The Retro-PES Corner

Thanks a lot @H_G for sharing.
If there's a tactic book, there's should be some others guide (for players , edit, i don't know etc.)

To be honest i'm a bit disappointed about the lack of stats, and it doesn't seems it cames from Konami directly but it's guys testing the strategy or Body Balance as an example. If it was a real Konami guide made with devs help they should made test with 70 everywhere and 99 in Balance to check how that big that stats got an influence (then i already knowed it since PES 2)

But i will probably read their tactical stuffs to perhaps trying to improve some CPU teams opponents with tactics.

Does anyone know how I can change the value of wen points to the maximum in the Japanese version of winning eleven 9 since this game doesn't have an option file editor like others?

try using cheat engine or the debugger from the emulator, win 2 matches and search for the value 100, then win another one and search for 150, and so on, you'll finally get two address with the value of the wen points, just change those two and you'll be able to set it in any value you want

I tried several times using the cheat engine but there comes a time when it doesn't find any value even though I do the correct process, for example I had 450 points and I searched, it found several results so I bought a player from the pes shop and got 300 points but when I search for 300 and press next scan it doesn't find anything else

try using the ps2 debugger then, i did it back then and it worked

Lads help, can you change club emblems via Pes 2013 UDE, but without Pesedit. I change it in program, but in game it retains the old badge

Finally got to see England win Euro 96 after all these years. Turkey gave us hell in the semi finals and down to 10 men in the final with the silver goal rule made ET vs Spain tense. But we nicked it on penalties (southgate scored his) great mod and PES 3 is still such a playable game after 20 years

results

England 1 Switzerland 0
England 2 Scotland 1
England 3 Holland 3

England 2 France 1
England 3 Turkey 2 ET
England 0 Spain 0 ET PK

Hey, can you help me with something? I was thinking of a Master League idea for PES 6 Original Season, making use of the original ML players that have faces.

Copy them at created slots:
- Sort the boot/face/hair ID's;
- Age them younger;
- Give special abilities (like some finishing for Castolo, since he's a loose cannon);
- Scatter them around 11 clubs;

After that, I chose to engage in La Coruña with Ordaz being my star prospect, BUT, for my demise, something might be off with the ID's because some of them seems to keep their elements (as was observed of Jaric, Castolo and Ivarov in the ML player search)(Out of ML is all good as well) and others just lose it all (like Ordaz for example, no navy puma or hair gel).

So, is there something that can be done? I'd like to be able to make it work in PES 6 OG Season Patch, since it's very immersive and very fun paired with your OF and adding my own personal spin on it. Hope it can be solved, thanks for good work as well.

You'd be better of asking Fabri about it in the OG season thread, although I've not seen him in there for a while.

Here's a video that a friend of mine posted of the GameBoy Advance version of Winning Eleven! Looks surprisingly fluid and fun, and a cool surprise. I wasn't aware that GBA had a Winning Eleven game in its catalog! :TU:

I consider this game a small miracle. It's just unbelievable how much of the psx feel they were able to transpose in a 2d environment.

I am using Pes 2013, with datapack 4.00 and OF 1.06, and I have Pes Ultimate Data Explorer 2.9.7
When I went to change club badges in PES UDE, it changed successfully, but when I opened Pes 2013, ingame it didn't change, it stayed the same default badge.
I don't know why honestly, I remember it worked before

Hey everyone! I just bought a used PS2 again along with everything I need to play (freecmbot and Mx4iso) after some time away from PES. Do you know where I can find option files for PES 5/PES 6/WE9/10 with original seasons, or if there’s anything updated to the current season? I’m not a fan of overly "modern" patches with unrealistic fields or similar things like the many Brazilian patches, but I’m looking for something nice for a fun Master League experience

Sorry for being totally off topic but I thought I would ask in here especially as I believe that @Flipper the Priest may know the answer :D

I was away for a bit and decided to boot up my Xbox Series 'S' to play some PS2 PES via the emulator. As soon as I turned it on it was asking me if I want to continue using my USB storage device for Media or Games. It said if I choose Games then it would format it and I will lose everything on it. It's strange because I have been using it a lot before that.

I put the SD in my PC and copied everything that was on it to my PC and formatted it to NTFS which is what I had done before. I then copied everything back on it (all this took about 3 hours because I was doing other stuff on my computer and it was slowing down a bit) and plugged it back into the Xbox. It came up with the same message. So I have formatted it using the Xbox so it deleted everything on there again but I am yet to copy everything back onto it because I still have other things to do on the PC.

Has anybody else come across this same thing recently? It's such a pain because I have so many other retro games on there (Commodore 64 etc) and it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft have changed something so that it keeps coming up with the same message. :(

I dont think you should have formatted it for 'games' even though technically it contains games in ROM formats (ISO, zip, sfc etc). Choose to keep the drive as 'media' instead and it should work fine.

It happened to me but on a raspberry, when the sd card got way too much stored games, it causes crash, bug while navigating on the menu.
Fortunately i found the solution after a research (it works for all storage support)

-All formatting programs doesn't erase the partitions on the SD card, or USB card (like SD formatter etc.) except one : Rufus formatter.
Got my SD card for Ps2 full and the same for my raspberry (for games until 32 bits, except saturn) as all storage device got a partition : that program erase it as some problems occurs when an storage is full (but with a partition of course).

https://rufus.ie/en/

I hope it will resolve your problem. Ah yes, about PS2 emulation you should try to download LRPS2 core from retroarch (if it's possible on Series X) : you just have to up the anti aliasing SSAA to *16 and there's a choice to up the resolution but with another way than all others emulator. Something more natural.
It's a brand new emulator (like vibration missing) but already the one providing what should looks like a PS2 HD without any sort of glitches in any games.
Even Ridge Racer 5 (a super hard game to emulate correctly) looks like an HD remake.

Billy you are a star matey, that is correct. I have not tried it yet but I looked at my notes from when I first tried emulation on Xbox and I have written there "Make sure it is Media" !!!! What a donkey I am :LOL:

Thanks again matey :)

Thank you too for your advice it is good to know these things.

Would you say that LRPS2 is better than XBSX2 when it comes PS2 emulation?

Thanks again :)

The method used to upscale image is by far the most secure and bug free above all others emulators. But if you're okay with your emulator (like me with aesther on ARM) it's not (edit) ultra necessary. But if you're a bit annoyed by aliased stuffs, and micro flickering

I noticed that in fact it depends to the camera view + of course hairstyle : there's medium, large and Far : large is the only one giving flickering, and unfortunately the most used and the best to play those old-school games.
No problem with far, no problem with medium range camera. Only, the most used camera by default (large) got that issues :CRY:

About LRPS2/
First need to choose the interpreter system (between vulkan, opengl, etc.) and there's a new one named ParaLLEI-GS : choose it then add 2 options it's ultra simple : 16 x SSAA + "high screen scan out"

At the moment the thread opened about flickering on PES + emulators, it was the old version of LRPS2, one week after they corrected it.

In fact it use the natural method about how you can upscale a PS2 : with super Anti-aliasing and allow to up the resolution but not X2 or X5 : it depends to the SSAA you assigned. It takes the low res. of the PS2 and multiply super aliasing filters first. The others just multiply the 3D resolution in a more brutal way.
For example, on any emulator Ridge Racer 5 got flickers and others bug. Here's it's clean like water :

@Juventino32 has created various options files for PS2 PES/WE games which are based on the original seasons. Just take a look in the corresponding forums and sort by "PS2".
You'd normally need a Max Drive or something similar to import option files but since you've got a MX4SIO I believe you can create virtual memory cards and store saves directly on the micro SD for the MX4SIO. So you can use the utility for windows called mymc for PS2. This allows you to import max, xps and other formats PS2 save files use to virtual memory card.

@alebolo , I've indeed OF for PES 3, PES 6, PES 2008 and WE 2008 for PS2.

PES 3 is completed.
PES 6, I'm busy improving it (player faces).
PES 2008 is completed but I plan to improve it with preset faces too.
WE 2008 basic version is done and I'm busy creating the missing UCL teams for the original season.

Just check my signature.

Slowly plugging away at trying to make English versions of the stats spreadsheets of the Japanese PS2 games. It can be a real nightmare trying to identify some of the more obscure fake named players...

That looks exhausting 😄

Believe me it can be! Trying to trawl through any and every website, through the old Champ Manager databases trying to identify a player with a fake name... And sometimes the fake name isn't even close to their real name! But I'm getting there...

Maybe you just need to find a Japanese friend who can read the player names Would save you a lot of trouble lol
Why don't you put out a request to see if anyone fits that bill that can help you.
