Thanks. Think I'll check this out. I found Sany's installer for the base patch I think you're talking about. So if I download that classic patch from the following link and use your option file, that should be enough? Or would I also need an updated exe etc? Cheers.

https://evo-web.co.uk/threads/pes-6...installers-by-sany.67651/page-70#post-3491779

no i fixed all the kits, faces, hairs, chants, boots and EXE etc, added balls and stadiums, was working on it since december

you'd probably need all my files to get the best of the patch

@mattmid: Exactly: we did achieve promotion too soon. The good thing about spending a few years on the D2 is that you get to develop the players to prepare them for D1 action later on; our success came with a huge toll. Plus, our older players are not...very old yet. For example I for some reason thought Iouga was on his late 30s, turns out he's 32 or 33 still. Huylens is 35 and shall be the first to retire, however he'll probably wait 2/3 years, and that's when I'll finally be able to buy another Default - and when I do, they'll be so crappy that I'll be begging Huylens to reconsider his retirement...
---
Midway through the season, after meticulously managing every player's condition, I'm finally able to play my usual starting-11 again. Take a look at the players' energy levels after just 60 minutes of play (and little R1 usage...):

rx9dOLy.jpg

We won't survive this season.

A few matchdays later, it's the first D1 Cup encounter and like I had stipulated beforehand, our starting-11 rests and our bench takes care of it.
Hamsun was injured, Castolo and Ordaz were too tired, which leaves our reserve strikers Burchet and Huylens as the sole choices to make up our attacking duo. As usual, Burchet lasts only 50/60 minutes (each minute he spends on the pitch is a crime against football) and not only I don't want to use Ordaz nor Castolo, I can't replace him for any other player because I want to save all of their stamina for the league matches.

Only one player didn't have any fatigue. He's called...Zamenhof.
By the 70th minute or so, while the game is still 0-0, Burchet comes off for Zamenhof as he makes his seasonal debut as a striker - he had played a few minutes as a DMF last season already.
Here's the rather stylish man dribbling out the air:
5A247lk.jpg

This was the highlight of his exhibition, as expected, and the game ended 0-0.

Finally, here's an incredible double-miss by Iouga on that Cup game, which denied reserve keeper Lothar a chance to shine as our long free kick taker. No one on that starting-11 had any idea on how to properly take a long free kick, so I said f=ck it, Lethal Lothar takes it.

@miguelfcp  I love the fact they were both headers. Bit of a shame it didn't come back again and he could have hit the bar to round things off. He probably would have won a goldfish or something for that.

I didn't record it but had one yesterday where the keeper went to clear it when it was rolling along the line after the defender had just stopped a shot from going in. The keeper ran into it and tried to swipe it clear only to catch it full on and hammer it into the roof of the net!

@mattmid players don't age on Pes 3, that's mainly why I felt comfortable to opt for a challenge like this, however you gave me a great idea for a future try on some more recent Pes, might be even funnier and unpredictable with an aging roster, indeed :D .

@miguelfcp I'm sure you'll survive. Besides, shouldn't buyable regens come out by your next january market ? Vornander, Njorgo and the others. I think they'd be enough to at least you grant you decent rotation. By the way, great stuff on the videos, loved both Zamnehof as a forward (feels very start of the century football or something :D ) and the double miss by Iouga.

Anyway, I got promoted:

playoffs.jpg

After two 1-0 against both Athenakos and Bourgogne. Lost the third useless match against Emilia Sud (which did the only points of the group against me) and went up. I ended up losing a lot of defaults, both by offers and by not renewing their contract to save some money, and bought only two players: Verlaat (dutch dc, never heard of him even though back in the days he played for some good teams, like Ajax and the same Werder) and Sheringham, plus the other two I bought at january (Aldair and Mauro Silva).

Really curious to see how the season will go. Will try to give my team a more definite playstyle if possible. First game of the season against Inter, wish me luck!

Ah, didn't know that, PES4 was my first version and I hadn't played 3 until the pes3 patches and I can't recall if I've ever played a ML on it.

