Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

There's people on this forum who've joined up and haven't had one good thing to say about PES.

If people don't like this game then fuck off and come back in 30 years when it might just be perfect.

I'll be right here, enjoying the EVOLUTION.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I like the teaser. I did read somebody detected a stutter in Ronado's move, but at the quicktime-movie there is no stutter at all.
My only complain is that this teaser was far too short :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Seems to me that some people think the most important part of PES is to see a pimple on a players chin, and that it moves correctly.

maybe they came here for the intellectual debate

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

What's very funny here, is that all people complaining gonna buy this game ;)
If you want 100% realism, move your ass and go on a field. Stop crying on this game. I'm sure you're playing again and again PES6

I thought we complain because this is where our money is going.

Also, we all get this game, by far not because of its perfection, but because of the massive shortcomings of its replacement (FIFA).

The potential of WE/PES to be better is massive. Whereas the ability of the Konami team to improve the game is suprisingly small.

At the end of the day, one fact will remain. PES2008 will still be the best football game on the market. Are you happy?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

On another positive note, I like that the edit skin mode has almost all possible skin colours. This is great as in PES6 you only had the 4 races to choose from, which was pretty retarded for a 2006 game....

Now the players will look photorealistic from a wide cam.

I hope they add X10 more dribbling styles. They aren't just unique enough...

But still the textures are hardly next-gen and the pitch turfs and colours could be easily beaten by any patchmaker.... a stronger reason to get the PC version of the game.

Wow, people, chill out!
Just think how many parameters has a soccer simulator game. I’m a computer programmer. Soccer is a very difficult game to make. Next gen CPU power is bullshit compared to the millions of millions of triggers that this kind of games needs. Think about the physics for the ball, the players, crowd and the bench. Think how "deep" the gameplay must be to be this game, almost realistic.

Don’t be thankless ,enjoy the Game or go play Fifa!

Excuse me for my English.

Now we have to listen to everyone harping on about games not looking "next gen" every 5 seconds! I wonder if they had that problem back when Pong was created!

To be fair though, pong being the first game ever made makes it hard to call it nextgen seeing at there was no generation of computer games before it ;)

This is not only about music, it's about negativty and a distinct lack of respect for other's people's opinion...his nick alone is provocative...virtually all his postings are provocative.
This has nothing to do with the fact that you like or dislike the next version of PES. This about trying to provoke people.

As winston has already said, its odd you use gomito and respecting peoples opinion in the same sentence. In the past 50 odd pages, If not more, all gomito has added to this thread is an attack on jack, and later on me, for voicing our negative opinion about parts of the game we dont like. IeatFanboy has done the same about the music (which has always been rubbish) and has posted negative opinions about the game and gomito's response is to call him a negative twat for voicing a negative opinion. He then follows up by arguing that its only the music and who cares. Well apparently there are quite a few that wnat to listen to decent ingame music and they are dissapointed. Surely a reasonable arguement to post negatively about it? Personally the first thing i do is turn of commentary and music in pes, and most games for that matter so i dont care. But that doesnt give me the right to moan at people about it.

Regarding the valid ML comment of it being too easy when people use top teams. Well it is, however if you good enough you can also win everything in 4 seasons on 6* with a youth team. Ive done it and it quickly gets boring. Thats why the people that moan about ML, myself included, want it to be bigger and better with decent options to create a better single player experience. The needed improvements arent that diffecult either which is the most frustrating thing about it.

I agree with you that this thread is hell for people who just want the latest news, ive decided to visit wenb first and then browse through the thread for anything new. And i know who's posts to read and whose to ignore, that helps.

Seeing as your a programmer, how hard is it to add some teams within the game when they dont use anywhere near the disc capacity? Or how hard is to to make it possible to be able to change teams during a ML campaign?

I understand your English perfectly :)
I fully agree with you. In post #6103 I worte something similar.
It seems it made no impression to most of the people :)

@tiktiktiktik you almost use the same arguments towards Lettuce as to me. Didn't I convince you? :D

Knight you have no idea the difference between curent and next gen.

1.Skin textures: CURRENT-GEN (and bad too)
2.Grass textures: CURRENT-GEN
3.Lightning: CURRENT-GEN
4.Crowd CURREN-TGEN

Point 1 and 3

PES2008

PES6

Fifa 2007 PS2

2.
Yes you're right about the grass, I've noticed that after watching the HD video many times. However, again, the grass sprites are too subtle. Should be much much longer.

