The Retro-PES Corner

I'm having a blast in Winning Eleven 2002 (PS1) so far, but while it's easy to find patches for various different leagues and seasons, I'm struggling to find things mods that alter gameplay or that add QoL upgrades, like camera tools or being able to select the kits outside of exhibition, any idea if these even exist? I don't need them to make the experience good, it's already great, but a few QoL improvements would make this masterpiece even more current.

Weird thing happened when I experimented with Pes 6
I made all the players have all stats equal to 1, and made them 17y old. But the weird thing is that when I checked the players salaries, players like Henry and Lupoli had 5000 Pes points salary, while Gilberto Silva had only 7 Pes points salary (despite players having the same value for playing stats, and every special ability removed)
It's annoying a bit, because when I edit players, some players cost more and have a bigger salary than some players who are better by stats
Like I want to know how player market prices and salaries work in PES 6 master league?

Game on PES6 when Chelsea scored and then were really difficult to break down. How is it that games of almost 20 years ago have better AI than today? Perhaps money is indeed the root of all evil, especially in the video game industry

I get what you mean, been playing PES 3 and just admiring the fact the GK will charge the striker through on goal like a crazed rhino making me have to think quickly how to finish the chance. Modern game he stays glued on his line while you just tap shoot in the bottom corner with no effort

I always found PES 5 free kicks to be very successful but I seem to be absolutely terrible at them on any other versions of PES. Do you find the same?
Totally similar experience.
I would consistently score from free kick in PES 5 (to the extent that my mates would usually avoid fouling me near the box, they'd rather have me through and then rely on me missing the 1-on-1 with the keeper, a thing that I often did) but never managed to do anything good from there on (until like PES 2015, where I suddenly got the hang of it again, but they were actually too easy.

Do PS2 PES / WE games use the pressure sensitive buttons of the PS2 controllers?

I used to play PES5 with a ps1 non-DualShock controller and was fine but a few YouTube comments have made me wonder. 🤔

Still playing on original hardware, I have been thinking of using PS5 dualsense with 8bitdo receivers, but may look elsewhere if pressure sensitivity is really an issue.

I got a blast for the moment with 3 games i didn't played enough to remember.
PES 09, 11, 12 Ps3 (literally on a ps3)

The issue(s) is that for PES 2009 for example there's not a single good option file for ML or player's looking or patch.

But the South American PS3 patch are really active, there's a lot of patchs for the last version on that console (2018) but i managed to get a pretty good patdh with PES 2017 as a basis and actual rosters. Sometimes gameplay mods so PES 2018 which isn't really great at all may be corrected a bit. Also in the database they're tons of real preset they can't assign like for Bundesliga not apparent in NT or on a fake one, but their faces is on the files looking pretty good, especially on the 2008 and 2009 version / a LOT of it. Got some question regarding "how to" as you can't change presets like on PS2...

For the moment i'm searching myself a bit about .STR files, so text files, but i don't found them on any versio, and doing a ps3 patch or an option file mixed with a base patch (i mean only kits an teams name) could be very fast with a good base + the facescan option.

Even for Fifa they're is a lot of patches based on the last version out on PS3 (Fifa 19) but i managed to get a patch EA season 23-24 very impressive.
I wasn't a big fan of Fifa 16 but that + gameplay corrected version is pretty good in fact and i can tell you : it's rare when it's happens.
I tried all possible patches based ooooooooo

For some version you need to push a second time when your teammate pressing failed.

The 3DS version of WE2014 Aoki samurai got Summer transfers right, like DLC 2.0 for the PC/PS3.
It was my next project lol. You can check the missing players from the 3DS emulator called "Citra" + the game.

Edit: The PSP version of WE2014 Aoki got winter transfers, like the latest PES 2014 DLC but no J-League : National Teams instead of it. Depends what you really want to do. Personnally i prefers database with summer transfers, but with Summer Transfers it's not that bad : it's like you will start a season from July and transfers to do, change the history (except the year's is -1 and, but who cares, only not having promoted teams could be annoying, well i don't care neither as PES old school don't have D2 so you're stick with the 20 teams purposed ;) ).

Stats are the same as on the good old PES 4-6, with Attack/Defense/Accel/Agility/Shot Technique etc.
Probably some special skills in more (like on PES 2014, and i think since PES 2008 : they added new "skills stars")
You can took the players to add from that version and recopy them ;)
how do you find the 3DS versions of PES/WE 2011-2014 compared to the PSP versions of (2011-2014)? i think they are pretty much the same gameplay wise yearly but with slight content difference.

