As far as we know, Arsenal and Man Utd arent really interested in Essien. Its just that Lyon are trying to get more money from Chelsea.

After all, Lyon are the ones that said Man Utd and Arsenal are interested. The clubs themselves havent confirmed that.

Cole: I've always wanted to stay

Arsenal defender Ashley Cole claims he has always been committed to the club.

Cole said he would not play for the club 'for £200,000 a week' and vice-chairman David Dein admitted there may be 'no way back'.

'I have always been committed to Arsenal. I have played my heart out in every game. I have never given less than 100 per cent and I never will.'

'I think it can only make me stronger and more willing to learn and more keen to win silverware. That is my main aim and always has been from the start.'

First Gerrard and now this - what are these foo's smokin'?!

Ello cunts remember me?! nah guess not, well anyway I'm back on the evo-web arse thread and 'it feels so good to be baaaaaaaaaack!!!

I bet they are..whom would,I'm just wondering..did you goons decide to sign Phillippe Christanval? Or is the deal off? He used to be highly rated..not sure about now thou...

I read Song has made good impression and is much more likely to end up at Arsenal than Christanval. The latter of the two sounds like another woodgate to me - always injured!

As for the season, it's a real gamble and looks like a season of experimentation to me. You never know but I feel increasingly like this season's title race will be between Chel$ki and Man Yoo. Arsenal look equipped to beat 9/10 teams in the league but head to head in the big clashes we look thin in numbers and a bit lightweight at the moment. This could all change if Wenger buys some reinforcements of course.

What we need:
A new keeper, as back up to Jens at first.
Cover for centre back.
Perhaps one more DMF (Song?).

Forget Mickey Owen, he's top draw but we got bear strikers.

Any Arse-nal fans slightly worried about the first post-Viera season?

I'm slightly worried about the lightweightneess in midfield but I do think Gilberto will raise his game to take on the Vieira type role and let Cesc work some of his beautiful catalan magic.

Henry, Freddie and Hleb looked good in Amsterdam as well so I doubt it's going to be the one horse race that ugly bald cunt Kenyon predicts.

It's now got to the point that I would rather United win the league than Chelsea :o

Nicky mate, good to see you again, I was reading through my old posts last night on this thread and it's been a while seen I've been on here, anywho, Pat's left us, we need to sign someone, we need a new Central Midfielder for sure, and Wenger surely knows that, although I wouldn't mind seeing wee Micky Owen at the club.

Steady on! Things aren't that bad are they?......Perhaps they are. ;)

At least we're all agreed on Kenyon then.

Looking forward to seeing the mix of players without Viera and wondering if they can pull it out of the bag when the going gets tough.

Mate i'd take pretty much any of your midfielders I think Wenger has got it right.

I was sad to see Vieira leave the league cos he's a top class player but it was a shrewd piece of business and it also shows the youngsters coming thru that the club dont mess about.

I've enjoyed the battles we've had with the gooners especially since Wenger took over, I hope both teams give these fuckin rentboys a run for the rubbles this year.

An Owen Henry partnership would be good if Arsenal had the money..

Owen wouldn't be out of our price range. We have a bout £25 million available for spending.

good!!

thats an understatement, Henry is the most creative striker in the game and Owen is a poacher, that's the perfect combination for an upfront pairing.

Yeah it is exciting to see the new personnel Wenger will now have to employ in midfield in place of Paddy. I doubt he will waver beyond 4-4-2 although 4-3-3 could work.

The bottom line is Arsenal we're going to have to learn to cope without Vieria one day, be it this season or in a few seasons time when he's a bit old to run the midfield. Wenger clearly saw this as the last opportunity to cash in on Paddy, and I don't blame him for it.

Oh and Kenyon,

He just looks like a baldy baddy from James Bond or something. Horrible....

Did you hear that "the champions will come from a select group of one" comment by the bald git (no offence to anyone here if you are as well) Kenyon today on freeview skysports news? Oik.

yep as you can see from my avatar, he was the greatest player at gunners, the wall between the defence and offence, the key, the leader, to soul of the team!

Why he had to go?

Well, I think they were doing good business, realising his value will go down from the age of 30.
