I heard on Radio five today that the full report on the Ashley Cole saga came into light earlier.
Apparently, your man Viera sent a text to Cole suggesting that he should be demanding at least 95K a week wages rather than the "measly" 60K they were originally fighting for. According to Cole (allegedly), this was one of the defining moments that pushed him to look at Chelsea.

I can't stand that Viera. Fantastic player but he really is a selfish and greedy bastard. All those on-off transfer action in between seasons just got boring & purely cos he was a bit shit this year, he's actually bragging on about how he loves the club and wants to stay out his contract.

I say flog him off to RM as a punishment and get someone else

well end of the day he could of gone to Madrid and increased his salery by 20% but he decided to stay.
 
what he should do is just hold his hands up and say ok i did wrong I accept my punishment take the contract offerd to him and get on with playing for Arsenal but it looks likes hes going to continue with this appeal which in my opinion speaks volumes to me in terms of respect he has for the fans and the club ( in other words none) and personnaly i wouldnt give a toss if we got rid of him,I mean im not gonna support you while your fighting in the courts just so you can have the right to talk to other clubs mate.But what really pisses me off is Chelsea have got off lightly. 300k fine and 3 points suspended penalty dont make laugh
 
The FA could have killed two birds with one stone, take Chelsea's champions league spot off them and give it to Liverpool. Problems solved, trouble is no-one at the FA has got the balls or brains to suggest it.
 
Northstand youve been tapping up for years, Mexes has been on two tours of OT well he was at Auxere i didnt see anyone saying throw you out of the CL!

A lot of teams have been tapping up players. But since we're talking about Chelsea's punishment, that would have been a good idea.
 
the way i see it is, how much friggin money does Ashely want/need?

since when do full backs earn the highest wages?

nothing against him, he is the best in his position, but somebody like R carlos I could dimagine asking for loads of money cause he can hit free kicks too(when he was in his prime) surley £60,000 is enough??


now a story breaks that he wont sign a new contract and wants to play abroad, if this really ends up being true, id stick him in the reserves and make him suffer for 2 years.


Im pissed with Ahsley and also the club, they should have started with a good offer, Wenger even spoke a few months ago about how Ashley should be given a good wage as he is also a Internationl player, but seriously player wages are going OTT at the moment, Rio's wage demends make me want to slap him too.

You cant talk about Cole's wage demands. Players demand contracts like that all the time. The only difference here is that the whole situation has gone public when it shouldnt have. And the only reason it went public was because Chelsea tried to tap him up.
I dont blame Cole one single bit. And I think its sad that Arsenal arent supporting him as much as they should. He's a world class player. I say you should do your best to hold on to him.

Nobody has the balls because nobody is stupid enough to do something so retarded like this, all they did was hold illegal talks with a player, you lot are making out like they ran onto the pitch battering the referee for god sake.

Its obvious you rivals are going to be crying about this for years to come, saying the FA love Chelsea and are scared of them and what not, but the fact is, nobody really gives a shit that Chelsea spoke to Cole illegaly.

Just get rid of agents, these footballers are human beings so if they wanna talk about joining another club, then let them.

I cant believe for one second that people like Cole demand 60k a week, whats the point?..they all claim they love there team and all that bullshit, they obviously dont know what love is then.

He wouldn't stick that out, what chance would he have of playing at the world cup if he wasn't in the first team? Imagine not winning the world cup cause you wouldn't admit you was in the wrong.

As Arseblogger says Ash must shoulder some of the blame. He has come ut saying that he wouldn't sign for another premiership club cause he couldn't imagine playing against Arsenal. THEN WHY SPEAK TO CHELSEA YOU DICKHEAD!!!!!

Runedge :- Arsenal fans have supported him but then he comes out spouting all that shit in the NOTW and no-one will respect a player that trys to slander the club they support. He hasd been poorly guided and brains don't seem to be a strong point of his but surely any adult could see what he's doing is wrong.

I think we should get rid of him (maybe a swap for Eto would be good :)) and use the money from the deal to strengthen other areas of the team. We already have a ready made replacement in Clichy!

It almost points the "You need the English players in your team cause they show loyalty" comments into context. Compare Cole's attititude to that of Thierry!
 
Cole will probably go to Madrid to replace Roberto Carlos.

Actually, a swap deal wouldnt be a bad idea for you lot, would it?
Roberto Carlos would fit into Arsenal nicely. I know he's old but you will always have Clichy for the future.
 
