Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

How appallingly bad is that music by the way. "All I want to do is kick it". Typical European music picked out by Asian's who think it will appeal to said market. It's cheesy, it's crap - get some decent music for crying out loud. I know people who would do the music for £50 and it would be a hundred times better.

its uneducated posts like these that make people go nuts. Do you understand that popular music is not free(you probably dont because you probably havent paid for music, well, ever) you cant just download mp3's and throw it on the game. You have to pay royalties to the artists, and that costs money, and I would rather have konami spend money on development costs then music. All you do is bitch and moan about everything little thing, its fucking trolling.
YOu obvisouly hate PES, and have nothing positive to add to the thread, even though its quite obvious there have been many positive developments, and negative. But you dont care, all your here to do is be an annoying negative twat.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Looks the same old crap to me!

Even though the video is short, it shows that shitty chest move, looks totally rubbish and is so unrealistic. Ronaldo runs weird and the animations look sort of stoppy or choppy.

At least i'm not expecting much from this installment, better than getting my hopes up like every other year.

totally agree!!!
the chst move and the fast turns in winning eleven are totally bad!!!
to bad that this ugly movement with the chest continues...:(

i hope that the turns be more realistic...
why konami is not improving your game???
to bad for us...
and the colors seems to be so old gen...

damn...

sorry for the bad english...
i´m brazilian...

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

All national teams under licence from PES6 are in PES2008 too (+ Turkey, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Scotland, Brazil, Portugal, Croatia), and few others soon believe me ;)

First of all thanks for the info. You are doing brilliantly along with Adonis and Suffdaddy.

ust curiouse, are the few others liscened national teams the rest of them?

I mean we have 18 liscened teams that leaves only about 40 national teams.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Hmm, not so sure about this statement mate. Does Current-gen allow HD output? Nope. And about the grass, I've been looking at the new trailer video for some while and at the end with the goal celebration I saw grass sprites sticking out. So it's not flat like in the previous versions.

Yes you're right about the grass, I've noticed that after watching the HD video many times. However, again, the grass sprites are too subtle. Should be much much longer.

The skin textures are a shame, though. In Fifa07, you can see the skin pores if you zoom in-game... yes that's true.

Other notes on the 1st movie of PES2008:

1) Was it only me, or did the RONALDO running animation seem disturbingly very choppy? I mean it wasn't a video-framerate issue. The running animation seemed very choppy.

2) No 360 movement. You can see in the background of Ronaldo running, another Portugese player (#13) doing the appalling sidesteps. Nobody keeps doing that in real-life unless you can't move 360.

3) Final slo-mo scene: The crowds look EXTREMELY current-gen. All wearing the same clothes, doing the same movement. I can't believe a goal has been scored in a home stadium. You can't see a single flare, coloured strip, OR EVEN A FLAG!!! This makes my issues with crowd colours and animations fade away in comparison.

4) Ronaldo running scene: A lifeless crowd of twin Albinos is scene in the background.

5) At 0:11 seconds: In the background you can see the bench occupied with the substitutes. These are the only living creatures outside the pitch. The rest of the sidelines are EMPTY. Not even a lonely camera.

6) The upper half of the jerseys don't seem to have any changing creases. The shorts move pretty nicely if not too baggy. And I don't think there will be any unticked shirts. Sorry. The whole jersey animation seems to be revolving around the fact that the jersey is tucked in. You can clearly see that in the scene with Ronaldo running. They couldn't pull it off with an untucked shirt.

So that's a step-back regarding the crowds. No flags. I never imagined they could go a step back in a graphical category with next-gen. Congrats, Seab-ASS.

KONAMI has released an official movie. And yet, ppl are still playing the "pre-build" card. Unbelievable.

"you'll have to wait till you see the game in motion". <---- yeah I wouldn't like to hear that one again on any preview site.

That video was appalling Seabass must be smoking something this year.

I fucking know.

I just took a dump in a box.

Anyone got Seabass' address?

After that 5 seconds I feel confident in writing a full review of the game right now.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

looks good. the animations certainly look cool. the new move is also featured. nice.

You do make some fair points but i think you are being abit harsh with the last comment. What you have to remember is this was such a short video and you are not seeing to much. Its not like we seen a gameplay video yet in action on screen there is still stuff to see. Obviously stuff in video going to be same but what we dont see is how AI react and other features so cut some slack abit would you. :)

Im not trying to defend because you make valid points but judging stuff from 15 second trailer you can honestly say you know enough to warrant it to be crap. ?

There also and age old saying "Never judge book by its cover" :)

Dude he did not say anything about getting popular music in the game, he said the music is bad and it is, PES music for the most part always has been, I agree with him that it can be fixed, I see no reason for you to call him names as your post indicates that you have the troll attitude.

who the hell complains about the music, who really cares? thats my point. He finds anything and everything to complain about, %5 of it is constructive, the rest is trolling

The music is part of the game as such he has a right to voice his opinion, if you do not care about PES music keep it moving and ignore him.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Thank you for the support Disqo. I think the point was quite clear but Gomito, bless him, has some troubles comprehending basic English. Because I'm a kind-hearted person I'll try and simplify it for him.