Yeah that would be quite a challenge. I think the number that can retire each season is limited isn't it? I can only recall 2 in one season (perhaps 3?). Imagine if it wasn't and most of the squad retired in the same season :D

I just uploaded the next one of my Serie A OF for PES 6, it is now the 1991-92 season. I also wrote a little about the season for those that don't know, I hope you will like it.

https://evo-web.co.uk/threads/pes-6-option-files-serie-a-90s.82403/#post-3516530

I have been playing a lot of Amador recently and it is really a great experience, I lost a couple of games due to poor GK and defenders, and also the forwards often fail so much that is hurts. But thanks to all that every victory feels really good. I read the introduction about this in the amador thread here and I must say: Well done, you have definitely reached what you wanted with that. It really feels like the good old days of football, and you don't have any superhero players that can beat you all alone. Look forward to playing the 2nd season there.

I really enjoy this page here as it shows how much more potential there still is in this great game, there are so many nice patches to play older seasons or current 2019-20, really good in this time without the real football to watch. Thanks to everybody involved.

@Fenomeno9 Thanks for the kind words about Amador. :) It's great to know people are enjoying the different PES6 experience it brings. From an initial idea of mine and @miguelfcp 's several others got on board making fantastic kits and even adboards and it grew from an initial OF into its own patch. If you enjoyed it you might want to check out the Project Odyssey thread (not the retro one you posted in, it's a another one) as well for some more unique leagues (these are just in OF format with some additional bits to add to kitserver/dat) Denmark Div 2 (level 3) for one and Georgia for another. All the teams are at the back end of the OF, the remaining teams being default PES6 OF Teams. The extra files include a menu page designed from scratch by our resident graphics guru @sniglet, similar to the 79/80 one if you've played that.

I thought i would post highlights of my game against Huddersfield. It finished 0-0 but there were some fantastic shots.

Without a doubt for me this is the best PES ever. There are so many, so so many special moments in each match. The CPU play is excellent, not just in attack but all over the pitch. I cannot wait to finish my option file so that i can get a ML started and get some proper videos recorded and posted. I really don’t need another computer game now as this will keep me going for another 10 or so years without a doubt.

Just had to share that as each day i play i am enjoying it more and more. :)

@geeeeee

Awesome highlights. I agree, PES 2008 will continue to be my go to football game for the rest of my years. I will play Fifa, and other PES games on occasion, but 2008 will be my football foundation.

@Special4988 how are you getting on with your Exhibition / ML combination? I can’t remember what you posted now but is there any reason why you don’t just play a normal ML?

Haven't played the 79-80 OF yet but will definitely do, and also try the smaller league OF you mentioned as from time to time it is refreshing to play with totally unknown teams and players instead of superstars.

@Fenomeno9: Glad you're appreciating it. There's a lot that I love about the concept and the experience itself, but probably what strikes me the most is how the gameplay looks totally different from Default PES6; it looks and plays like almost a completely different, new iteration. Me and @mattmid were completely stupefied to find out that, turns out, the amazing physical contact system from PES5 that we all thought had been eliminated in PES6 was actually still there: it just needed those extreme stat-tweaks of Amador to bring it out of the "shadows". Ball physics also came alive like never before.

@geeeeee: It shall forever regarded as be one of the greatest ironies in football gaming history that one of the best PES iterations bears the name of one of the...worst; and that for that same reason, that amazing football game went almost completely unnoticed by the general audience solely because it ran on an older console. This is probably the ultimate cautionary tale against those who dismiss retro gaming.

----
A few moments of my PES5 ML:

- Stein goes to school - cheeky CPU dribbling...

- Ximelez: Olé!!

And finally, surely one of my most memorable moments in my football gaming history.
Picture the scene: an away league match against the almighty Lisbonera, one of the strongest teams in D1. Admirably we manage to take control of the match and though we had many more chances to score, Lisbonera ends up scoring the 1-0.
85 minutes in, still 1-0. I have one last sub to make but, as usual this season, most of my bench is too fatigued. Except for one, and you might already know who that is.
Zamenhof.
Well, I switch to a kind of 2-4-4 with Burchet down the wing, two strikers supporting the Post Player...Zamenhof.
90 minutes in. Nothing. 90+2: It's Ruskin down the wing. He crosses it...

