Arsenal Thread

No Ralf for the rest of the season:

http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?...blid=&Title=Lauren+to+miss+rest+of+the+season

Our ENTIRE 1st choice defence is now out of action or unavailable. Surely this is a first? The back four that served the side so well in 03/04 is simply not there anymore. Add to that the fact that the back-up left AND right backs are injured, surely this is the worst defensive crisis the club has ever suffered?

Throw Keown a shirt...

Whats all these nonsense talks about not bringing Campbell to the world cup.

In the last two tournaments his been one of Englands best players and has been in fifa's dream team.

Christ this season is a nightmare luckily I've learnt football isn't everything or I'd be more down than I am with this season. I was half expexting this kind of season aswell but I didn't predict that so many of our full backs would get injured. What a season to forget unless we beat Real..

everyone goes on about our poor defence but they won't this week cause we don't have one. unless there are some youngsters that are gonna step we could end up with only two on the pitch, and considering our first team aren't exactly the best at the defending our rough is gonna continue. i can't quite picture birmingham beating us but i couldn't picture west ham doing it either. first time this season i haven't been expecting a win this season (and yes i do expect us to win every game usually, i always think "this will be the one that turns things around").

First of all, all the best to Sol - one of the best defenders English (if not the best) over the last 10 years.

However, here's my theory:

1. Rumours surface about Sol being gay...partly due to his tidy look.
2. His brother nearly kills someone for calling Sol gay (if it wasn't true...would he react so badly? - seems like his brother was trying to hide the truth more than anyhting else)
3. A newspaper catches Sol in the act with another man.
4. Sol knows he's been caught. Tries to stop the story (which he has done for a number of weeks/months - coinciding with his poor form). However, the paper wins the right to print the story.
5. A story emerges that Sol is obsessed with an 18yr old girl and lots of other woman - hmmm, work of the agents? A bit to conveniant I think.
6. (THE FUTURE) Sol is brought out of the closet.

The guy's personal life should be his business. I don't care whether he is a closest homosexual or shoe fetish lover, as long as he puts 100% down for the team, I don't think anyone cares.

Having said that though, I can't believe how the media goes all crazy when Sol clearly needs a bit of space to himself. That must be so suffocating - no wonder its effecting his game.

In a professional were the mentality of the majority of your colleagues haven't changed since high school (e.g. the Fowler-LeSaux saga), I can't blame any footballer for keeping their sexual preference a secret. I just hope we don't lose one of England's best players in recent times in this childful manner.

What a relief!! I am feeling a whole lot better tonight! Amazing what a win can do for you isn't it?

i was more amazed at Adebayors hair... what shampoo does he use, cos that hair has got some volume! :P

It was nice for Henry to reach out to Sol during the aftermatch commentary too. Apparenty, Sol is back tomorrow in full training.

Here's to a better future Sol. :salute:

madrid in just over a week! wive any luck we should have a defence by then, will ashley be back? or even sol? i think toure ans eboue should be available which will be handy. i can see us pulling it off, although it could all go horribly horribly wrong. let's not forget an easy game against bolton first...

He uses that cheap cockney shampoo.

It only costs pan ten (cue cockney accent)

i know this is late now but a couple of days ago people were questioning arsene as a manager. i was just looking over clips from 2003/2004 season and you people have a very short memory. in that season people witnessed football that was never played in this league before and we may never see again. i know this is off-topic now but it was just moments ago i saw this clip so i'm quite hyped up. we were the best without money from russians and that was down to arsene. he's doing it again now and we will be back.

to all the gooners who feel down about the current situation dig out a video from that season and look what that man has done. in arsene we must trust. i salute the single greatest person that has ever been a part of this club.:salute:

Yeah, Arsenal were great (still could be again), but other teams such as Liverpool with Beardsley and Barnes and Man Utd with Cantona, Hughes, Kanchelskis, etc were just as great and played very beautiful football.

Sol is a great player who needed some 'time out'. I hate our media - bunch of assholes who stir it up instead of supporting our talent. Best of luck Sol mate.

well sol is back and should be ok for next tuesday, as well as kolo and eboue being back and hopefully ashley we may actually have a team to put out. i'm hoping to see theo play this week, if he is to he is more likely to feature against madrid which would be very interesting.

well that'll silence the critics...

for fucks sake are CIV actually gonna win the thing. well they might as well, it won't affect us now.

Have to agree with you there...

I'd play, if fit...

_____________Henry----V.Percy_______________

Cole/Eboue...Campbell...Toure...Gilbert/Eboue

Toure should cover Campbell with his pace. If Cole plays, then maybe Pires on the left also as they link up well.. if the right Pires turns up.

I think Van P will cause them a lot of problems, and Henry could take advantage of the centre pairing who are not reknowned for pace. Reyes will be up in the shop window, so we know do a job too.

On the other hand, Ronaldo will be a handful.. as will Robinho... will have to watch for the Ronaldo lollipop, knock the ball forward, run into the defenders leg a la Rooney at Old Trafford on Campbell.

Hopefully, we won't be on the receiving end of a spanking, and a win here will boost our confidence for the final push.
