The Retro-PES Corner

I'd say my only "annoyance" would be the wrong kit and logo for Yokohama F Marinos honestly. But other than that, an excellent share tbh. I've never seen such a comprehensive Asian football patch
I will check to correct it on the 2 or 3 coming days (right now i'm on something else). it's annoying for me too you know lol.
Yes it's excellent and comprehensive, but the most incredible thing is that faces and stats are all worked for the occasion on every single teams, even nations (some height might be uncorrect but lower the team is, harder you could get informations about players)
One of the most detailled versions with league pretty hard to found infos and how to rate players correctly, but they did it. NT are also impressive, from Hong Kong to Turkmenistan etc. .... I can't say anything but "Yes!"

So what i have to do is renaming teams licenced that you can't do manually, and try to found a Yoko FM 2023-24 or 24-25 we on PES 2021 or if possible on another patch including that teams, or taking it from PES 21 and try to convert it for PES 2014 ps2.

No idea if you can convert the same way as PES6 kits like they purpose on Pesmaster. But there's tons of 2022 2023 2024 2025 patchs on youtube for PS2 from all countries, it's incredible. That's why i started to like much more PES 2014 ps2 > so easy to mod and the game even with a little different philosophy in the way they balanced it, is amusing and there's very rare superheroes actions (dribble/passes/shoot).

In the tons of patch, i took a look and there's always some very ugly errors and players strongers than Maradona (especially Jrplays patchs)
There's two with stats more or less okay is the "Euro 2024 " one, and if i remember well "PES galaxy 24-25) or another i need to check

PES6 format YFM kits there, if it helps you

Back to the thread theme, i found a superb version of PES 2014 PS2 with ALL asian club and nations. A very great work, and stats aren't too high at all like for example the Indonesia or Malaysia patch i tried another day :

Based on PES 2014 ps2 but that version fits pretty well for all season update or specifics mods (easy to mod and apply a "souls" on a patch if you know what i mean)
Hate to say the truth, but in reality the patch is an unauthorized version of JrPlay paid patch. :)

More than speed of players, it's the agility and dynamism (players from your team + cpu running moving all too fast)

To be honest i don't have difficulty to score or more, to win at all in both PES6 and WE10le against CPU. I remember scored 3 or 4 goal 5 stars difficulty directly the first time i tried as i didn't know WE10LE it existed on the past so i wanted to try it. To me it's the same as PES 6 but faster, now i won't say anything bad regarding the game as i didn't really played it a lot, just a matter of feeling, a bad Pes6 taste on my mouth the first time i tried it. But i will give it his chance as people said often it's not a bad version ;)
Now about WE10 i made a league with friends on it and it's probably the version i hated the most, his Occidental young brother can be fun with small teams (we also did a league on it, we created a bunch of small teams over Others C > it was fun) but WE10 is dead for me i'm still searching where the midfilders are on the pitch.

PES 6 has some potential and i owned the Xbox 360 version, there was inertia, the game was slower, it's harder to do everything etc. and it's fun as scoring needs at least a little more concentration. That f****d up potential (freedom to move etc. but all is tainted in red by bugs, counter, success rate level etc.). is the main reason why i hate PES 6 ps2 and didn't played on that version neither on PC. All that potential trowed by the window just to please to a bigger crowd : same as Efootball but PES name was iconic and people brought it eyes close same as myself.

Sad that the 360 version got an edit mode cut in half otherwise i would have really loved it if it was on PC. You should try it if Xenia run on your PC and you'll see : even animations are much more natural than PES 2008 on the same console/generation. Now there's people who don't like it, matter of taste, but like Efootball when the game have bad reputation due to X stuffs (out too soon) most of people play just to check how bad the game is, not simply testing it for real. Cyberpunk for example became a great game and the Dlc give it really a second breath. But still the name, the story behind and the sticker on the game's image "bad for eternity" lol even if the game change totally with years and patches.

Now back to retro PS2 talk :
And yes PES 5 is more dynamic that's true but players agility and moving with the ball is way slower. Passing too, but defenders are faster yes, probably because they don't have the ball and it's more marked on PES5 the with/without the ball speed.
Speed doesn't really bother me if the game is good, and still feeling human, of course there's some acceptance limits lol.
But PES5 isn't the faster PES in comparison to the 4 or WE10). I ain't a fan of WE9LE neither. it's not an improved but a different PES 5 version. And WE9 is probably the most defensive PES you can found with PES1 or WE5FE. Then, i don't search a total simulation, but an active football balanced like Seabass described the series named it "action football".

If you want the game i purposed you can ask me on PM, i can upload at least JLWE10 (the Jl2007 is easy to found)
Now to be honest, i said they're a better PES6 version but it's still not part of my favourites gameplay, vanilla of course. WE2008, PES5, WE9 and JLWE2008 are my top 4, i'll add WE5FE appart as it's a very different type of gameplay but i really love it. Then there's WE7 and WE7i, WE8LE, and the games i mentionned.

