Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Im not impressed but I am happy, this video shows that with the new licences the are emerging and the possibility of both an awesome edit mode and masterleague (changes as small as they may be) i will enjoy this game come october.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I think Edit stadium are in the game because in the Master League you start with a little stadium and with your money you can add more seats, biggest stadium, differents bench etc...

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

My contact mate ;)
i know that from long time ago but i can't speak, now i can because one guy from Wearepes have a contact too (not the same) and says that on the forum so now it's a public information.

if that true it would be great , bit like let's make a soccer team which is a shit game but had some good options for creating a team which coud be implemented in master league like stadium capacity and ticket price and extension to stadium and adverstising and sponsors etc.

hope so.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

All national teams under licence from PES6 are in PES2008 too (+ Turkey, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Scotland, Brazil, Portugal, Croatia), and few others soon believe me ;)

Just admit it Thomas you know EVERY national team is licenced...

just like ISS Pro, ISS Pro 98 and ISS Pro Evo!

IT'S THE SURPRISE!!!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Thomas, as stadium editor is now public knowlege can you confirm anything with adboard creation?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

Some parts look great but the facial expressions... I was looking forward to that the most, graphics-wise, and they look utterly stupid.

Sorry but you can't tell me those faces look realistic. They look like utter mongs with broken jaws.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I don't think the faces are THAT bad, certainly decent enough for a first attempt at facial expressions. At least you can't see teeth clipping through the skin or something.

What I don't like is the colour palette and lighting. It still looks so injection moulded and cartoony - also still quite similar to the 360 version which is worrying. I also noticed what looked like a player doing the "auto sidestep", if that is back in the game like people are saying with the JL version there is going to be people tearing their hair out.

The player textures are shit, simple as that - it's not an argument it's a fact. No-one in their right mind would declare those next-gen, Suff and Adam even said that in the pod cast. They look like 30 stone women with humongous asses and the shorts are bordering on FIFA length and some of them look like cut out tents.

Personally this has done nothing to ease my worries. For a long time now we've been told to be patient because "it's still in beta guys" and "wait until you see it in motion", well I don't think there are going to be any major changes between now and the release and it still seems there are the old flaws in the game like bad collision detection. We've seen the game "in motion" now and I'm still not impressed. The goalkeeper animation didn't look overly impressive either, the way he moved across the goal in an instant leads me to believe the "super dive" will still be prominent in the game.

Agreed.

Skin textures: CURRENT-GEN (and bad too)
Grass textures: CURRENT-GEN
Lightning: CURRENT-GEN

And you don't need to see a game in motion for it to be next-gen. Some people are acting as if they've never seen a screenshot of a next-gen sports game.

That's the first interesting (possible) feature I've heard so far for the ML.

PES has always lacked small stadiums of lower division proportions (eg under 10,000 capacity) - although there are plenty of small stadia in WEJL.

All we need now is the lower league structures and lots of lower division teams and suddenly the ML could be interesting.

btw, why is anyone concerned about which national teams are licensed? I thought we could now edit licensed kits and the editor tools now covered everything to make the accurate kits, etc. I think the community has excellent editors that will make a better job than Konami.

And I looked really closely and finally saw the jersey creases changing as Ronaldo ran, and I must say: It was totally NOT worth the underwhelming overall graphics.

Next-gen is something you notice immediately, not just a change you "feel" by time.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

The way ronaldos shirt wrinkels and moves when he's running is veeeeery cool the thing that was missing is that the shirt wasn't untucked. In overall like someone else said it's not impressing but it's sattisfying. After all it's pess and the new moves, animations, and facial expressions look good to me. The thing i fear the most is that it's going to be too slow because of the animations.

what if you start with man utd or barcelona etc. you must start in the official grounds.

The video is nice but it does look a lot like PES6 360 visually.

I agree the graphical changes are very subtle but very nice. Maybe too subtle :( . I think from now on we can't really say anymore: this is a pre built. I think the graphical standards for the game or set from now on. The demo at leipzig will come and from then on they will probably fix some bugs and gameplay features.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

I reckon it's the art direction that Konami have taken that's ruined the next-gen feel. The cartoony textures and almost flourescent colours are clearly something they feel is good, but I'd honestly say the PS2/PC graphics of PES6 are better than these, purely because they look more realistic.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

i see there is also a new step over animation that looks nice i dont mind the graphics and i doubt any of us will when your scoring greatly animated realistic goals.

I think whoever created the term "next gen" needs a kicking personally. Now we have to listen to everyone harping on about games not looking "next gen" every 5 seconds! I wonder if they had that problem back when Pong was created!

oh and, the opening bit with Ronaldo running in slow-mo looked bloody awful

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/06/07)

How appallingly bad is that music by the way. "All I want to do is kick it". Typical European music picked out by Asian's who think it will appeal to said market. It's cheesy, it's crap - get some decent music for crying out loud. I know people who would do the music for £50 and it would be a hundred times better.

Having just watched Edward Norton's rant from 25th hour on youtube I will say this: F**K Next-Gen Gfx, give me Next-Gen Gameplay!

Haha quality, that film is in my top 3 of all time. I might take that little monologue and edit it with relevant PES problems.

I'm happy with the video.

What's the point? The manager does none of those things in real life and it's a football game - I don't want to be managing sponsorships and ticket prices.

No doubt Konami will implement this though and omit a proper 20-team structure.

That video was appalling Seabass must be smoking something this year.

Hmm, not so sure about this statement mate. Does Current-gen allow HD output? Nope. And about the grass, I've been looking at the new trailer video for some while and at the end with the goal celebration I saw grass sprites sticking out. So it's not flat like in the previous versions.
