The 'Things That Are Great' Thread

Selling 20p for 171 quid and then having a fiver on Fed to win the final in 5 sets winning 30 quid, yesterday was a good day

I went for a jog the first time in about 15 years the other day and lasted about 10 mins, my heart felt like it was gonna burst out of my chest and my legs are still sore.

Was that because I mentioned in Dags' sleeping thread that I'd started? :D

That's how I felt, I'm still not used to it after a month. Some days I can do it without stopping, other days I get half way around and I can't breathe, it's weird. Someone said it's because I keep going later on in the day when there's less oxygen but sounds a bit hippyish to me.

Its best to start slow then gradually getting into it. Jay you should start off by walking, then over time (as in the next time you go for a walk/jog) you speed up. Eventually we'll see you in the next olympics.

Check out the SmartCoach on the Runners World website. You give it a target of how much running you're aiming for and it gives you a plan to work to, starts you off slowly and you build up your distance and speed over time. Works well.

Basically I'm starting at running 2 miles at 12mins per mile pace, do that for a week or two then it asks you to run 3 miles but keeping to the same pace. You'll naturally be a bit fitter from doing the running earlier so rather than increase your speed, you increase your distance. Once your stamina is sorted, your speed builds up itself up to a point. But that's a long way off :)

I went walking once and went that far i got lost so i thought running was the best option. It's not that hard to find my way home from the end of the street.

If you didn't have a girls phone you could get apps that track your speed, distance, calories burnt ect

Just reminded me of the doctor as well

Phil: "Best Little Chapel. Do you know where that is?"
Doctor: "I do, it's at the corner of get a map and fuck off."

I must admit, I couldn't stop laughing when the guy twitched and twatted his wife in the face.

He was just like 'er...yeah...you'd better turn the camera off so I can she if she's already'

Oh and the bloke with his dog trying to cross the road, kept saying 'go on' and the dog wouldn't go until it believed he was telling the truth and it wasn't tourettes, that was actually pretty amazing to see.

Not to as bad a degree as these people though. If the program was "Tourettes - I swear I can't help it", then I've seen that too. Very good program, quite emotional and moving, feel sorry for them but it is funny at the same time. At least they can just get on with life and laugh at the funny ticks/shouts.

On a sidenote, why isn't tourettes in the safari dictionary!?