Mmmhh i truely believe than the korean version are corrected to suit to korean player, which make it another game for those people. Both Korean version was out very late and don't even get transfers you can found in game's out in april-june with J-league : i suppose the game is directly modded from PES 6, while the others are a succession of enhancements and plays differently : i talk about WE9LE case as i know that one better for example.

JLWE2007 AI should be more adequate as it's the closer database version of PES6 serie with updated transfers.

Ps: sorry for the long read, passion is my second name :P
Don't worry for long post. I like exchange opinion about these games. I really like PS2 pes, even with their technology limitations they still provide an unparraled football experience in my opinion.
About We10Le.. i had the same bad impression too at my first try, but giving It more chances i start loving It. Maybe u should try some sessions again and playing with green arrows it's better i think (in case u used Red ones).
I hope i will be able to try jlwe2007, so i Will give my feedback

Never ever i using all Red arrows! Vade Retro Satan :TWIST:
It's a blaspheme when i ddl an OF and i see Red arrows assigned, attributes is perhaps the things i'm more interested since ISS pro evo, all in Red?
I don't get it, why. Never in red too, always random.
Arrows first with ISS on snes, lookalike different players too make me like ISS more than all football games on 16 bits.
Then, on ISS pro evolution : first, got the feeling to have the real Zidane or Inzaghi or Maldini with their strength and weaknesses more sensitive than in every other football game was one of the 2 game changer.

The second is the pressing system (all football games feeled arcade because it was too hard to defend, but when you have played football for real, PRESSING is something natural. And they changed the defense system forever which was the recipie to get a good balance as defending directly was too hard, makes me fall in love for the series.
People never talk about it but thanks to that, it was first ever balanced football game, simply, well before we found the 1-2 thing lol. Pressing was also in ISS 98 but a bit less the stats influence, it wasn't that "pro", but i was and still a big fan of that old version as the 1-2 isn't a game killer.

I even prefers to play that one on PS1 or WE3 Final than WE2002 : if i want a gameplay feeling like a chess game, i launch PES1 or WE5FE.

@simogto90 i will try a cup or something like that, on Superstar difficulty as i'm far from my old level lol. But the 6 stars difficulty should be complicated to program : all in defense for making it hard to score or in attack and having high scores for both teams? The question is still relevant

Hate to say the truth, but in reality the patch is an unauthorized version of JrPlay paid patch. :)
Ah he didn't showed pics of it if i remember on his YT vids, just a link to paid for the game, something i found totally normal when the amount of work is THAT big. He should have worked on it day and night.
I will delete the post by respect for him. Thanks for the clarification.
(Up to you to share that version between yourselves in PM, sad for Jrplay but we didn't know at first and i won't play an ML with it. Just few games)

Sorry bro, i'm on jihhad against PES 6 right now (see efootball thread, perhaps i push it too much but it's my way to say WTF when i read tons of youtube vids with "PES 6 the best football game ever created", i just want to break a wall when i read it.
No the first time i tried WE10LE for i was "mehhh", but it's not a PES6 copy paste, there's small differences.
A very bad experience, the game seems even easier and faster (i'm pretty sure if the case) to do incredible things than PES 6.

What i believe is that those games seems totally made for replays, like on some Fifa who looks great when you see some goals compilation but are very bad when you play them. Joking but not that mutch.

Konami did each year a good version, i try to says in my mind that PES 6 is JLWE2007 or JLWE10 Europa . With JL2007 gameplay or at least, the only re-balanced JLWE10 Europa', big fans since the beginning
Still dynamic games, but enjoyable and finally completely balanced, the midfield doesn't make figurating.

The 3 only PES/WE i don't have the SD card for my PS2 + MX4SIO (to best way to play iso on PS2 directly on memory card entry) are WE10, PES6 and WE10LE.... I erased them after switching between versions. It's just not my thing when you can do easily things which are difficult to do IRL, and when players feels like super-heroes.

I own WE9LE as it's still a more or less good game but for me the most overrated as it's worst regarding all PES 5 version era (WE9 and JLWE9 bury it totally, but they aren't on PC) because it's seems the closer one from PES 6, like i remember @Madmac79 said once, i totally feel the same. But i admit it's a good game overall, by far in comparison to the 6th.
But your replays deserves a like as it's cool to watch. But like i said to all people sticked on PES6 : try others versions, i give you some suggestion. Perhaps you won't like all those versions but they're at least challenging in comparison.
Exactly! I'm not a big fan of WE9 LE.. I feel like it's kind of the worse of both worlds, faster/easier than any other WE9 based game and same bad CPU AI in possession. I think that, as other "last" ones of a chapter, it was mythicized well beyond his qualities.

For the rest, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment (even tho I kinda like WE 10). I could never bring myself to love Pes 6 as much as I loved almost every other previous Pes chapter, I've always saw it as a step backward for so many reasons.

Finally a third person or fourth i don't know some people opinions exactly when they post.
About WE10, it's bad with big teams, and there's no such bug as in PES 6.
I like WE10 but only on Versus human in fact. While PES 6 and WE9 LE i can't enjoy them only by playing with very weak teams.

Very interesting read here. I only tried WE10 or WE10LE (can't remember now) a little bit. Not enough to get a real idea on how good it is. I liked the overall feeling but need more time. It was the first PES I scored from a corner kick directly but Mihajlovic I consider a cheat code from dead balls anyway. With him and Recoba I scored some of my best goals, and Pirlo of course.
I also played WE8LE quickly, will need more time for that, too. Are there pc versions of these games by the way? I only played ps2 versions on pcsx2.

Recently I played a lot of WE9LE and love it. The flow of the game, the feeling when passing and especially when shooting from long distance. Every goal is satisfying and different. I played as Lazio against Roma and was down 0-1 in the final minutes when I had a corner kick. I put attack level to the maximum to make my defenders come up. Suddenly I saw Peruzzi was there, too! It was the very first time ever in any PES that I saw my goalkeeper in the other box at all! Unfortunately, he didn't score but I could at least make sure that Roma didn't score in the empty goal and made the last second equalizer anyway.

It is great that we have the forum here to discover more and more games. And it is cool to read so many different opinions. Back in the days I only knew PES 4, 5, 6 and so on and then games like PES 2011, 2012 etc that made me go back go older pes games very quickly. These winning eleven games are a breath of fresh air. And it seems like there are still a couple ones more to try. So everybody can choose their favorite game.

Quite a few people have asked me for the "PES 6 Superstar Level Mod" through PM. :)

This mod adds the "Superstar Level" in PES 6, IMO signficantly improving the awareness of the CPU. I've really enjoyed it!

I will link to it here for future reference. I include Cheat Engine 5.5 and the Superstar Level Instructions! (all quite straightforward, included in the Zip File)

In addition, if you want to play the Superstar Level Mod in Cup Mode, here are additional instructions. :TU:

Is there an option file editor that works with WE8LE?
By exchanging WE8LE code (it's SLPM-65788) to PES4 (SLES 52760), you can open it with a "EditPes4Optionfile" editor.

But there's a good old patch with all kits and PES/WE utd replaced by the two japanese teams finalist on their cup.
Using JLeague WE8 as a basis.

JLWE10 Europa is peak PES 6 because there exists a Clasicos patch for it. JLWE2007 is good too

I found editpes4Optionfile 1.25 which opens and edits WE8LE save directly.

Since I find JLWE8AC and WE8LE gameplay really interesting I'm trying to experiment with slowing the game down.

I found the following to have an interesting effect in the gameplay, while keeping the "unpredictable" factor that I believe the WE8 family have more than any other game in the series.

All players:
Top Speed - 45
Accel - 45
Dribble speed - 30
Short pass acc - 20
short pass speed - 35
long pass acc - 20
long pass speed - 30
Shot accuracy - 10
Shot power - 30
aggression + 5
mentality + 5

Outfield players only:
Response - 35
Agility - 35

Keepers only:
Response - 10
Agility - 10

Not regarding gameplay, it's just than J-league patch are very few and too difficult for modding. And sorry but your argument is a bit WTF don't take it bad, but it's not even an argument : like i would say PES6 is better because there's 3 portugal teams i like instead of 2 lol. I said something totally random, don't search the point guys haha.

JLWE10 keeps a bit of PES6 bad taste but i like the game as most of PES6 trashes are remove and the game is cleaner, but JLWE2007 erase it and the game is more fresh, there's more differences and it's more balanced overall. Now to me both doesn't reach the 2008 iterations at all (PES WE and JLeague versions)

But they're still good to play, different. But objectively there's much more outcomes for ball physics, controls, missing stuff, now the balance is almost the same as those version. Except JL2008 to me more balanced, it's weird than Juventino82 find that one easier it should be the way he plays : to me it's the hardest of the 3, slower, better AI and more balanced than those 06-07 games (restoring PES 6) and they already got a good balance.
Now i don't search the hardest game of all otherwise i would play WE9 jap only, as long as a version is challenging on the long term it's okay. And we all noticed that it's harder on Cup or League than Exhibition : teams are more aggressive and tactically handled.

Easier or not that version is the most polished and the one with the best dynamic and overall speed. i found PES 2008 too fast, less the case for the 2 others 2008 versions, i need the 2 WE as i need to get National teams, it's the essence of ISS/PES from the beginning.
