage after post Fabregas. He wasnt as influential in the last season . I`m just glad RVP seem to get over his injury plaque done with .

Wow do they?

This guy must be ridiculously loaded! Wonder who else is on his client list!? what's his name?

exactly. if we dont replace fabregas with sneijder or someone like him. where going backwards.

no movement so far from arsenal. no one wants denilson, almunia or bendter for fucksakes and where about to lose fabregas and possibly nasri :CONFUSE::FAIL:

It said in Arseblog that European clubs transfer windows (or something along those lines) don't start until the 1st July.

So that might be the reason why the players we expect to leave aren't leaving at the moment, as I think it was clubs abroad that were interested in them?

Next couple of weeks there will be alot of action!

Well there is a statement of intent. FCB renew Thiago contact for next four years and buyout clause now €90m.

I think this time the anxiety for unloading some players is almost the same for new arrivals.
Denilson, Almunia, Bendtner... all must go. Diaby should go too, but it seems we will have to suffer another season with him.

Of course, the sooner the Nasri and Fabregas situations are resolved, the better. AW is very slow in the transfer market as we know it, so we cannot have these departures at the last minute.

I just wish this Fabregas thing didn't happen at least for another season. I really wanted to see him lift a trophy for Arsenal. On the other hand, Lord knows when this will happen...

The longer the nasri and fabregas saga conttinues the more worrying it gets as if they leave at the last minute we wont have time to replace them or use teh funds to improve other areas of the team.

its not looking good. out of the top teams in the PL. arsenal needed to make much more noise in the transfer market then the others

Second to that, mate. I'm worried, but if we don't see some serious action come July 1st, I'll be seriously upset.
I don't want to be a pessimist, but I don't have a good feeling about this either.
Even if both of them left today, there wouldn't be enough time for Wenger to replace them, as it takes ages for him to count pences and bargain.
I appreciate the good bargains Wenger gets, but the time now is for urgency.

I think you two are mental to be this worried.

Just because we haven't rushed in and paid over the odds for players, doesn't mean it is not going to be a successful period. You need negotiations.

As I said we have been linked with lots of players, good players and also defenders which everybody is crying out for.

I am excited, I will only get like you two if in about 3 weeks time we are in the same position, then I will be Mr Worry pants and join your club :DD

3 weeks is not long to go pal!

yea and dont forget that most players are in vacation right now...and they dont wanna heard about transfer stuff... After the july 1, lets the frenzy begin cause its going to be ugly ahah =p

Well some journalists asked AC Milan's vice-president Galliani if Fabregas is the big signing for Milan, he said he is going somewhere else. Guess it's all but done.

Not been talked about much - but maybe the sale of Fabregas is just the kick up the backside that Wenger needs to reinvigorate his role as manager of Arsenal. Things have been quite smooth for the past 5 years: settled squad, play well til March, collapse and reflect that the bigger spenders have won again. Maybe the 'fun' of rebuilding with a big pot of money could really get Wenger going again.

Heard Honda might be moving on - isn't Wenger a big fan of his?

That hasn't been the case though? He's actually been pulled back 3-4 times in the past 5 years and will be again, if anything he might be losing patience.

Cole
Flamini
Adebayor
Hleb
Henry

I don't think he wanted to lose any of them, Fabregas may soon be added to that list.

Why do footballers tend to suck?

A girl whose arm was broken in a vicious nightclub brawl after she snubbed footballer Jack Wilshere claimed yesterday she was left in fear of the England star.

Kim Plested wept in court as she described how her boyfriend Dan Farnon was “kicked continuously” by two of the Arsenal midfielder’s pals as he lay helpless on the ground.

Referring to 19-year-old Wilshere as “short and cocky”, she added: “I just remember him as the angry one. I was frightened of him.”

PA Kim had been out celebrating her 21st birthday at the Amika club in Kensington, West London, when trouble flared last August.

She says a row broke out after Wilshere kept telling her, in front of her boyfriend: “Let me buy you drinks, I’ve got more money than them – leave your friends.”

And she claims fists started flying when he later made a crude sexual remark to her about “sloppy seconds”.

Recalling Wilshere’s initial approach, Kim said: “He was short, shorter than the rest of his group, and cocky. I didn’t know who he was. I wasn’t interested. I said, ‘Just leave me alone’, I just kept saying, ‘Go away’. He did in the end but I could tell by his face he didn’t like to be ignored. He obviously wanted my full attention and wasn’t happy about being rejected.”

But after starting the trouble with his “unimpressive behaviour”, Wilshere backed down as his friends and Kim’s slugged it out, the jury at Isleworth crown court was told.

Prosecutor Warwick Tatford said of the £50,000 a week player: “He seems to be the one doing the chatting up and bragging about having more money. But although he starts it all off, he doesn’t get involved in the violence itself.”

Wilshere, who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Lauren Neal, 22, in August, was caught on CCTV grabbing one of Kim’s friends by the lapels. He then back off while his mates get in a fist-fight with two of Kim’s pals.

Her boyfriend Dan, 22, was left with a gashed eye and Kim suffered a broken elbow as she put her arms around him trying to protect him. “They just carried on kicking,” she sobbed.

The court was told she needed metal pins inserted in her arm and was still receiving treatment. Mr Tatford said: “She was innocent, but she got the nastiest injury of all.”

The court heard the punch-up started as Kim’s group were outside waiting for the stretch limo she had hired to take them home to Surrey.

Wilshere was later given a caution for common assault, while his two friends Adam Mardell and Duane Brailsford each pleaded guilty to affray. Brailsford, who caused Mr Farnon’s injury, also admitted assault.

Now two of Kim’s friends, Bradley Martin, 23, and Elliott Fowler, 24, both of Farnham, Surrey, are standing trial for affray. Both deny the charges, claiming self defence.

The case continues.

No suprise...
Thats the way English footballers are ... most of them!!!
The main reason i think is money and popularity those things make them arrogant!!

EDIT:
I just had and crazy idea if Fabregas leaves why shouldn't we go for Kaka he is unsettled in Real and would fill in Fab's spot. Why not to splash the cash on him!.....Oh yeah the reason why not is Wenger and his head!I think he would do well in Arsenal!!
