Arsenal thread

Its always very quiet in here when Arsenal don`t come up with the results. Arsenal and England both have something in common - they cannot defend set-pieces.

I could say the same about some of the Man Utd threads regular posters when you don't get a good result but anyway...

Well done to "Albion", they played well and thoroughly deserved their point. Wenger pissed me off as he came out and said we played well, this is bullshit. I understand him not wanting to criticise the team to the press but saying we were good when we were awful just doesn't make sense. Just don't say anything.

We were poor going forward, our goal was fortunate and you could sense that they were gonna equalise. Thank fuck for Bolton equalising against Chelsea otherwise the gap would suddenly be 4 points. Onto PSV then on Wednesday, if we ever need a good performance and result, we need one now.

PSV is on fire at the moment so its gonna be a tough match, watch the young american winger beasley, he is something to watch....

It's certainly not goint to be as easy as the 4-0 drubbing we gave them a coupe years ago. It will be tight.

Watch out for rasicm as well. Last time they were making the noises and throwing shit at Henry.

Yeah, and the racism is rife at the moment around Europe. I reckon you guys will lose tomorrow, due to your bad Champions League form, and PSV`s awesome domestic form.

Yeah we'll see, your predictions are usually correct aren't they? ;)

we'll lose due to their domestic form? how does that work then?
If you win a series of games and build up confidence, a team could get enough momentum (Like Chelsea) that their domestic form would definately affect their european games.
Its the same for every team, except Arsenal :D.

Saw them on the weekend against Roda, and they didn't look to hot. Hesselink went off with a shoulder injury, so don't know if he's playing. Good news is that Campbell is back! Hopefully will shore up the defence which went from titty tight to piss poor. Wenger should be teaching these boys to head the ball out like the Adams/Bould/Keown era. Notice how we don't hoof it outta defence neither? Seem to do triagle one touch, or pass it across the face of goal!

[Start rant] Why the f*CK do we do things the hard way? [end rant]

I predicted a 'Kiev last minute goal great escape' ending to the initial group stage ending - we always do things the hard way - probably why i love the club so much!

Bit of humour - Nows possibly not the time to transpose out domestic form to Europe! I would laugh out loud, but i can't.. pains me to.

COME ON ARSENAL! Don't feck this up... we got the Rosenborg at home for the last game - so don't leave it till then or to other results having to have a bearing on what happens!

PSV needs a new striker than stand out. Just like past strikers like Romario, Ronaldo, Van Niselrooy and Kezman. I don't rate Hesselink as a very good player.

I`d like to think so, actually! I predicted we would beat Arsenal 2-0. Spot on! :applause:

just wanted to say hello folks - just recently introduced to evo-web

Sibon will replace Vennegoor of Hesselink. Tall, former-Ajax (considered not good enough), technical striker who even played at Sheffield Wednesday (!). It'll end in an one-one draw, I think.

PSV Eindhoven (4-3-3): Gomes; Ooijer, Alex, Bouma, Lee; Van Bommel, Cocu, Vogel; Park, Sibon, Beasley.

Arsenal (possible; 4-4-2): Lehmann; Lauren, Toure, Campbell, Cole; Ljungberg, Vieira, Fabregas, Pires; Reyes, Henry.

You goons nervous??

Surely with the best team in the world EVER, there should be no problems. I mean after beating the likes of rosenberg and panawhathisname not to mention the likes west brom and palace, europe is surely shiting it.

c'mon goons!!

Im really pissed off with the referee, what a cunt. He spoilt the game.

There's little that can be said against the red cards.

Arsenal will go through anyway. Even if they lose against Rosenborg. Panathinaikos won't win against PSV.

There was nothing wrong with the ref. Lauren should have been send of for asking for a yellow at once, I hate that kind of behaviour. Viera's red was a deserved one as well. Arsenal just can't seem to play well in Europe, blame the lack of tactical sense Wenger has. He's relying too much on a too familiar tactic and he doesn't have the know-how to adjust once teams surprise him.

Simple.

There's alot that can be said. Vieira's was ridiculous. Lauren's was more of a red but he was unlucky with only 2 fouls compared to Van Bommel who did about 7 and recieved no yellow.

I think Pana wil beat PSV coz PSV wont really give a shit so theyll rest a few players. So we'll need to win.
However this may play into our hands coz if we beat Rosenborg and PSV lose to Pana well be level on points with PSV and we'll be group winners.

Did you watch the game?? Sounds like you didn't. No complaints against the Lauren dismissal, but Vieira's second booking was a joke, you won't see a cleaner tackle all season. Plus it was maybe is 3rd\4th fould of the evening. Van Bommel made 8 or 9 nine fouls, all unpunished.

We were the better side I felt, with a bit more luck could have won. We had 2 great chances after being down to 10 men, Henry fluffed his after running half the length of the pitch and Van Persie scuffed his cos the ball bobbled as he hit it.

BTW, thanks Vann for you kind comments about our team, its appreciated!!

Gotta love Vann... like a ho. Makes comments that make you feel, God, this guy is one of the most knowledgable around, and then when it's time of the month, has a nice verbal diarrhoea attack! :D So don't knock him... it is a discussion forum - ableit his non so encouraging remarks! ;)

Thought the game was ok, if Henry has hit that chance when he twisted out Bouma a bit cleaner, then we would be smiling like idiots today. But, in a high tempered, high tempo game, cards were going to come out - and Lauren was an idiot. I don't care - fucking play the game to the ref, even if he was a wanker. Vieira's was a strong premiership type tackle - but hey, got the ball, got booked. Team should have just knuckled down.

Did anyone see when Ooijer fouled Henry by the studs in the achilles? Henry pulls down his socks to show all his skin cut away.. ouch!

That looked painful!! I hear he is carrying an achillies problem before last night, lets hope he can recover for Sunday.

I reckon they should rest Henners on Sunday. If he's carrying an Achillies then you dont want to risk losing him long-term, for fucks sake we just got Campbell back, really cant afford another notable absentee.

Does anyone know the state of Van Persie? Our treatment room is becoming more crowded than a Manchester dole office...

Shit, this is what i just read on football365, Henry can't walk at the moment as his achilles is that bad, Persie is either a knock or a twist, they'll know more tomorrow. Reyes is a kick in the knee... and Bergkamp is injured too. Aliadiere is out for the season!

Think this is a job for Abeyie and Ryan Smith up front! :)