Hello guys, for who is interested I found a way to make this patch completely working:

PES 2013 PESJP Patch 2013 v3.09 Ultimate + Gameplay Tool 3.35 + Addons

PES 2013 PESJP Patch 2013 Ultimate + Update Gameplay Tool & Addons by Jenkey1002

PES 2013 PESJP Patch 2013 Ultimate + Update Gameplay Tool & Addons by Jenkey1002

It has a huge amount of contents and so many options to choose from into selector, but the previous issue was about gameplay tool, who didn't run at all.
I replaced it with another exe and got the trick.

If anyone is interested, I can share links.
I want the links please

After starting Master League on Superstar in J.League Winning Eleven 2008, after 18 fixtures im on the course to become the manager of the worst team in the Premier League history. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/worst-premier-league-teams-ever-points-total

I even set up ML difficulty to very hard, but i"m starting to think that it might be an overkill.

i have never ever struggled that much with the defaults in the Master League lol.

Waiting for FC26 ratings to come out to edit a PES game
If I choose to edit PES 2013, there are 7 "European" leagues, Top 5 + Ex-Yu League, but I don't know what to put for the 7th league? I want to be equal and fun like the Ex-Yu league made out of clubs from the former countries of Yugoslavia

Maybe the Eredivisie? Or the Portuguese league.

You have to, it's a real gem.

But I have to say that, in my opinion, playing with Japanese teams from the J.League is the most fun. The players have lower stats than players from European clubs, which makes the gameplay more realistic in terms of pace (but in a positive way, it's still fun to play). This makes the matches more physical and the matches itself flow more realistically.

In terms of mechanics, it seems to be the most polished version of PES on PS2, with lots of nice animations (especially for goalkeepers) and artificial intelligence that makes the game very replayable. i should record more goals that I or AI scores because the variety is massive.

The atmosphere is also really well done, the chants are awesome, the soundtrack fits (BUT, IF THERE IS A CHANCE @BillyKong the song in the main menu of ML could be changed to something more relaxing if it possible and wouldnt take your time lol, its horrible in my opinion lol) i have no knowledge of japanese domestic footbal, but im still enjoying my new ML campaign that started in J.LEAGUE 2.

And the amount of stadiums is impressive as well, there is something charming playing J.LEAGUE 2 match in a stadium that has the capacity of 5-10 thousands lol

My plan is to start with going through a full j league season 👍🏻

The fact that it has all the stadiums just makes it so much better

I went to the World Cup in 2002 so on previous j league winning elevens I always pick a team whose home ground I’ve been to. I’m currently playing j league winning eleven 9 and using Kashima Antlers, I loved that stadium, the stands were so steep and close to the pitch, it created a really special atmosphere

I love that stadium too! i even set that stadium to be the home ground of some Premier League stadiums.

Im currently playing in J.LEAGUE 2 so i had to edit a few of home grounds, because it wasnt realistic to be playing in Kashima stadium lol

😂

The Kashima stadium reminds me a little bit of Everton’s new stadium especially regarding how steep the stands are

I was at a match in Yokohama stadium (not the final) but that stadium is soulless compared to Kashima’s

Now that you mentioned the soundtrack, here's some of my opinions.

I prefer not having the Champions League intro soundtrack whenever the match starts, It should be either the default soundtrack or something generic for every football occassion fitting the Japanese vibe.
Champions league soundtrack should be only when Champions league is played imo, but there is no mod like that, which exists for PES 6, so I wouldn't include it at all.
I know that BillyKong also likes to change the soundtrack on formation screen to the Champions League one, which I also don't like, but I'm glad he didn't change it in this version.
I like the PES 3 highlights song & it sounds nice, but I would also prefer some version which fits the Japanese vibe better.

For the ML soundtrack, I think that it sounds good, but maybe something similar to the Winning Eleven 6 - Final Evolution Main Menu soundtrack fits it better.

I totally agree ,especially with the CL theme :)
PES3 highlight song doesnt fit that well, but its bearable, but i'm also agreeing that it could be changed.

The ML menu song isn't bad, it is a little out of place in comparison to songs used during the highlights (which i totally love) but i feel like its too "energetic" and gets tired fast, but that might just be me, i just mute the emulator during the main menu in ML and turn on some 80's jazz on Spotify lol

I will be changing both the formation screen music and the entrance music to two official J.League championship anthems. So that will be fixed in the next version in the near future. The Champions League replay song is there as this is a club based title including European clubs and the PES 3 highlight song is always included as its a personal nostalgic favourite of mine. :TU:
