Arsenal Thread

Henry is too complex a character to work out!

It was disappointing to go out but Wigan did deserve it based on their effort over the two legs. However if we took our chances and learnt how to defend the long ball we would be in a lot better position. I would drop Senderos at the moment and put Djourou in, he was playing OK before Sol came back.

I agree that Gilbert is a good prospect and will fight Eboue for Laurens deputy. I liked the look of Diaby, he seems confident in possesion and isn't scared of the tackle. Anyone know why he came off at half time?

How shit was Gilberto again last night? He couldn't pass, dribble and he goes in to tackles so half heartedly I'm suprised he hasn't broken a leg yet.

Someone needs to tell Reyes to stay on his feet as last night he could have got a couple of shots off rather than going to ground.

Why has reyes always got to go down as if he has been shot?

It's a common trait in the premiership. Robben does it, Drogba does it, Ronaldo does it!

It's called cheating!

Lets not get too carried away eh? If you go through, the final outcome could be this...

Senderos and Campbell are too similar to be an effective partnership for me. They are both the big strong man type. IMO you need an athletic pacey CB to complement one of them, ie Toure.

Gilbert reminds me of Cole when he first broke through. Enthusiastic, pacey with good overlapping ability, I think he certainly has a future if not with Arsenal then certainly with a Prem club. I hope we hang on to him and develop him properly and not farm him out like Justin Hoyte.

Reyes, missed pen aside, is working really hard at the moment. He doesn't score enough but his passing and vision is very much in Wenger's Arsenal mould. If he keeps up his much improved work rate he could be a viable replacement for Bobby P.

Last night we paid the price for the insipid display at the JJB a couple of weeks ago. Van Persie's goal should have been a match winner, hopefully he can put a good run together now and cement his place in the side. He's quite selfish, but that's EXACTLY what we need now IMO. Someone to stop looking for the perfect ball and just shoot ffs. :)

Well with Murphy he's the prem's top assister this season and his vision he improving with every game. The ball he slid into Bergkamp last night even took Dennis by suprise. He also puts in a good corner and I think Henry has realised this and has reduced the amount he takes.

It was a great game, i wish it hadn't ended this way.
The freekick was just perfect :)

Good point is to see Diaby doing a good game, he's still young, but who knows, he could become the new Vieira. but let's not rush and see how he really plays. But you can't help noticing that he's got the same physical aspect and he looks strong in midfield.

Reyes dives too much, he should try to stay on his legs, it's really not helping. Most of the times he intercepted the ball, but fell because players slightly touched him. Too bad.

Above all, Henry was just everywhere, let's hope he stays longer, cause without him it's going to be a lot harder to win new titles.

its a bit unusual to play a strong side in the league cup and not the FA. maybe arsene saw the league cup as a more realistic target?

superb free kick by van persie and its good to have him back, a player not afraid to shoot from absolutely anywhere.

Anyone been watching Sky Sports News today? The Wigan players thought they were going through to penalties at the final whistle! What also made me laugh was the crowd cheering every Arsenal pass like they were going to the final, then a long ball from the back by Wigan opens Arsenal with ease, and BOOM, Roberts scores the vital goal!

The crowd:SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH! :lmao:

I cant blame the fans for thinking they've won but yeah, it was pretty damn funny when they were shut up like that.

Like I said, when you learn the English language, I will comment on your posts.

beboquintero's wasn't a cuss, he was quoting my sig.

And bradley's post was saying the crowd at Highbury wasn't as quiet as the Surrey/London Reds when Mann Yoo finished bottom of their CL group.

It's not too hard to read around the lines, and on another note it's pretty low to pick on someone's grammar when they're clearly not from the UK.

P.S. your avatar is awful. There was a much better version of that doing the rounds a while ago. I think Thomasgoal had it (?)

I've started ignoring those things since we didn't win the World Cup in 1998 with the reverse order system.

They casually chose to ignore the double in 97/98.

P.S. Pires7, surely it's time to change that Av mate. Vieria's gone dude, let it go! :)

thanks JOYSTICK...kind words from a true GOONER.It`s funny how he (ninja)comes down on others grammar and knowing the owner of his club lives in the USA, my state(Florida)and who love and breath NFL

Yeh im looking for a new avatar. Im just finding it hard to replace Patrick. ;)

Its not going to be that easy im afraid

What did Wenger say no, Henry, Campbell or Lauren for the game. Bolton are an hard team to play against even if you have a full strengh team plus its away, very tough game

you're an idiot.

anyway...i reckon we can get a win tomorrow although it's going to be tough. putting out a weaker side might even benefit us, the first team don't exactly breeze through games at the reebok.

I think its disrespect to bolton putting weaker side against them in fa cup. I have feeling arsenal will regret it. Seeing last few games arsenal just havnt been able to cope at the back with long balls. The midfield is weak, but diaby has impressed. He doesnt seem shy from the physical side. But if he aint playing and its gilberto and flamini/frabresgas, then dont be suprised with early exit from fa cup.

i think its because we have done so badly there that we are playing a different side. i'm sure diaby will play as he isn't exactly first team and he will cope better with the physical battles.

Well we all know bolton are the king of long balls and like a physical battle. Allardyce knows his tactics well and i just think playing weaker side and resting big players like henry, campbell, lehmann and lauren isnt very wise. Your away from home against an experienced side and i think its gonna prove very difficult and very amusing if you guys lose.