Curent gen PES and Fifa have no grass sprites! Ist is a nexgen feature.

4.
The crowds look EXTREMELY current-gen. All wearing the same clothes, doing the same movement.

LOL the crowds are not perfect, but is 3D and current-gen versions have bitmap crowds. So it is a nexgen feature.

In my opinion pes2008 looks better than fifa 2008. Not in detail but overall. But the pes2008 grafics are NEVER current-gen.

BURN!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I think the animations look very organic/natural. As for the colors: the colors are in fact cartoonish, but overall they are coherrent. To make the game photo realistic, they need to change the whole look of the game (textures/lightening), which will not happen in the nearer future.

FIFA has photo realistic skin textures ("pores"), but it does not fit the the poorer textures used for kits, numbers or the CGI style face models.

As mentioned in another post I'm excited what patching can do to the look of PES...

But to be honest:
When do you use close ups ?
In the first 2 weeks to see all the faces and maybe later when you score your first bicycle.
In online matches it is common scense to cancel the replays, so no need for textures with "pores" either...

Now that Komami's got a working next gen engine (v1.5, PES6/360 was 1.0) we can hope that they'll improve the game modes (ML, Fantasia, Online, combination of all) in future releases.

A better/more complete game can't be expected this year. So I don't.

__

The main reason for the kids to be gutted is:
they get at least 3 or more WE/PES games per year. This means a new game every 4 months. How mush "evolution" can be done in such a short period ?
But the overall progress in 1 year is still good. Maybe Konami should re-think its release policy, but anyway the games are sold...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Why does ANYONE take any notice of The_Knight? All he does is fucking complain about everything..

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

one more thing(as I've seen the pics above):
Konami just should add more blur to the crowds ("depth of focus") to make the close ups even more photo realistic...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

@ Han, no you didnt. I think you have far too much patience with konami regarding the ML :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

But still the textures are hardly next-gen and the pitch turfs and colours could be easily beaten by any patchmaker....

Sorry, but the patches I've seen for the PS2 in particular despite getting rid of the changing grass in the distance, alot of the grass is far too green. I love what the patch makers do, but they are often not too subtle on the grass colour.

The new grass textures look alot better (the close up of Raul) and are alot more realistic in colour.

The grass doesnt need to be longer either, most good pitches look like carpets! Unless you get the camera on the mud, that would be the only real time you'll see blades of long grass. The ball wouldnt glide otherwise. The basball game on the US PS3 store shows this well, smooth pitch, when camera on mud, blades are shown.

Crowds are an interesting one. They are very dificult, most of the time the studios rip a small section of crowd and duplicate it onto large polygons, so that one poly with one texture will cover a hundred seats, this is so there arent many polygons in the crowd (because drawing, calculating or texturing 80,000 reasonably close background non player characters would be impossible and a huge waste of time). I dont expect the next gen to do anything other than making the polygons smaller and the textures more detailed, at most make a few rows of poly people or limiting the close camera shots of the crowd. The effect of a crowd can be seen on the wide shots on PS2, how much slower does it get?? The player wants to see more but the PS2 cant handle the extra processing. It even suffers with just too many players in the box, when this happens the detail of the crowd plays little importance.

What annoys me is that people (not you directly knight) are prefering style (graphics) over substance (gameplay), they want licences and real teams. Just get the gameplay and AI right and the game (most important part) will continue to give after the glitsy graphics and copyrighted names have stopped amazing you.

Can anyone plz tell me if pes2008 will run on the ati radeon X1650?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Even with 2gb RAM? and are you sure because then im gonna have to get a new graphics card........urrgghhh

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Hey any news on whether there will be lower leagues licensed????

Anyway despite the lack of an innovative game engine, that little teaser seems promising. Let's hope they fixed the cutback issue for good and bringed back a heavier ball. At the end of the end is about gameplay and ball physics.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

go and buy one today. I wouldnt hesitate

Hmmm... patientce... I would like to see the ML or fantasia mode much like the rest.
But don't you find it coincidence that two programmers come with roughly the same arguments? ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I would buy this one

that should accelerate your PES to optimal frames