I am not saying Konami should pay for artists like 50 Cent and other garbage popular acts, I am saying they should employ someone with musical talent to produce some suitable, palpable music which is better than the utter GASH they include every blasted year. It appears they've actually bought some proper tracks this time, I very much doubt the "kick it" song was made in-house. (lol) So my complaint is who on earth chose that god awful, musically inept track for a marketing promo, as I say, they have no idea how to market the game in Europe.

I'd also like to add, that the feedback so far has been about 70% negative, it's a landslide - that leads me to believe my judgement of what we have seen to be accurate.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

honestly, the only bit that was impressive was the first scene with ronaldo in slo mo. felt like a real person for a moment there. The rest after that could of been a trailer for last yrs 360 version.

Also it sounds like the stadium sounds have been beefed up this year. hopefully in 5.1

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

animations look bad. They should use motion captures

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

The Masterleague will always be boring after 2-3 seasons if you cannot move from one club to another.
It is too easy to win everything after 2 seasons and then theres no reason to keep playing it.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Im not trying to defend because you make valid points but judging stuff from 15 second trailer you can honestly say you know enough to warrant it to be crap. ?

(not having a go at you personally , Bingham)

The irony is that many of the people vainly trying to defend this game are the first to pillory FIFA on the basis of a handful of screenshots and a trailer.

The argument used in defence of this instant derision is that FIFA was crap last year so it will be crap this year.

As such, it is surely perfectly acceptable for people to be scornful of PES, based on a poor feature list, some tardy screenshots and now a video clip which does little offer encouragement. But perhaps most pertitent, PES was crap last year and so far, there's little to suggest it's any better this year.

But maybe in October, when we finally have the DVD in our PS3s and are witnessing a load of dross that cost us £50, we'll still have the fall-back of knowing that Konami have released for sale the pre-beta version. The good version is being kept back for some undefined time in the future.

Dude why do you always have to complain? i was checking your profile and i only saw two positive comments about the game.
The rest was just pure negativity. Lets try to dig up positive things also, shall we? Which in my opinion isn't hard to do.
less:( and a more:)

I think he's perfectly right.
This is not only about music, it's about negativty and a distinct lack of respect for other's people's opinion...his nick alone is provocative...virtually all his postings are provocative.
This has nothing to do with the fact that you like or dislike the next version of PES. This about trying to provoke people.
For people like me who simply want to have more news about the next installment, this thread is pure hell. People like me don't claim to have a Phd in footballgamology...we simply want to enjoy ourselves with a harmless game that despite the obvious flaws distracts us a lot for one or two hours a day.
It's not fun having to read all these stupid and pointless discussions based on a couple of screenshots and a 15 second movie.

I must be getting old but once again i'm sick and tired of it and judging by the reactions on my previous posts, i'm far from alone.

Rant over (for now).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I think i must be the only Winning Eleven player who doesnt care about national teams you know. I cannot remember one time where I have played using national teams. I think the world cup mode in WE9 where you could only be Japan is the only time I have played as a national side.

when playing multi-player it is always using club teams with my friends.

its great they all licensed though. :)

Can you see the irony in the fact that you chose to quote in your post a comment made by the most personally offensive, intolerant and belligerent member of this board? I chose to put him on ignore, although it is unfortunate that the fact you have quoted him has caused his words to blight my screen once again.

But you should also have the ignore option available to you.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Leipzig will now separate myth from reality, we will see.

I seriously hope the video is from a pre-build. (however unrealistic this may sound)
I hope this crowd isn't the final crowd.
I hope the animations are not choppy.

But you know what I really think? I think this video was some sort of sneak-peak at Leipzig.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

i just watched the trailer again using quicktime this time, first time I watched it using VLC player. Didnt realise with quicktime you can do slow mo and frame scrubbing. The Ronaldo intro animation is superb

I think it looks pretty good and promising for the next reveal of a full movie. I can't quite understand why people are slagging the animation and gfx off to such a degree. Yes it is not photo realistic with full physics cloth movement etc, but no game (that has 22 players, huge stadium, large pitch etc, so NBA doesnt really compare) has this. If we are all expecting graphics to the level of a DX10 game like Crysis then we need to get a grip. This is a FPS on a game engine that is not even out for beta yet and by all accounts needs a monster PC to run at full detail with specs that would put ps3 and 360 both to shame combined!

Agreed. The max number of seasons i have played was 4. Whats the point in going further if i'm winning every trophy out there.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

That's what the news only thread is for. This thread is a discussion thread.

I do not agree completely with you, you should know as well as i do that to have "the scoops" you have to follow this thread.

About CSanders (gomito): i've had a few personal discussions with him in the past too...but basically he's a nice guy with outspoken opinions. He tends to discuss with fervour but IMHO opinion he's not disrespectfull...

As for the ignore option: that's one that should not be needed in a world where there is respect for other's opinion.