AND IT'S ZAMENHOF WHO SCORES THE 1-1!!!!!

The match ends 1-1 as Zamenhof is crowned the unbelievable hero of this encounter. The Matrix is crashing folks. The following picture is a copy of the original, which has been immortalized in ML United's museum, alongside Minanda's debut in 1996 and Espimas' sex tape.

Heloooooo the sheep baba is here number one pokefan!!

A lot of time has passed. I am now getting more and more into competitive Pokemon, haven't touched retro PES for years...

Until today. Got me a super powerful gamer laptop, setting things up now. Can't wait to hook it up to a monitor and play some high quality 1080p PES 3 Master League this weekend!

Gonna be visiting again every now and then :)) Goddamn I really, really miss some good ole PES, the retro one - still feeling the burn from 2020 fiasco and money wasted on PS4 Pro.

Hi all! I've been on EvoWeb for around a year now. And I've come across this thread and some of the stories of how you found your love for PES and how we're all still playing the beloved classics. So just a brief introduction, my name is Cam and this is how I found my love for PES.

When I was younger, I was always the type to get the games that were heavily advertised on TV. So the FIFA Games, GTA Games, Tekken Games, WWE Games... Etc.

And back then the Internet wasn't the phenomenon that it was today. So all I was really seeing was the game advertisements via the TV.

So building up to one of my favourite releases ever (SmackDown Shut Your Mouth) a magazine in the UK called PSM2 was revealing early screenshots of SmackDown SYM, and along with the magazine you would always get a DVD Disk full of reviews and upcoming trailers. And on one of the disk's, there was a trailer for an upcoming game called Pro Evolution Soccer 2.

And this was the trailer that caught my eye (Link Below)

And then a review came out for PES 2 after release, showcasing the gameplay. And it was pretty much focused around Beckham. Showcasing his signature Corner-Kick and Free-Kick motion and that was one of the littlest things to make me want to buy the game. All because of my favorite player as a kid, was playing how he was supposed to be in a video game. (I can't seem to find that specific trailer but they were showcasing Beckham for England and Aragon = Manchester United) I noticed that the names of some players were indeed fake names. And for some unknown reason that never was a reason for me not wanting to have the game. It just looked so fun to try.

So because I already had WWE SYM for my birthday that year I wasn't allowed to have another game for a while. Because my parents simply could afford it. There was also another PS2 Magazine called PS2 Magazine Official. And the DVD Disk's you would get with the magazines also came with playable demos. And I noticed one day while going to the local shop as a kid that the latest PS2 magazine was out, but with PES 2 as a playable demo. Now I really wanted to try the game out badly, but my family had no money at the time to buy it for me... In comes, my Grandad who said he went down to the shop to grab his daily paper, came back with the magazine I've been asking for. And from trying the demo of PES 2. I have not looked back since. And to this day I still play the classic PES Games due to the array of mods available for the older games, and for that pure nostalgic rush. I'm not entirely sold on the PS3/XBOX360 Era of PES, mainly because I had expectations that it would get back to it's best after the PES 2008 issues. I think the current title has brought the series back into a good direction, but if I ever get the feeling that the game is not feeling right with every DP Update. I just go straight back to the older PES Games, and it's nice to have that to fall back on.

Anyway thanks for reading this, and I'm going to continue through the thread with a cuppa to see what other stories people have.

Cam :)

@geeeeee Currently swapping between my manager only ML with my created team, (defaults + new signings) Euro championship with France, and my Spurs exhibition ML. My main reason for doing the ML in exhibition mode was to get rid of random form arrows. I like players playing to their true potential every game, and though I am still testing, the games feel more random and realistic. But I am not against playing normal ML or cup games, just nice to mix it up and see what I will stick with.

