Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 07/27/07)
Haha. Cool, I can finally argue with someone who is not an idiotic, narrow-minded fanboy.
OK, I avoided being too negative in my posting by suggesting that super-cancel might be a thing of the past (ignore the fanciful bit about the possibility that scripting might be a thing of the past...there is 0% chance of Konami doing this).
Of course, I do not think for one second that scripting will be gone. PES is built on scripting. Without it, it is nothing but 26-0 every game.
But coming back to the main subject of this "argument" :8)
.the possibility of super-cancel being eliminated from the game. I actually think that this is a possibilty. It is surely possible that, once the cursor switch gives you control of any given player, your input, and only your input, decides in which direction he moves. To my mind, it is not inconceivable that Konami have finally made the "massive" step of giving you control of 1 out of the 11 players on your team (albeit in a crude 8-direction-only fashion) as soon as the cursor switches to him. That still gives Konami 10 players on your team to deliberately run in completely the wrong direction and basically act like muppets, thus scripting the gameplay in the way that they like to do, whilst giving you a new experience of actually having nearly full control of one guy in your team
.
Wow!! Just think how amazing it would be to aim left and you r player goes left every time. It would be almost like having some actual gameplay. Surely even Konami's programmers can manage to achieve this most fundamental principle of gameplay?
I'm not too sure about that. As long as there is any sort of computer-aided running (the player automatically running after the ball if he is chasing a pass that strayed a bit) SUper-cancel will be there. And obviously, as long as they don't have 360 movement, there needs to be computer-aided runs, which means SUperCancel will be there, definitely. Besides, it does more than just give you freedom of running (in 8 directions) but it also cancels shots, and allows for some shot-feints that give unique movements.![]()