Crikey, its been busy on here whilst I have been away!! I have been on my stag weekend, so forgive me not going into too much detail over Colegate but I do have a couple of things to say.

I did have a hint of sympathy for Ashley Cunt, sorry Cole last week as I feel that he was on the end of bad advice from his agent, regarding the meeting with Kenyon etc. However, I picked the up The News of the World yesterday and couldn't believe what I was reading. However much bad advice he has received in the past is now immaterial, it doesn't take a genius to realise that slagging off the club "he loves", slagging off the manager who brought him into the first team and turned him into one of the finest defenders in world football, and slagging of his vice chairman for the way his contract negotiations were handled, anyone doing this should surely realise he has burned his bridges with Arsenal and will now be sold. This article was not a result of bad advice, just plain stupidity.

This best line was, "I want to go abroad so that I don't have to play against Arsenal". If this was the case, why did he speak to Chelsea!! Has he also not heard of the Champions League? Maybe we will play against him in that. He makes himself out to be the victim, he says he loves the club. I say he is a tosser.

At the end of the day, it looks like he will now get his move and his fat, inflated contract. Lets swap him for Eto'o or Owen, lets play Clichy at leftback and lets forget about this poor, innocent mercenary. We want players who want to play for our great club.

Ashley Cole - you can fuck right off.
 
heard on the radio weve turned down a bid from Juve,seems 15 million at least is what were gonna let him go for.
 
Still a bit bemused really about this whole ugly affair. I guess we know how Everton fans might have felt after losing Rooney (well almost). I personally had Ashley down as one of my favorite Arsenal players, he came in for a lot of stick during his earlier years where the club and the supporters stood by him (remember jibes like this? http://www.tshirts365.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=776) but he came through it and developed into a real standard bearer for the club. Well I really though so anyway.

You've let us all down Ash, not really for talking to another club (you could be eventually forgiven for that) but for talking to another club, getting caught and then seeing fit to blame the management staff who nurtured you into the player you are today, and in the process potentially turing the world of professional football on its head all because you are simply not man enough to stand up and say, "my mistake". Shame on you sir, I respect you greatly as a footballer but you have been exposed as truly a worm of a man.

Step up Gael Clichy. Your time has come son...

P.S. Arsenal are now seriously short of English players for CL regulations. Time for Wenger to start buying up local lads? Maybe this will be the season Wenger is forced to play some more fringe English squad members ie. Ryan Garry, David Bentley, Justin Hoyte, Ryan Smith.

By 2008-09 all CL clubs have to have 8 home gorwn players in their squads. Home grown in UEFA's opinion is a plyer trained by their club or by another club or national academy in the same country for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21.

Think Arsene's gonna be a bit short, so should see some more English players at the Arse soon. This guy could be the first;

The sad thing about this rule is that teams will just buy cheap English players just for the sake of having to and not really use them at all.
 
I swear I heard somewhere that half of the players don't actually have to be English. Eeven if they're foreign they count because we will have brought them through our youth system. I think that by the time the rule comes in players like Fabregas, Senderos, Quincy and Aliadiere would count alongside the likes of Hoyte, Bentley, Smith and Garry!
 
He did well if I remember correctly against Man Yoo In the CL a couple of seasons ago. Thats the only game I've seen him play myself but Im told he's a rapid, tricky winger. 14 assists last season, Pires' long term replacement? He's got decent stats in Pro Evo :) but then so does Harry Kewell :(
 
I read somewhere that he is more like Bergkamp than a winger but when he does operate on the wing he carries out the Pires type role.

I don't think he's the replacement for Pires cause with Reyes playing there so much I think he's ear marked for that slot.

We will just have to wait and see. We might not even buy him! How often do the press secong guess Wenger? I remember when I was at home and I tuned in for the Arsenal press conference expecting us to sign Richard Wright and it turned out to be SOL CAMPBELL. I told all my yid mates it would happen but deep down didn't expect it.

Yeah, I don't necessarily mean a man for man replacement cuz he plays on the other wing for a start. I just mean as a technique-heavy winger with good passing and assit ability ala Bob P.

Can never have too many Bergkamps! I think it's going to take at least two players to replace the creativity he gives the team.

Oh, and congrats on the 1.5K posts (how the hell do you lot get it so high? :P)
