Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Just been talking to a few guys playing the beta,

Apparently the game loses its graphical charm when being played in SD. Im not sure how many of the nextgen games look on SD, how did Fifa look?

Apparently the pace is slower than PES6 on PS2, and the graphics still look incredible when playing on the wide view - Obviously in HD.

Lucas Neill the Face of Pro Evo '08

JB, the opinions you've given are perfectly valid, there's nothing wrong with sharing your personal views. I know you don't need me to tell you that, but I had to pass comment after reading through the recent posts in this thread.

Keep it up fella. ;)
Does this count for me also? or am I still universally hated and despised?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Am I the only one here who couldn't give a toss about Master League?

For me multiplayer is the way. Playing a tounament of PES with the lads.

Nothing beats playing a German online playing as Germany and giving him a thrashing with the three lions!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Oh for God's sake, does it really matter what you like?! You should be given a good game whether you play against mates or against the CPU, or Konami should erase the single-player stuff from the game and knock a few quid off the price.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

We are all different. I personally like to play ML myself. Online play is full of cheating tossers who do cutbacks or just lag. Sometimes I play with mates but I hardly ever see them since I moved away.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Does nobody understand what I'm saying? For as long as something is included, you have every right to expect it to be improved and bug-fixed, because there will be a group of people who will buy the game purely for that game-mode (and I'm not saying one person, I'm saying hundreds of thousands of people). Whether you like this or that is irrelevant, if you think a game-mode is bug-ridden and it remains bug-ridden then you have valid grounds for complaint.

So if you buy the game for multiplayer then you don't have anything to worry about, but if you buy the game for something else and that something else is crap (I'M TALKING ABOUT PES6 HERE, NOT PES2008), then it's not right. Nobody's forcing me to buy the game, Konami owe me nothing, blah blah blah. But I just want to see the game improved, I'm not moaning for the sake of moaning, hence why I back everything up and try to explain myself rather than just saying "PES IS SHIT" (and agonisingly I don't think it matters, people read it as that either way).

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

Definately the 360 version. Something everyone I speak to has. I think the PS3 version is rare because you need a debug unit to play it, and only the huge sites and established mags have those.
This means that the PS 3 version is behind in developement, compared with the Xbox360?
That is odd...
Didn't they say the PS3 is the version from which the 360 and PC will be ported??

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

I understand Mr Bauer
Thank you. I apologise for littering the thread but I'm only responding to people (aka "discussing"). Despite the fact that only one or two seem to be listening.

Let's hope there's some more news soon. I've sent a little text to my contact this morning, I doubt I'll get anything back but here's hoping.

I don't think that the fact you need a debug PS3 to play the game means it's any further behind or ahead than other versions. A debug PS3 just means that you can put the game onto a normal disc (using a Bluray writer), play unsigned code, that the unit won't crash under certain conditions and will give a debug error message instead, etc... Whereas with the 360 it's a lot easier to "sign" the disc, you have the power to do that straight away, it doesn't need to be sent off to manufacturing plants etc... At least, that's the impression I was given from my contact (a year ago, talking about the consoles in general).

And if the PS3 version is the main version, they will be playing with that solidly and converting it quickly to the 360, leaving the optimisation until the end. If any of what I've just said makes sense.

People like IGN, Gamespot and Eurogamer have debug units, it doesn't mean that the PS3 is behind.

Perhaps because they are making the PS3 version much better than the other versions :D.

Oh no, what have I said ? Cue the console war again \\:o/.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

it's true people do flame jack, but he does like to discuss the good/bad points of pro evo, most people on here just slag each other off....it gets boring!

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

@ Jack, the people that actually read your post and have an IQ above 70 understand. Shame there seem to be quite a few on here that dont read, have a poor IQ or even worse both :D

So is there any other news/rumours besides "filthy lucre neill" being on the aussi/kiwi cover?

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

im sick of regional "stars" being on covers. its too much of a fifa thing to do. why cant we just have one badass cover like the good old days.

