Arsenal Thread

Joystick, whats the point in arguing? They support Utd so they must be right. Save your breath mate.

I know, I know. I don't know why I bother, just always get sucked in. It's actually really boring, like being 14 again. :p

My word, WE HAVE TO WIN tonite. Grandpa Teddy always scores against us as well so I reckon it's gonna have to be an all out display from the forwards.

West Ham have players that can hurt you if you don't concentrate, but at home this SHOULD be meat and drink for the first team. If we show some of the commitment we had in the Bolton game and a bit of the flair from the boro game then I fancy us 2-1 winners.

No Ralf, for a month ](*,) So the makeshift defence just got more makeshift. I reckon:

----------------Lemon----------------

Fiddy---Campbell----Djourou--Big Phil

-----------Flamini--------------------
----------------------Diaby-----------
Hleb-----------------------------Reyes
-------Van Air shot------------------
-------------------Henry-------------

Reyes is out of tonights game mate, he's suspended so I imagine Pires or Freddie will slot in.

Anyone know when Theo will start making the squad?

It really is another make shift team for tonight for you lot.

Whenever I hear Wenger in an interview this season particulary after a loss, he always seems to say the same thing about team spirit, beliefes about the team and then after another loss the Arsenal team seems to be the same in away games but he always seems to say the same thing even though there isnt any change in the away games.

Theres definatly 2 sides to Arsenal this season

At Home - High confidence, good passing/moves/finishing

Away - Low confidence, out muscled, sloppy play, trying to walk the ball in

Please, are you serious? Put Walcott, Adebayor and Diaby together and you're still £8m short of the £30m you payed for Rio.
were not talking about RIO are we!!! Were talking about vidic and evra compared to your three signings, you stated earlier united had spent loads of cash and have nothing to show for it, i was just pointing out you had spent alot more in the same transfer window... and well your out of both domestic cups, your clinging on to a spot in europe, and yeah your still in the champions league, but its not like you conquered world beaters on the way to the knock out rounds... if you win the champions league and finish higher place in the prem, then all the kudos go to you and yours, if not and you stay the same , your season was a miserable failure, and i will say the same thing about united if they fail to win any trophies and finish 5th in the prem

Ha! What a joker. I bet his sponsors loved the fact he was walking around the course with a massive, gold 'O2' on his shirt. :)

Thought I better put this in here in case of the little loves in the Chelsea thread take offence.

LITTLE CHELSEA

Wenger should think before he speaks:

"Errrrrm Iz think weeee willl errrrrrm finish zecond this season errrrrrrm Henry is going nowhere errrrrrrrm . . . ."

How many times have we hit the post/bar first, then the other team score first and go on to win? At least 6. Fine lines people, fine lines. Anyway, thas no excuse, we shouldnt be gettin raped at home, by any team let alone WH. At least none of the top 7 won I think, so not too much damage done, but we didnt capitalise. We cant let our home form go cos its all weve got. lol.

If we get CL, i would be surprised, and shouldnt be, but i would be over the moon with 4th place.

Arsenal will not win the Champions League with teams like Chelsea, Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in it.

To be honest, I think Arsenal should get the place. It is the best four teams - and Arsenal are one of the best four teams despite their poor run.

Thats like saying teams are too good to go down!

stop posting in capz plz, we're not blind.

Funny how your dissing bentley, thought you'd be gutted after letting him go? ;)

Ones things for sure, Arsenal didnt deserve to lose. Did you see Henry's bicycle effort? Just seen it on MOTH. Van Persie looks better the more I see him.

But yeah Arsenal should get fourth, cant see spurs holding on to it.

i`m using 1280x1024 not used to small pixel,and i`m
not dissing whatever that means, just seeing Bentley playing like that against manyoo, made me think of our miss opportunities.someone so small, like a fly getting open like that...clearly it help when rio plays like he did, almost like sol

dissing is slang for putting someone down ;)

bentleys first two goals didnt really require any sort of skill tbh. But his third was class.

But back on to Arsenal, what happened to Sol? heard he left the stadium at halftime after getting subbed? another name to leave?

Campbell blames himself - Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals he substituted Sol Campbell in the 3-2 home defeat to West Ham because of the defender's poor "mental state".(bbc sports)watch the video

At least ppl will start to see how bad a manager Arsene Wenger really is now he has to create his own team.
He couldnt ever win an away game in europe with his previous teams that other managers would have used to conquer europe.
Arsenal unfortuantly have the Dutch styndrome that previous clubs like Barcelona have suffered from where they have a lot of great players that think they are great and cant dig in and get results when they need to.

Lol what are you on? LSD?

Double team of 1998, bought in new players (Anelka, Overmars, Vieira, Petit, Wreh, Grimandi - to name a few) and intergeated these into a team with a magnificent established defence.

Double team of 2002, shipped out Anelka, Petit and Overmars for huge profits and brought in cheaper versions who were better players - Henry, Pires, Ljungberg and improved the team even more. This was his team as only Keown, Adams, Seaman, Parlour and Dixon remained from the Graham era.

Unbeaten Champions 2004 - Only Parlour & Keown remained from the pre-Wenger era. The team was his own work. Went the whole season unbeaten.

