Cant believe the jenas links, I suppose he does have the potential but surly you want the near to finished article! Wenger has sucsessfully rebuilt before i.e Overmars & Petit and you didnt do to bad out of that! ooh_harry Valeron!!!!???

Didn't want to see Vieira go - especially at that price! but We have to have faith in Wenger. I just hope he hasn't made a big mistake! I'm sure he hasn't...am ...I don't know we just have to wait and see.

I just want to kick Chelsea and Man U's asses in the Premiership and at the moment losing Vieira weakens our team. We need to get someone as good now. Not Jenas! 20million for someone who has a few good games and hasn't won anything....don't make me laugh! The potentials there but for that money we can get someone much better!
 
Sad. and i'm not even an arsenal fan.
Cheap IMO. One of the best in his position, the best for some.

His contract would expire next year, so in the end it was a good sale. I'm surprised RM didn't tried anything. So i wanna see who Ars will bring. But I think fabregas will do a good job covering for him.
 
i think fabregas will be good anough in a few years time, but
at the moment, he just hasnt got the strength or experience to even come close to patrick.
 
Good point Don Domenico. Baptista won't leave anyway, if he does go, he'll go to a Spanish Club like Barca, because he wants to obtain Spanish citizenship. Even though I have faith in Wenger to replace Vieira, I don't see how they are going to challenge Chelsea for the title without an established world-class centre midfielder in Vieira. The fact that he goes for a rather meagre sum of around 13-14 mil, paid in installments also makes me wonder how Arsenal are going to be able to buy someone to replace him this season.

im uruguayan and here the newspapers are saying that he will be an Arsenal player.

Hahaha. I don't see why Arsenal just go out and do what United did, sign a proven keeper.

Please tell us what you think of him. There have been some stories about him in the English press but not much.
 
Baptista will be an Arsenal player by Wednesday according to Sky Sports News. Arsenal and Sevilla have both agreed on a transfer fee now Baptista just has to agree with the terms :D

Im not sure I believe he will be. He wants a work permit dont he.
Anyway, do we really need him. Who's goin to fill the Vieira void? Baptista can't.
A potential player could be Mavuba. Anybody know if hes any good? Hes meant to be like a Makelele kind of player.

Oh, and Henry's captain.
 
I think Wengers has done a bloody good job to get Christinval potentially on a free!! He has the technical ability and european exp. which he displayed frequently at the nou camp but has done a 'woodgate' and missed most of the last 2 seasons with injury.

Come on Gooners lets spare some ink on the issue of who we think, realistically, should replace Vieira. I was entirely shocked that we did not gun for a trade of Stephen Appiah or Manuele Blasi for him. However, Diarra of Lyon, to me, seems like the only player in the same mould as Patrick, and should be a perfect replacement. But I dont think Arsene Wenger is looking for an exact replacement. A lot has been said about a change in the philosophy of the team towards a more free-flowing midfield, where a player like Fabregas will get to see more action. I still think we need a bruiser like Vieira somewhere in midfield because Gilberto and Flamini are not really that sort of player and goodness knows we need some height on our team.
 
Appiah isn't fit to replace Vieira IMO. He wasn't really able to replace Davids either.
 
You also need a diver in your team and someone who gets away with controversial decisions too. :mrgreen:
But seriously, Vieira is a BIG loss. I still cant believe he has gone cuz it happened so suddenly.
Wenger better sign someone fast otherwise this loss can potentially be very damaging.

Arsenal are still a good team technically but I think they're physically a bit weak now. And if teams exploit that, you wont be such a tough opponent to face.
