Arsenal thread

Another article on Reyes in the Guardian. Better than most around. This paragraph particularly caught my eye.

Reyes is still quiet. He never, ever, goes out, preferring to stay in with his PlayStation and his family. Even now he is asleep by 10 or 11 - almost unthinkable in Spain - and drinks nothing, not even Coke. Water, just water.

I wonder if he plays PES3? :)
Apparently, 'the fastest player on the ball in Europe' and that soudns very promising because now finally Henry will have a striker who can keep up the pace with Henry on those swift counter-attacks isntead of having to pull it back.

Incidentally, I just scored my first goal with Reyes on WE7. A 27-yard FK from the right side with his left boot. Very classy. Give him Beckham's animation. If you've seen him play, his style is very Beckham-esque.
Let's hope that happens tomorrow!

With Reyes coming in and with his style of play I wouldn't be surprised if Henry finishes the season, or next season, on top with the most goals and assists.

100k is a bit small for him. I have always thought he was quite good. He will definately have a Premiership career although he's probably not good enough for Arsenal.

talking of fanny jeffers, I never liked him and I dont understand why we ever bought him, a total flop I feel, just never seemed to do anything or ever gel in with the side and more importantly the style of Arsenals game silky>smooth>fast

It's probably been mentioned before in this thread, but have you ever wondered who an out-and-out striker's competition is at Arsenal? That's right, Henry. So, it was always going to be tough for him because of that. We tried him in a 'No. 10' role and he was horrible. Add to that the fact that he was plagued by injuries the moment he came to Highbury, and it's easy to understand why he never quite made it. Anyway, I wasn't a huge personal fan of his. Sure, I love character, but he got carried away with it. Wish him the best at Everton, Portsmouth or whichever club he goes onto next.

WOW!

What a goal from Henry and IMO Reyes had a brilliant run out there. As soon as he came on he gave an extra sparkle to the team and nearly scored! This Henry - Reyes partnership looks very special indeed.

Anelka deserved the red but I think it was a bit unfair Ashley got a yellow.

Anyway great performance one again lads.

JOSEEEE JOSE JOSE JOSEEEE... JOSEEEEE.... JOSEEE

1. Arsenal

:D

think the ref handled it well imo
maybes a red was a TAD harsh and that tackle by cambpell for the Henry goal was deffo a free kick
all in all a deserved win by arsenal
The top three had to work hard this weekend

Toop right but we're now back where we belong. One more game to complete our best ever unbeaten start to a season.

Gotta love Reyes reaction to that big-headed twatty Tarnat. Got some verbal, stood his ground and walked away with a wry smile on his face. Great to see the team talking to him and supporting him through the match. Should have had a goal too, but an excellent save by James (who had a good game).

Anelka's a dodgy cunt, although I don't think any cards to either side was absolutely necessary in that little confrontation, but the ref got card-happy (like some of the mods around here ;)). Sure, there was pushing and shoving, but what's the big deal? You saw them make up at the end, so let it be. You just know the media (ie. The Sun) will make a big thing out of this.

Good win, in proper shitty weather. Amazing goal by Henry. Bet Reyes enjoyed that.

The crowd's reaction to Reyes coming on and getting a touch on the ball was HUGE. I dread to think what it will be like when he scores his first goal

:D

hmmm... hard fought win for you lot, good job, cmon utd cmon utd

Being linked with Morientes now.

Don't think it will happen. Even thoguh we'll probably lose Kanu, Jeffers, Wiltord and more unlikely Bergkamp I don't really want us to be buying forwards in the summer (as much as I like the links with Eto'o). It will only arrest the development of youth at Arsenal. I like the fact that we have Aliadiere, Bentley waiting on the sidelines while Reyes and Henry command a starting place. A defender might not be a bad buy though.

errr footieballa, if your gonna quote "In My Life" at least credit it to the guy who wrote it........John Lennon. I know it was wet out there today but Pires must have thought he was in a pool, great dive..

Iwas well chuffed for Reyes, what a great first touch for your new team. Acheeky little drag back mugging two players and then making Tarnat look like a twat, stupid german bully.

My dad told me today Lauren was a cameroon boxing champ, can anyone confirm this? No wonder Keown said he's the one man in the prem he wouldn't mess with.

Talking of Lehmann? ;) Let's not get too carried away. It would be stupid to think he wasn't going to get that kind of pushing around and players trying to unsettle him. He handled it amazingly though. Really good character about him. Was playing with a constant smile on his face. I'll run out of superlatives for him soon!

Never heard about Lauren's boxing links. There was rumour some years back when we signed him about dart championships. Anyone remember it? I'll have to look around.

Love the story about the Kenyan sensation Oliech who wants to play for Arsenal. The stuff he says about Chelsea is great.