@miguelfcp Genius putting Zamenhof up front! That is some next level Pep Guardiola/ Mourinho manager tactics.

I have been thinking about playing some PES 2013 master league. I do not want updated rosters though.

Does anyone known a place for old patches for former PES games? I have looked around the archives of this site, but most download links are dead.

If you know an old patch for the 2012/2013 season, I would gladly appreciate it.

Hi Cam, Welcome to the corner, I really enjoyed your post. It was like looking into a mirror haha.

We both grew up in the UK relying on magazines for our gaming news fix, It's less than 20 years ago but yet;As we take technology and the internet for granted nowadays we have to tap each other on the shoulder and remind ourselves we didn't have that instant gratification of social media, Instant news and an internet updated every 10 seconds of the day!

I don't know whether it's because i'm getting older and mellowing out on new releases now or whether it's because theirs no mystique surrounding an upcoming release due to the fact your curiosity is satisfied instantly with all the trailers, press releases and preview game play beamed straight to your phone but... I never get excited the same way i did back then.

Especially for Wrestling and Football games because they we're considered niche and didn't get anywhere near enough as much gaming coverage as say a GTA game or a Final Fantasy title. I don't think it was until PES 5 that Official PlayStation Magazine really bananas on marketing and presenting the game hard like it was the Sonic 2 of football games. So that made every month and the handful of blurry screenshots and the tidbit of trivial information heighten my personal hype for games that much more than what we get now.

It's like being slowly seduced by a stripper compared to a gynaecological spread on PornHub.
The latter leaving you with the "Welp, That's that! move on to the next."

Any it's funny you mentioned Smackdown Shut Your Mouth, I actually made a tribute trailer to it yesterday!

This is probably my favourite wrestling game ever too, And i love many but like PES 5, If i had to pick one that meant the most to me in my life it'd be this one. They had the right balance of realism, Art style, Great animations and controls while keeping it simple and accessible not to mention reflecting a time when wrestling was still super popular and tight. I bring this up many times in this thread as @miguelfcp can attest to, Realism can be really cool and it can be immersive but it can also be dangerous as it becomes a standard bearer especially to more casual gamers and it causes them to lack judgement and makes them dismissive of truly superior yet older games just because they're not 4K people simulators.

I used to want ultra realistic wrestling games when i was younger and with the recent WWE 2K games i got my wish, But i realised that strict realism, convoluted controls & real world simulation isn't as fun as i had hoped and it's actually really tedious to play, Almost like a chore even. That's when it occurred to me that balance is key - A fusion of recognisable realism that we understand makes sense yet is comprehensive to execute on the controller.

I've really gotten back into PES 2020 again on the PC and i'm enjoying it for the most part but on the subject of simple controls, As much as i despise PES 2019, The controls where perfectly fine for that game. Close dribble with R2, How it has always been for over a decade and not one single person has complained about it - Yet they decided to remap it to the right stick and it just doesn't work. Nobody asked for this!

Any way Cam, I've gone on enough. I've seen your channel and i'm very impressed - It's nice to see more and more people embracing the older games and are willing to make videos about them and hopefully inspire new audiences. Hope we hear more from you!

I'm hearing a lot about this Amador thing, and thinking to try it to see that gameplay. A question: as it seems to bring back lot's of magic from PES5, was that stat editing formula ever adapted to any other patch (with pro players)? And if that formula was ever disclosed?

I created the Amador option file in much the same way I've done all my other option files, although the calculations change regularly as I tinker with them. I use FM stats as my starting point. For Amador, as the whole premise was to recreate Amateur football (Amador means Amateur in Portuguese - hence the name - thanks to @miguelfcp on that :) ) I got together about 5000 lower level FM players from leagues such as English lower Non League, Malaysia, Indonesia and similar, sorted them into positions played and worked it out so they'd be enough of each to fill all the teams plus the free agents. Then I used those low FM stats to convert into the PES stats.

The key to getting more fouls in PES6 is to lower the BAL stat, plus I think the low skill sets also help with that too. With these players their low stats meant the BAL was generally low all round, meaning lots of 'collision tackles' led to one or the other player going down and fouls being given. Stamina is also low which of course lowers the player's stats later in the game which adds to the whole amateur football effect too as legs and minds tire.

