The TV Show Thread

Nothing beats the Wire

Just finished watching Season 4 and it was the best i have seen on TV

The Wire is awesome. What was S4 about - was it the school-centric series?

I really liked S2 which tends to divide fans as to how good it is.

I've tried so many times to get into The Wire S2 but I just get bored after 3-4 episodes. Which is odd as I loved the first season.

I loved it as it was something almost completely different to series 1, with the docks and the Poles etc.

Did you carry on with S3, or give up on the Wire completely? If you gave up, you really should push on - even skip S2 as it pretty much stands alone in the grand story line.

Such a great show and I'll get the box set one day and watch it all through again!

Just stopped dead and moved onto the next show. Like I say though, I loved S1 and thought it was superb, I just found it hard to get into S2.

Will definately not give up totally on it tho and will get around to carrying on.

Yeah that's the one

That series just made everything so clear with the mayor and the which side everyone is on

I liked series 2 as well but its pretty slow going that one until the last few episodes

It does take a bit of a dip but it certainly picks up again after, get back on it you will enjoy 3 and 4

Really? I'm halfway into episode 2 and it feels like the writers want it to be more and more like Twilight. Becoming a bit too gay for my liking.

Tru Blood - 302

Episode 1 was meh but the second was intriguing. They better
kill Tara right now IMO and focus on Nazi Werewolves !!!
:D

You find that almost in every movie or show about vampires nowadays. But with Tru Blood, it's more coarse (a new word I learned today).

PS. Team Jacob FTW !

30 Rock Season four has been awful, I hope they haven't peaked early.

Halfway through The Wire S2 ...

D'Angelo!!!!

D'Angelo!!!!

Its what makes the Wire so special - its never afraid to shock. Plenty more of that in other seasons!

Stick with S2, its such a good series, it almost stands alone in the hierachy of the show, but does weave in some nice connections.

Finished The Wire S2 today. Gets better as it goes on and not a bad season but forgetable really. Nowhere near as good as S1 was.

S3 next then...

Usually I like downloading seasons of TV shows that have been highly rated and watching a few episodes at a time when I have time to waste, but The Wire and The Sopranos just completely bore me after half an hour of the first episode, although they are in practically every top 10 TV shows list :CONFUSE:.

I never watched Lost until a few seasons in, never watched Chuck, Fringe, 24 or House until the most recent seasons and yet I enjoyed almost every minute of them.

Yeah i've heard many people say that, I think i'll try watching it again when i'm in the mood over the next few weeks, i'm sure i'd like it if I could get into them.

Then again, it just might not be to my taste.

I couldn't get into Sopranos either, i watched about 10 episodes and it didn't grab me whereas Lost and the Wire got me after just watching the first

Finished Sky's adaption Chris Ryan's Strike Back (6 episodes) last night. Sky had opted to transfer 3 books into a miniseries, the other 2 being Martina Cole's The Take & Terry Pratchett's Hogfather.

I read the book a couple of years ago, so it could be my memory, but for some reason they kept the basics of the plot and added subplots to flesh it out.

They would have been better off (IMO) making it 3 episodes and adapted Blackout (a better story) for the other 3, or going with the Geordie Sharp books as there were 4 of them so could have joined them up.

It was good, though I'd only recommend it if you like any of his books.

Worth watching if you've never read any of his books?

If you like an action drama that you don't need to think about (ie Ultimate Force), then yep :)
It also has quite a bit of swearing, which is quite welcome when you're used to the US programs!

Is that the one that was on a few months back?

If so, I enjoyed it and I haven't read the books. Bit mindless but still perfectly watchable.
