The TV Show Thread

just watched Dexter , what a situation before the finale !

the promo of the finale is breathtaking !

Dexter turned into a bad soap opera. There is no overall plot or story anymore, just some weekly bs to keep the show alive. He has no code nor any coherence at all kills at will, same goes for every character whose mood change by the sec. It is just a non sense situation after the other.

by now there are tons of people who know he is a serial killer but nobody actually talks. It took the coop 5 seasons to ask themselves if the bay harbour butcher had a boat...

And yes, his sister falling in love or the koska gay relationship come directly from some cheap latin america soap opera.

The show has long jumped the shark, it tries to stay alve after some bad seasons by putting together a lof of stuff that make no sense at all or give little appearance to characters that disappeared (old trick to gain some extra audience).

first 3 seasons were good, than the show became pure bullshit.

Homeland season 2 it's not bad and has its turns here and there. But after watching Boardwalk Empire, Homeland is a very simple product and someone needs to tell Claire Danes to refrain of putting that face all the time.

Plus, it's the kind of TV Show that needs to dumb down everybody to show that the main character is smart. A bit lame when Claire Danes needs to be smarter than experienced SWAT teams finding pathetically obvious clues. Come on, don't treat the audience like idiots...

This makes me value a lot more some of the dialogues of Deadwood, where you where literally scratching your head trying to not what they said, but what they where implying. The intellectual enjoyment I had in those moments is still unsurpassed, c*cks*ck*rs!

Hi Alex,

I'm currently at home because i'm immobile (pulled a muscle) and i'm rewatching Deadwood. Great show.

Hope your better soon mate. And what a great way to rehabilitate, simply awesome show. Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) is quite simply the best TV character of all time for me.

Haha Dags I was just about to quote you asking if you were being serious .

Just watched the last series and a half of Doctor Who up until the latest episode, it's not bad but it's become a lot more "American" since Matt Smith took over, and not in a good way.
It just gives you no idea what's going on, then towards the end of the episode, makes up some twist that vaguely makes sense.

The Christmas Specials are always good family entertainment though, looking forward to this year's one.

Started watching Sons of Anarchy a few weeks ago while on vacay. Very good show with some interesting characters. On season 5 now. So far I give it a 8.5/10.

:P

I love his clip with Woo, comedy gold.

Sons of Anarchy - Think I'll give this a look after I've got up to date with Homeland. Believe Lem from The Shield is in it, so a face I can recognise in it.

FD

Ya, Lem is in there. The casting is great. There are some really good actors and actresses that I have never seen before. The only other faces I recognized were the Irish mob boss and the black mob boss.

Discovered a hidden gem today for anyone that likes sci-fi, Continuum a Canadian produced sci-fi show that had a 10 episodes first season that's already aired and it has been renewed for a 13 episode second season:

When a group of rebels convicted as terrorists escape execution by fleeing from the year 2077 to 2012, Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), a future Vancouver law enforcement officer (called Protector), is involuntarily transported with them. In order to track the terrorists down and keep them from changing the past (and presumably future), Kiera joins the 2012 Vancouver Police Department and uses the skills of a young tech expert, Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen), to both track the Liber8 agents' pasts and provide her with the necessary information and contacts to operate in the present despite her lack of official credentials.

So little sci-fi on tv these days it's good to find another one that's actually really good IMO :)

I'll share one of my fav series of all time.

it's a '90 adult comedy called "Dream On". The protagonist is divorced book editor who keep having images about old black and white movie.

Just watched the pilot of Banshee, absolutely superb, one of the best pilots for a TV Show I've watched, all I can say is everyone should check it out ASAP but don't read up on it to avoid spoilers, all you need to know is it's a cable show so sex, violence and swearing, watch and enjoy! :)

Got it added to my Sick Beard along with The Americans and The Following.
