2010 FIFA World Cup

How can they still fuck up authenticty on the strips?

The england numbers look down right stupid and anyone who has never watched football before can take look at Englands strip and tell the fonts don't match the game's

It's inexcusable for an officially licensed World Cup game. Surely it's not a huge effort to get all the fonts and numbers right for the 32 qualifiers? It's not as if each team has it's own font i.e. the font on all Puma kits is the same for example.

Is anyone else concerned that for a game coming out in about a month there has been very little news regarding gameplay changes. Even of Rutter blatantly lied about there being new features like the "quick flick on the right stick" to switch feet on the ball he still got out there to let everyone know. I feel like they know there only appealing to the forum types, and figure no matter what we will buy it. I don't want this game if they can't fix that lines we've been asking for since the 09 demo, which could have easily been done in a gp patch (OF WHICH THERE WERE ZERO!!!), or if defenders do their best matador impressions in the box.

No, it follows the exakt same pattern that UEFA Euro 2008 did. They are probably still selling a decent number of copies of FIFA10 and there isn't really any reason to be marketing this game a lot. The World Cup games is targeting to sell to people who sees it and think "oh, the World Cup game" and the hype for the World Cup won't start for at least a couple of monts yet - they will probably advertise the game during/slightly before the WC but right now there is really no reason to do this.

We all now (well..atleast everyone should know this) that there won't be a lot of big gameplay changes and of course they want to save this to when it's closer to the release of the game and closer to the World Cup. So if you're expecting big changes in how the game plays, then you will be disappointed becuase that is not what these games are about really.

(And no..Rutter didn't lie about that, it's very much possible, although via the left stick just as he said)

He's looked that way for two years or so now?

Maybe two years ago, not three weeks ago during a Europa league match ;)

This one thing that really pisses me off on EA because they have the licenses and don't make them. The Numbers of the teams that have real Numbers are "OK" but the font...it just looks like shit.
The other thing is that EA "can" make them good but I don't why they don't "make" them?:CURSE:
They made the font and numbers perfect in "Road to the Fifa WC 06 especially the nike numbers on the back

just look at this screens and compare them with now(numbers and font):

do you noticed something?

;) too true, but it's all MS's fault for limiting the DLP size, EA would have sorted all the problems out with FIFA 10 otherwise...:P

Ah...was not aware of this. Would you mind enlightening me a bit more on this subject-I know, for example, Madden, though riddled with AI issues etc. released three gp patches, I believe. What about FIFA makes a seemingly similar sort of patch too large of a file? Are there any work-arounds which technically inclined folk would be aware of that EA may or may not be taking? I was under the impression that the team were resting on the initial praise they received from reviewers/fans based on statements they made during their announcement of whatever patches they did release. On a side note, who whacked Davies in the head with a slapjack and subsequently sent him to Gitmo?

Miccoli has given Maradona the earring back already in the game :D :

There´s variety of goals on fifa 10 playing on manual
True Fact.

I played 4 games this evening:

Barcelona 1 - 1 Valencia

Cross from the right bounces over the defender and Xavi stabs the ball in.

Barcelona 1 - 0 Valencia

Pique nods home at the near post following a cross from a short corner.

Wigan Athletic 0 - 1 Liverpool

Defensive clearance hits Gerrard and bounces through to Torres who fires home (this goal was basically as near to a video game recreation of Torres' last minute goal against Villa as you could possibly get).

Blackburn Rovers 1 - 2 Liverpool

Gerrard cuts in from the left and arrows in a shot.

Gerrard, this time from the right, pulls the ball across the 6 yard line and Torres slides home.

I really hope fixed that ludicrous stadium panning cutscene when you make a sub, really hate that one, IMO the camera should zoom into the player coming off and then depending on his mentality, current match performance, team's performance he'll 1. look around in surprise, point to himself then jog off 2. look shocked, wave his hands around before walking off in a huff or 3. untuck his shirt, applaud the fans then jog off, at which point it has loaded the sub/number board/4th official so it can cut to that to do the changeover, oh and if I take Lennon off to put on Crouch they should not look the same fooking height thank you!

The Online Ranking System sounds really good and hopefully something that is also implemented into FIFA 11:

Added incentive to cheese I'd imagine. I just hope they fix the filters so that I can actually find a manual match this time. Randoms cheese no matter what and if I get matched up against a random who now has a goal of getting promoted to the next division, you know they'll be trying extra hard (read: cheesing extra hard) to get there.

Seriously though, they need to bring in the separate manual/semi/assisted leaderboards if they're gonna do this, and fix the filtering process.

That's the thing - any division system that bunches manual and semi players in with assisted is fundamentally borked. FIWC types won't give a shit that a Div 3 manual player is likely to be very bloody good. They're Div 2 or 1 with their assisted sweet spot ping pong goals, and that's all they care about.

By God I hope there's at least a sim mode this coming edition.

online in fifa 10 at the moment is an absolute joke. Its like everybody knows the exploits now and use them all the time. Im praying for seperate manual/semi leaderboards coz ive just had about enough. Aaaggghhhhhhh!

yea, it has turned into an arcade with all the exploits, assisted controls and high stat players

potentially a very good game ruined.

it becomes a great game again with manual v manual.

that is all they have to do with a few improvements.

yea i cant find a game though custom match search either

goes to show. wish they would strip assisted controls and make it more of a simulation

with manual controls you have to think about your passes and touch which means a slower more natural game

unlike click, sprint, click

I almost always find a game when searching for manual. Well, sometimes I have to create a game but I'll always have an opponent in 2-3 minutes.

That said they do badly need to promote manual. At least Rutter said last year just before the game going gold that they had started playing all manual on the office so hopefully they'll do something about it for FIFA11.

The problem is there needs to be more randomness with manual to calculate for human error. Otherwise, why would I ever want anything other than someone big/fast, because other stats would hardly make a difference. I use semi and manual long ball, the latter feels far too accurate (but is infinitely better than auto). Manual is close, but how can you ask for better player individuality and while your lower league boys are hitting there man with 80 yd passes on a regular basis. Do the manual players out there at least agree there should be (more of) this randomness of outcomes (obviously appropriate to the situation- pressure, position, etc...)?

Yes I agree. What is supposed to be manual is the AIM, not the result. At the moment it feels like we have manual result/outcome which makes player individuality even less apparent.

Like you say, we should have manual aim and then put that aim through the algorithm that calculates the outcome depending on the situation, skills, wrong foot and all that.

Yeh, Its the reason I'm not for Manual at the moment, They really need to make big improvements in

Ball Control/Touch - Everyone has the touch of a Zidane and the close control of Ronaldo/Messi at full pelt.

Strength - Overdone in an aspect, the stronger the player the more sluggish movement he should have IMO.

Stamina - Its a difficult one due to trying to cram 90 minutes into 6-8M halves. I think they should have periods literally where you have small periods were you jog with your players (pitches need to be bigger) and a simple solution for people who try to run all over the place the first point (Touch/Control) should become worse and worse depending on the players ability.

Vision - should be a attribute exaggerated, whenever a Scholes/Xavi/Alonso recieve the ball you should get all the players infront start making runs forward/short creating space and room.

Sort that lot out and its a quality game.

Is that in reference to the traits they had in fifa 08/09 or in the current PES? Either way they really need functional traits a la PES- i.e. Park needs to be... wherever he may be. For that matter, if EA's all about the bottom line, why not attract more PES players by implementing what works well in that game altogether. I haven't played enough of PES the past few years, but I like the way long balls are played and shooters' squaring up in addition to the above.