As to any other OF's similar, the Central Europe OF I did 3-4 years back has a couple of leagues that are of low quality and hence kind of similar- Alabania and Macedonia were in that file as well as Slovenia.

Hey guys, can you help me? I was googling and I couldn`t find exact answer. Is there version of WE 9 LE with stadiums? I really like gameplay and I would like to start masterleague and I love variety of stadiums. Some said that stadium server in WE 9 LE is not working properly but I found some stadium packs for some patches but all links were dead.

Thanks for answer

@Camaldinho: Hey Cam, very nice to have you here, and what a great first post here on the Corner!

@MafiaMurderBag: Other people not in this thread may believe this is the typical old man rambling about the good-ol'-days, but things were really different back then on that regard and in my opinion, better. It's curious that you mention PES5. I remember, as usual, counting the days before the PSM2/PlayStation Magazine hit the stands in the summertime, because I knew it'd contain the first previews and screenshots of the next PES game. I'd read the article multiple times to immerse myself in the hype, and would carefully analyze each precious screenshot to find out exactly what was going to change from the previous PES iteration to the next. When it was that time of the year, I bought one of those magazines which had very little text but showed a screenshot of the upcoming PES5 with a virtual Thierry Henry...exhaling air on a cold night! I was mesmerized, how realistic PES was getting! This was a new feature whose impact on the experience was virtually non-existent but these little things used to matter a lot more.

Now, the landscape is very different. Information circulates at such a high pace that I'm perfectly able to watch a trailer for an upcoming game/movie I'm excited about and on the next day I might even forget I saw it - and this is not (just) my senility kicking in: information is totally devalued because that "market" has been flooded. We're bombarded by so much info that even before one gets to play the game/watch the movie, one's already tired of it because of having heard so much about it.

About that Smackdown game, I played a lot of WWE games back then, mainly around the Kurt Angle/John Cena era. I think I still have Here Comes the Pain, which I've heard to be considered one of the best of the series. I played very little of it back in the day, instead immersed myself on later titles like 2006/2007.

@Tinker: I'm biased, but I wholeheartedly believe you and everyone should try it alright hehe. One might like it or not, but it's unquestionably a fresh experience. Plus, adding to what @mattmid already said, because of the low attributes, it's the perfect playground for longer matches. We've played loads of 25, even 30 min. matches with realistic scorelines and gameplay.

Well, scrap that. I didn't f*cking save the ML. This wouldn't be a big issue at all given I only "lost" two matches (a couple of league draws), but in this case it is absolutely shocking for Zamenhof, particularly. That's it folks, it was all a dream, Zamenhof didn't score any goal.

I replayed those matches. The first one was against Bosphorus: it had ended in a draw on the unsaved attempt...and it did end 0-0 this time around. Next, vs Lisbonera...just as it had happened previously, I dominated the entire first half without scoring...and, again, Lisbonera scores on its first dangerous attempt right on the beginning of the 2nd half. And who scores it? Noon Goetz once again. Oh my; is this the Zamenhof Curse? Is he bound to score another goal this time around? Well, like previously, it's 1-0 for Lisbonera until the 85th minute - and again, I decide to sub in Zamenhof for the last five minutes of the match. I even tried to repeat the same play: Ruskin/Macco down the left, crosses it to Zamenhof...it worked last time. This time it didn't, the match ends 1-0.

Here's the league table after the (much needed) winter transfer break:
wR4bxys.jpg

This is going to be a wild ride, for there is few points separating each team, from the 1st to the last: we are not far from the places that give access to WEFA competitions next seasons, yet we're also not far from the bottom.

Caopolo has eliminated us from the D1 Cup on the quarter-finals. Oh and Iouga has been called-up again for his National Team, as well as Stremer; both have played 90 minutes as bus drivers for their teams. Iouga, who's known for collecting yellow cards, has gotten a speeding ticket.