Something that also infuriates me (well, to be honest that's relative) is the fact that it does not seem to be possible to escape the either PES or FIFA discussion.
I do not particularly like FIFA, but the next installment sounds promising and i will buy it. I think i have an open minds.
IMHO discussion are all about open minds.

And if i read the arguments in this thread i must say 90% is speculation based on a few screenshots and 15 seconds of moving pictures (are they in game????). I was not really impressed with the bit showing Ronaldo, but although he's a fantastic player...i don't like watching him...so i'm not sure what to make of it.

I know some people perhaps will say in a couple of months: "i told you so" but that's cheap because honestly giving a positive or a negative opinion based on what we know now is gambling, not reasoning.

I'm far from a hardcore gamer but i must say that through the years i've always enjoyed the PES-series...and i basically only play ML and yes never more than 3 or 4 seasons...

If i read the complaints about the ML i am kind of sceptical concerning those people. First of all i agree that there quite a few infuriating thins about the ML (well the fact that you can qualify for the "CL" ending sixth for example...). But if those people mention their ML campaigns, it turns out they play with the biggest teams: Man Utd, Chelsea, Real Madrid,...
In their third season they have an all star world team...
When i play ML i tend to play with lesser known teams...i buy quite often players that i don't know at all...this way ML is more of a challenge.
But like i said, i'm far from a hardcore gamer...and perhaps a pretty lousy player. Maybe that's why i still like it: because there is much room for improvement.

I, on the othe hand, never play ML. Everytime I try to get into it, it seems too repelling. Are you familiar with FIFA's "Career mode"? It was first introduced in Fifa05, I guess.

I used to play it all the time, it was great. You started off playing a small team and based on your results, you're either fired, renewed, or recieve a better coaching offer. It was very endulging, as you read newspaper headlines tracking your performance.

However, like any FIFA feature, it was plagued with the repetitive gameplay and ugly goals. It was then that I switched to PES4 and discovered how football could be real on a computer game.

I hope Konami remaps the ML. It would do them a lot of good. But Seab-ass said they were "pretty proud with how ML looks so far", so that's not gonna happen soon enough.

In the video, again:

At 9 seconds, you can see the new "Reverse Direction" move that's done a lot by Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos....etc. In reality, it looks great and is very useful esp while running.

However in PES2008, they managed to screw it up the same way they did with Ronaldinho's elastico.

The move is so subtle, the change in direction is ineffective, and the "flick" doesn't look as slick as it should. Just like the elastico which in reality is performed much faster and the ball travels much further.

While running, the player is supposed to advance "past the ball" for a moment, then flick it with his heel at least at a 45 degree direction. Being performed while running, the ball has to be chased with the player.

In the movie, a walking player is doing it. Great motion capture, Konami. They screwed the entire purpose of the play, just like they did with the elastico. WOuldn't it be lovely if this move could only be performed while running, and with a skillfull player....

Exactly and the same thing can be said about the Zidane roulette. In reality the move is slower and well you don't turn around with both feet on the ball like in PES.It's a shame because those are some nice moves and could do with some better animations (Direction change flick,Elastico and Roulette)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I always buy reletivley unknown players and start off with ML players on a decent difficulty. It means you don't always get promoted season one but you are able to make signings and wheel and deal which for me is the true side of managment. Making things work in the face of adversety.

I understand there are some very opinionated people here but there is opinionated and then just plain crazy... poeple STILL mentioning untucked shirts despite the fact they have been confirmed along with a mamoth edit mode. No one has the right to critisise gameplay without playing the game, thats just obsurd. People need to take a more balanced view on things. The master league features Thomas mentions seem to fit in with a much larger plan, if that is info which is just now being released i am sure seabass has more for us. After all we have yet to even see an official interview or press conference. All we have is speculation from sources playing outdated Beta versions and a random splatter of incosistant images.

I have not seen a feature which leads me to believe the series is heading backwards, on the contrary licencing appears very positive so far. As do the animations and yes i will say it the graphics. The edit mode improvements are here and why? because people used to moan about licencing, indeed alot of the suggestions at pesfan addressed editing balls, stadiums etc. well now it seems thats now a non-issue and the konami team will start to concentrate on other areas(if they havent already).

So lets chill with the trolling and bashing other members, and respect a difference in opinion.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

What's very funny here, is that all people complaining gonna buy this game ;)
If you want 100% realism, move your ass and go on a field. Stop crying on this game. I'm sure you're playing again and again PES6.
Complaining on a 24s video? what may it be when watching your favourite team during 90 minutes in real life?
Do you know what marketing means? Do you think Seabass is gonna bring you the perfect game this year and next year no evolution?
C'mon, this is the first Next-Gen version so don't be harsh like this.

Personnaly, I think that the animations are way better than FIFA. and you know why, because I can recognize lot of player styles.
If Konami add new animation on top of the existing ones, I'll be happy.
This scenes are done with a Computer mates, don't be blinds. I'm sure you'll see the improvments at Leipzig ;)