Present day - He is again team building for the 4th time, this time with talented youngsters who will need a bit of time to bed in.

Wenger is probably the best manager we have ever had, he revolutionised the English game when he arrived, changing players diets and training methods. So much so that every club in the land sat up and took notice, even copied his methods. He was also the first foriegn manager to win the Premiership.

To say that he is a bad manager is just delusional.

That was the worst night since our champions league knockout to Chelsea!. Thankfully Man U fucked up last night as well to take a little bit of the attention off of it.

Hopefully Cameroon will stuff the Ivory Coast and we'll get Kolo and Manu back cause playing two central midfielders as full backs yesterday is a joke.

i think my girl summed it up last night by saying most of our players had peaked. Even though Freddie covered EVERY blade of grass, and Pires popped up at the end with a goal, they seem like players of yesterday.

Van Persie was unstoppable, but didn't seem to be as effective once Bergkamp came on and he was moved to the left.

I wonder what was the decision of not buying a certified centreback or full backs in the Jan window. Prob due to the fact that top players maybe cup tied etc.

Wondering about Henry also as he seemed to shout 'F*cks Sake' at full time as he was running down the tunnel. I know everyone is saying stuff about this whole transition period, but this is a season i'd like to forget... surely the teams demise can't all reflect on the selling on of one player? Putting all our eggs in one basket with the Julio Baptista bid, and selling Vieira before it was completed will go down as one of the pivitol points of the season. I just hope that i'm wrong...prove me wrong Arsenal! Come on!

Short snippet on Sol... had to feel for him yesterday...

England centre-back Campbell, 31, was at fault for the opening goal as his slip allowed Hammers skipper Nigel Reo-Coker to dash through and put the visitors into the lead on 25 minutes.

Things got worse when the defender's slip allowed Bobby Zamora space to turn in the area, the former Tottenham striker sending a looping shot over Jens Lehmann.

Although Thierry Henry pulled a goal back - his 151st league strike, bettering Cliff Bastin's record - before half-time, there was to be no comeback for the hosts, who missed the chance to move within a point of fourth-placed Spurs.

Matthew Etherington's strike with nine minutes left proved decisive, even though Robert Pires' late effort threatened to set up a grandstand finish.

"He was very down at half-time and he felt guilty," Wenger said of Campbell.

"We wanted to fight for him in the second half. It was not a disaster 2-1 down.

"I took him off because he was in a mental shape, I felt too much down to come back."

The Arsenal manager also revealed Campbell had taken the decision to leave the stadium himself.

"At half-time I had other worries, I decided to change Sol and then you go on with it," said Wenger.

"I knew it would be better for him personally, I felt.

"You always want your players to stay, but there are exceptional circumstances where you can understand what he did tonight.

"He did not do it meaning disrespect to the club or to the team, but I feel he's very, very down and that's the only issue tonight.

"His confidence is not at the highest at the moment."

Wenger added: "It was a gamble because I had no defenders on the bench.

"At the moment we are of course short because we lost Lauren for the rest of the season and Ashley Cole is not back, Kolo [Toure] and [Emmanuel] Eboue are away, Sol is not well.

"We are short at the back and we have to stick together and defend a little bit more everywhere else on the pitch and go through that patch."

Arsenal had actually started the match in promising fashion, with Henry seeing a goal-bound effort strike team-mate Freddie Ljungberg.

"We lost and it's difficult to understand how we lost because their keeper was very busy and our keeper was not busy," said Wenger.

"Overall, commitment was right, the quality of our game was right and we succumbed to basically mistakes that can of course happen in football."

For Alan Pardew, it was another night to be proud, his side being the first West Ham team to win at Highbury in the league since 1995.

"To win at a blue-riband club like this is fantastic for us and we have to take some stuff from it," the Hammers boss said.

"You can see that we always look like we can score goals and I think, at any level of football, that gives you an advantage."

However, Pardew urged caution, despite his side having climbed up to ninth in the table, a fine effort after coming up through the play-offs last season.

"I felt we got a little bit naive at the end," he said.

"This young team hasn't won at one of these top clubs yet, so we got a little bit deep in the midfield and we were exposing ourselves to pressure.

"So we need to learn that we can win at big clubs now so perhaps next time we won't do that."

There was last season when Wenger wouldn't play him... i read somewhere his mindframe wasn't right, and he was contemplating being an actor!!?? wtf!! This man mountain needs our support, at this time where confidence is lacking. Hopefully, he'll become the sharp Sol everyone knows...

Roll on the weekend.

It's the defence. It's beyond frustrating as we created enough chances to win the game by 4 or 5. In the end we got two but that should have been enough to win.

All three of West Ham's goals should have been dealt with. I don't mean that as any disrespect to the Hammers but the first two were Campbell fuck ups and the third was a lack of communication between a back four made up of two midfielders and a pair of Swiss teenagers. If you gift goals you deserve to loose and thats the story of last night.

On a different note, last night was a bad one for England centrebacks. Sol subbed at half time, Rio sent off and Terry blatant handball in the box + dusted for that Villa goal. The difference of course is that Chelski didn't loose, as per :(
