I think Arsenal might struggle in the physical battles. Yes they played well against Chelsea but Chelsea arent a physical team.

Don't agree. Fabulous has proved he can mix it plus Gilbert ain't no wimp. Both our fullbacks can "battle" too.

The media is writing us off just like in 2003 and we all know what happened then!! I am quite happy with being written off, just wish Arsene could dig deep for Owen and Jenas and I would feel better with the way the squad is looking.

Its not just about the tackles and the football match. If someone like Reyes or Van Persie was badly tackled, I dont see Gilberto or Fabregas standing up to the ref and arguing with the opposition.

Vieira just like Keane was a leader and like a warrior that you sent out there to fight. Gerrard is a bit like that for Liverpool but I cant imagine Fabregas or Gilberto Silva doing that.

I still cant see him being aggressive...

Wow, brings back memories reading that story. Can't believe Newcastle went top after that!

The point is Henry was never captain before, hence probably why he left most of the verbal slinging to Paddy. But now it's his job to represent the players on the field and personally I don't think anyone is more qualified to do that than Titi (with the possible exception of Bergkamp, but he wont play every game and you need to appoint a captain who will be around for some time.)

The man bleeds red and white (or redcurrant for one season). He's never flirted with any other club, despite the fact he had the opportunity to double his wages at Chel$ki and more recently Barca. He's the model pro, never in the tabloids for the wrong reasons, never missed a drug test, never hit a team mate, never caught up in 'rape' allegations, never the subject of a radio prank, never found sending dirty texts to a PA. I can't think of ANYONE more deserving of the captain's band.... IF ONLY he was English.... :(

LONG LIVE THE KING!

The problem in being a captain is that you have more responsibilities. That means that he will have less time to do what he used to do and will have to spend more time doing the things Vieira did for the team as the captain.

You basically have a choice. Do you want a good captain or the old Henry who is arguably the best player on the planet?

Thats what i felt he was acting out against Chelsea, he seemed like the he knew he was the one that had to save them.

Thats what I mean. Its supposed to be Vieira's job to save the team and Henry's job to win the game.
You can't expect both to be done by one player.

I don't see where either of you are coming from at all.

The job of the captain is to be the manager's representative on the pitch, ie communicate tactics to the rest of the team, to stand up for players in disputes, to have words with players who are getting a bit of stick/playing badly and to inspire the rest of the team by leading by example.

Other than that you just play your game as you always would. It's not like he has to fill out paper work on the touchine or something. Quite the contrary, the captain is usually the most significant player on the pitch or the match winner as you put it. Stevie G is the perfect example, a captain as well as Liverpool's most important player. You could argue the same with Roy Keane at Man Yoo (although it has perhaps been a year or so since he was far and away the most important player on the team.)

Arsenal take the lead..

Undeserved maybe..

Jenas should not have been sent off..

Given was fingertips away from saving the penalty.

Arsenal definately deserved to win but Newcastle didnt deserve to lose.
But thats football, you cant have three points each.
