Zouma - No surprise, he's not good enough yet.
Nasri - Argument with Deschamps.
Abidal - I think he and Deschamps also don't get along very well.

Is Eren Derdiyok injured?

No, he's been dropped. Hitzfeld wants young players.

The Netherlands will be interesting to watch with such a young/inexperienced team save for the front line (Van der Vaart and Sneijder being picked are a bit strange IMHO..especially the first but i guess that's meant to counteract the inexperience of the team as a whole) Dont think Strootman being injured will have as much of an impact. Its the defense that im worried about the most (and Robben and RvP staying injury free).

Strange to see so many lesser known names on that roster compared to all the years before. Then again, the all star collections from the past never won a World Cup so ..who knows?

it is interesting to see the guy who quitted defending over the last two years or so, evra, being picked over clichy. I know deschamps is a great manager, I trust his choices though.

:O

I hope he plays, he'd be breaking a record!

Tévez should not go, the problem is, neither should Di Santo. He deserves the axe.
I think we're just fine with 5 forwards. It's by far our strongest point, and should not be touched. In his most recent call ups Tévez has done nothing but betray my confidence. There are even been rumours that Batista was lobbied by the Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli to call him for the Copa América.
What still fucking creeps meout comes from the midfield downwards. Our defence is scary. Basanta? Rinaudo? Rojo? MERCADO?
There are pretty decent Argentine backs out there. Ansaldi, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Fazio, Otamendi (who luckily might go), Casco, and the list goes on.
Sabella is too stubborn. His men are going to let him down and still he will be remember as the manager who didn't call Tévez.

It's not about Tévez (He's a prick) It's about the level of some of the players called up. Di Santo wouldn't even get call from another NT manager, he simply doesn't have the level.

england and argentine nts are prime examples of how a manager's role can be so critical in the game.

And how about the midfield. It's just not the Argentina calibre I'm used to. Cambiasso, Veron, Riquelme and other great playmakers who can dictate the tempo of the game and conduct the whole team. Seems like the guys replacing them are no where near that class, though, I'll be honest I haven't closely watched them within the past years.

Gago, Banega were really promising players in Boca when I used to watch the Argentinian League, but their European careers were less than impressive which could speak about their quality.

Biglia? Never really rated him as an outstanding midfielder, always seemed overrated.

Even I've felt the same about Pastore with people calling him the next big playmaker, but surely as good if not better than those players there. And he's not even on there now?? That is awkward.

Time to call Pablito back into the squad. :P

Gago has never had a good performance at club level (coming back to your home country at 25 in South America is quite shameful) but I've seen him do a great job while playing for Argentina. Every ball goes to him and he distributes wisely. Mascherano has been beneath his level for years now, so has Banega. As regards Biglia... he's not bad, he just does his job. I have never heard someone overrating him. Defence still worries me the most.

How about Enzo? He's Benfica's metronome, he should get his shot. Pairing him with Masche could be a good idea as both proved they could excel in a two men mid.

I never lked Enzo Pérez, not even during his time in Estudiantes. His level is not even close to Di Maria's and Gago's. He is not worthy of wearing the shirt.

Modric-Rakitic-Kovacic? World class mid right there. There isn't a lot of teams that can compete with that.

I agree, but we are not so strong defensively, especially on left side where both Pranjić and Strinić are great offensive full backs, but aren't so good when pressure is applied on that side.

I just hope that our midfield with Modrić, Rakitić and Kovačić will work well in Brazil. Against Iceland that worked, but we still need to see how it will be against stronger teams.

Hoping Demichelis gets through. He's had a great last 3 months

Might have to add Holland to my list if Rekik makes it