OFF TOPIC :
"Lucas Neill has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world. Marking some of the most powerful strikers in world football " ,that's gotta be a joke.Lucas Neil is good but that's all ,nothing special about his defending .:lmao::lmao::lmao:

hahah talk about offtopic.. where did u get that quote from?? He's an ok defender.. great for australia.. played well in the worldcup, but apart from that hast done too much.. played poorly in the asian cup (.. which i believe was contributed by the coach and preparation including some good defenders stepping down and retiring. A bit overrated in our country (australia) i reckon... mind u.. ive heard he's played quite well for west ham at the end of last season.. sorry for the addition to the off-topic-ness.. :)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/30/07)

just a quick message to post my support for jack and dj doc to an extent.
I've no problem with people posting rational complaints about a game.

I agree with jack over pretty much everyone of his complaints. i've broken probably in excess of 5 playstation controllers over the entire series due to the computer "cheating" . this isn't as much of a problem anymore as i seem to only play multiplayer.

Everyone knows that pes isn't a perfect game although i do believe it's the best out there in the genre.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

LOL @ gomito.........i am afraid i can not do that, for i am an excellent pes player, both in single player and in multiplayer :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Look at the first page whenever you see that, it means ThomasGOAL has updated it. I'm presuming it's the following two things:

- Latvia is replaced by Israeli national team
- Lucas Neill on Australia cover

- Latvia is replaced by Israeli national team is old news.

And if Lucas Neill is worth of that, than this is LoL, wouldnt you agree? :lmao:

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Most people discussing it so far seem to think so! But it is news, I suppose.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

I just wanted to add that I don't always agree with Jack but he always writes intelligent comments about what he feels is lacking in PES. What's wrong with that? He wants the game to be better as I'm sure everyone does. I play ML almost exclusively and I would like to see a Manager Mode added to it but I definitely don't see the COM Cheats that Jack talks about, but that is his gaming experience and I respect that. I don't want to come onto this forum and see everyone just "blowing" PES. We need discussion here.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

Shucks you guys! (Although I would bet there's a few people slamming the desk in anger and thinking of the various ways to kill me after reading the last few posts :mryellow:)

In all seriousness, thank you. Being met with hostility when you're giving constructive criticism is incredibly annoying (and I did actually play the game for a few days solid last week, purely to try and explain my position to the guys who hate my guts and think I'm just posting to piss them off). But you can't please everybody, and I'm learning fast that a lot of people think their opinion is right and everybody else's is wrong, and in those instances you just have to shut up and move on. I don't mind a discussion, in-fact it's what I come on here for. But when it resorts to flaming and insulting, it makes you wonder why you bother. But thank you to all the guys who have posted in my defence, you're great. Buy yourself a cookie on me.

Back on-topic, there's a magazine that said PES2008 had no licensed English teams in the beta they played, and the J-League game that's just been released on PS2 has no licensed English teams either. Yet both have licensed teams from other countries. What's going on? Konami cost-cutting exercise? Man United and Arsenal/Chelsea raised their price? Change in the FA licensing laws?

Ok so one game doesn't make me an expert on the matter, but I played Motorstorm, a game renowned for it's awesome graphics, on a 28" SD TV, and it looked awful. Seriously, it looked like a PS2 game.

I think you need an HDTV to appreciate next gen graphics, I think that's the reason the Wii is doing so great, you don't have to buy a new TV to enjoy it properly.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

I read the thread's title and thought "wow new update", i come in and its "Lucas Neil on PES 2008 cover". No comment.

That's from Konami as a comment when they sign Neil as their cover for the game http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/809/809758p1.html

I do play my next gen console on my SDTV and it looks way better than my old PS2.IMHO it's crazy to feel the need to buy an HDTV just for the sake of enjoying terrific images.HDTV are really expensive and not everyone who has a next gen console can afford both games and HDTV.I'm saying that because some of friends think that I'm a fool not to buy an HDTV.
NBA 2K7 looks terrific on my SDTV

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/01/07)

If they put half as much effort into improving the Master League and scripted gameplay as they did signing up overpaid twats to appear on the front cover of 28 different regions we'd probably have the best game ever created.
