The TV Show Thread

Thought maybe they'd be allowed to finish Heroes to a conclusion, but I now get the impression its cancelled as of now - i.e. no 5th season?

Bit of an odd way to go out, but it had barely any story left in it, so no that fussed really.

FlashForward is an odd one - mostly terrible, but I dont know if its because I'm numb to the bad acting and writing now, but I find it reasonably enjoyable.

Would probably be a stretch to do a 2nd series I guess.

Heroes is reportedly set to be cancelled after four seasons.

The network's presentation of its 2010-2011 schedule was leaked on Sunday morning after journalists from The Hollywood Reporter snuck into their upfront rehearsal at New York's Hilton hotel - and it seems the hit show, starring Hayden Panettiere, has been cancelled due to high costs and low ratings.

But the show will be replaced by a new superhero drama, The Cape, about a framed cop who goes into hiding and becomes a superhero.

While it was announced on Friday that New York-based series Law And Order was being cancelled, NBC will apparently launch the new Law And Order: Los Angeles.

New NBC shows include a 24-style thriller The Event, and Undercovers, from Lost co-creator JJ Abrams, about two of the CIA's best spies who retired to run a catering business when they got married and are then called back into action.

A new comedy, Outsourced, about a mid-American novelties company whose call centre has been outsourced to India, was also among the news shows revealed, along with Friends With Benefits, a comedy from Arrested Development creator Brian Grazer, about a group of single friends in their 20s navigating the dating world.

The Hollywood Reporter, which also revealed Alec Baldwin's comedic introduction as his 30 Rock character Jack Donaghy to the event, has been banned from covering NBC launches and from interviews with its talent.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed on Friday that ABC's Scrubs was among the many shows which had been officially cancelled along with sci-fi drama FlashForward starring British actors Joseph Fiennes, Jack Davenport and Dominic Monaghan.

Sounds like some good shows are coming on NBC though.

With all these cancellations and the lack of decent shows coming out, what's left?

It seems Dexter is the only US show that's worth watching now. That's 1 show that's survived out of the 7 shows I used to follow weekly.

p.s. Did anyone catch the finale of Supernatural? Great show and a great end to the whole mess of a situation. However, I hear they're doing another series. I fear that it won't be as good without the same writers and can't see where it can go from here. It's gone as far as it can go and they've answered all the questions.

OK, I'll try them out.

Sons of Anarchy any good? I hear someone from the Shield has something to do with it.

I started to watch Sons Of Anarchy, got about 5 episodes in and it seemed alright.

Yes, watch it! It's from Kurt Sutter - writer & producer of the Shield.
It might start off a little slow for the first few episodes, but that gives you a bit of back story. Both seasons are good, though the 2nd just edges it for me. Think the 3rd season is due to air soon...
The only downside is that you'll spend quite a bit of time recognising half of the cast from other things!

Does anyone watch The Mentalist? Started it a couple of weeks ago, and almost up to date with the US now. Once I've finished that I'm planning to start on Breaking Bad (spooky that PB mentioned it as I was typing this!), then Justified & Spartacus.

Agree. Fringe has been pretty good, although I thought the last episode was rushed a bit.

Breaking Bad season 3 has been absolutely amazing. One of the best shows this year I think. The acting and the writing is just very good. This is the same network that airs Mad Men.

Tim has mentioned it before I think.

I don't like it much to be honest.

I can't wait to start Braking Bad either, but I'm still catching up with Curb.
I'm between Breaking Bad and Mad Man though, but will probably be BB.
When is True Blood back? Should be soon I've seen loads of ads, miniepisodes etc.

Yes he does. Didn't realise till it was over. :D

A bit pissed off that FF has been cancelled as I was enjoying it. Admittedly it's fallen flat since the opening episode and....
...now the story is they have to stop the next blackout is poor for a potential 2nd season.

What really got me is that they have cancelled Mercy, Grey's Anatomy with nurses and bit more rougher as they are in Jersey. Was a really funny show.

A few of the new shows look good though so hopefully they can live up to the billing.

24 - 823-824 - Series Finale

I may have missed a few things, I was really tired but if I'm right... :D
that was very slow and most of the time you don't get to see Jack.
But the last 20 minutes were great (the countdown !).

Bring on the movie !

Satisfying.

6+/10

I really enjoyed 24, very good ending.

Just watched the first part of the Chuck double-bill as well, best episode yet? Certainly up there, brilliant.

Yep, the second show lived up to the billing as well :D Love Chuck, really a superb show.

Seems all of the shows I've followed have, or are going to finish now :(

Prison Break started it, then there's the likes of Lost, Heroes (despite it going downhill), Chuck for the season, FlashForward, 24.

The only show left on now is Ultimate Fighter, and that's only got a few weeks left.

What's next? I know Entourage is back in June but is anything else coming up in the next few weeks?
