Finally proof to shut up Mourinho and Demento. The figures below show total Champions league games played followed by the venue of the next fixture.

Team Played Followed by Percentage
Arsenal 64 34 home - 30 away 53%
Manchester United 87 47 home - 40 away 54%
Chelsea 40 22 home - 18 away 55%

Personally I'm MORE concerned about facing Arsenal now. Wenger is admittedly annoying, but also a great coach, does amazing things with formerly unknown players, so I'm sure he has a plan. And that plan doesn't require Vieira, meaning whatever his plan, its better than keeping him.
Should be entertaining.
Though, also have to agree a bit with Rune, if its Gilberto, Flamini, Fabregas in the midfield, not a very physical presence there.

Hows the deal with Phillipe Christanval? I saw the game he played against Barnet. He should be a great backup for Toure and Campbell, more reliable than Cygan anyways.

Maybe Wenger wants the Beast to play behind the two strikers, in-the-hole. He started as a midfielder after all, so perhaps Wenger sees him as the provider of muscle in midfield but in more of an attacking capacity, leaving Gilbert and hopefully a new face to do the defensive dirty work.

It's an exciting time IMO, Vieria's sale has meant that Wenger is going to shake up his system and try something new. If there was one criticism I've had in previous seasons it's that other teams always know what to expect from Arsenal, 4-4-2. It's important to keep your opponents second guessing, tactically speaking, and this change around with the right personnel could be a breath of fresh air. One of the keys to Arsenal's success has been the stability of the squad, who have been largely kept together for many years, but all things come to an end.

I'm more reliable than CYGAN!!! Although it was funny to see him complaining about the Vieira sale.

What's it got to do with him, even if we do win the league he would be extremely lucky with player injuries to make 10 appearances.

Surley they cant afford that! wernt they skint before they floated? Im sure they only made about 25m and they have got to have nearly spent that in the last couple of seasons!?

It's a little known fact that Tottenham Hotspunk are actually one of the best financially run clubs in the country. They have a very loyal (fuck knows why), wealthy and surprisingly large fanbase, plus while they do buy a lot of players they rarely spend shit loads. All in all they are pretty water tight compared to the vast majority of prem clubs.

Regardless, bidding on Baptista is purely a stunt to 'prove' that they can compete on the highest level. If Bap expressed reservations about moving clubs, surely he wouldn't then move to one which can't even offer UEFA cup football. He's trying to become a Brazil regular, the only way to do that is to play in the CL, simple as.

well it doesnt matter coz Baptista has said hes staying put for another season, which is dissapointing coz hes just what we needed.even if he was leaving theres no way in hell he would go to spurs anyway

Thats true. He wasnt gonna leave anyway so whats to worry about?

IMO, you should start looking for a new Vieira.

Wenger will have already started looking, no doubt he'll get a decent replacement for half the price, not to mention the quality young midfielders he's already got there.

Isnt he looking a Jenas aswell, we should go for him IMO.

A lot of people have said that we should get Jenas. I just dont see him being aggressive enough.

Aggressive midfielders are not as important in todays game, Lampard isnt an aggressive MF, neither is Arsenals Fabregas (sp) Gerrard isnt exactly Keano but they are all top class players who influence the team in their own way.

Jenas would be a quality signing for any club.

I personally want to see someone like Gattuso. I dont want someone that plays great football but rather someone who can stop others from playing.
Keano could do both but thats why he's Roy Keane.

Thats why we'll be hard pushed to find a replacement.

for me we need someone that plays great football, we've got abit of bite in the team but we need to get back to playing our natural way of football.

Havent Arsenal been linked with Songs younger brother he's supposed to be quality.

He's Song's nephew and he's on trial with us at the moment.

Is Wenger the one that finds all these players or is it their scouting system?

I imagine he hears via his scouts for most but imagine he must have a very good idea of whats going on.

I thinks it's mostly Wenger as he's responsible for placing his scouts. Everyone knows he's very well thought of in France cuz he's a Frenchman in charge of one of England's biggest clubs (similar to when Bobby Robson was at Barca I guess), plus his time at Monaco gives him good links to most French clubs. This explains how he gets to know about players like Anelka, Vieria, Henry and more recently Clichy early. Blatantly French clubs are more inclined to do business with one of their own.

As for the rest, since he joined Weneger and DD have been working on 'special' relationships with individual clubs like Beveren and Athletico Minero in Brazil (where Gilberto came from). These 'feeder' clubs specialise in flogging their players to bigger clubs, as well as finding kids from really remote spots so they are in the European lime light, provided they're good enough of course.

So yeah, scouts basically but the reason they are in place is largely due to AW.

Not sure if this is true but I read somewhere that Man Utd have the most feeder clubs in the world.

the suns reporting baptista deal will be done and dusted today!

...well they got the news about Pat out so im tending to believe them, or at least fingers crossed and praying its so!

another note I cant get the Arsenal game to show on the Arsenal TV channel, dammit!

Hmm, I'll believe it when I see it. He's said twice that he doesn't want to leave spain, even if we get an offer accepted do Arsenal really want a player with his head in another country? I think as a player he's just what Arsenal need, but if he does come is he really gonna be committed? Fingers crossed [-o<
