The Retro FIFA Discussion Thread (All FIFA games by EA are welcome!)

Oh, hello there. I ran into this thread trying to find functional links for long-forgotten tools for games of yesterday.
(read: I got back into FIFA 2003 (!!) and I'm trying to mod it - I actually have been having ideas for modding the older FIFAs, up until 2005 at least, for a while now - , but I read there was this tool called FCDB XP 2003 that can do stuff the officially-released Creation Center cannot do, but I can't seem to find it even on FIFA Korea, which has always been my go-to site for such long-forgotten tools as they always had them even after Filefront started cleaning house. Soooo... Does anyone, by chance, still have it floating around? Or any of the CC updates, for that matter? I managed to find CC 1.0 but it's rather limited).

EDIT: Never mind, I managed to get them. FIFA Korea was going through one of their downtimes when I wrote that... Either that or somehow it's easier to download through my phone than the computer (I uploaded the files to Google Drive so I could pick them up on the PC). Either way, I'm trying everything out to see what I can do.

EDIT 2:
So I started modding FIFA 2003 with FCDB XP, and I'm making some headway here.

My final objective is changing the teams composition (not all of them, just a few leagues, NTs and completing the Brazilian League), but so far covering one of the most glaring omissions the game shipped with has made me optimistic (this kit was all me).

BUMP because this is good enough that I needed to share.
Went a bit further with FCDBXP and added two more of the teams that I wanted:

Still need to figure out the menu things (logos and minikits), but so far so good. Seems like I can work it better than Creation Centre.

how did you add Japan in it ? I know there's a DB file in fifakorea site but it felt it was made by another person? , I can sense it's the original database of Japan and Holland hidden in the game how did you do that ? Thanks

Yeah FIFA 21 and FIFA 20 i would even say is better than FIFA 19(which was too easy to exploit the CPU), FIFA 18(way too fast and easy to score goals). I have created mods for playing FIFA 21 and it has a very good base. The CPU always very realistic football where they take tactics into account and not just ping pong their way into the goal(introduced in FIFA 22) and they also cross. FIFA 21 is very underrated. The main issue is positioning in FIFA 21 but you can easily fix it with mods and sliders.

I made the kits and most of the players from scratch (only Hide Nakata, Inamoto and Ono were in the game) on FCDB XP, using PES 2/WE 6 as a basis. Same for Holland (where I only needed to create Frank de Boer, who was not in the game despite being one of Barcelona's key players at the time). I didn't download any patch from there because I want to make my own thing in FIFA, separate from what others had done (might just pick up kits to speed things up, though).
The good thing of FCDB XP is that it actually lets you put more teams in the leagues - CC doesn't allow you to do that even if it looks like it does. I just couldn't put in their UI elements (badges and minikits), and I'm having trouble working the Raptors to manage that.

FIFA 21 PS5 is kind of a hidden gem. Last game before hypershit ruined animations and dribbling, and the DMF AI wasn’t nearly as bad as FIFA 21 PS4
Yeah the first PS5 version, was a pretty big leap graphically as the first next gen title, it does still have some good elements of Frostbite FIFA & some nice ball physics, it's still pretty playable, just a shame we didn't get an identical PC port until FIFA 23.

What I currently own in legit copies is FIFA 21 through FC 25 (though 21 I only had on PlayStation before). And then there’s PES 2021. I wouldn’t call myself a core user, more of a casual one—but when it comes to Career Mode, I honestly think my love for it is second to none (lol).
So, after spending way too much time browsing all kinds of posts on EvoWeb—which has basically become a hobby of mine—I started getting curious about the older FIFA titles. After a lot of hesitation, I finally gave in and tried some cracked versions. I played 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19, and honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite in terms of gameplay. Right now though, I think 17 and 19 are the ones I like the most. Somehow, I started to understand a little bit why people still stick with the older FIFAs.
That said, cracked versions don’t really work well with mods—tons of crashes and issues. And since I can’t exactly go around asking openly about it (lol), I just got tired of all the trial and error. So I decided to go back and download FIFA 21 again. But then—what do you know—mods wouldn’t work! Even though it’s the legit version! (lol)
Sorry for the long preamble, but here’s the point: does anyone have a working Mod Manager? The latest one just doesn’t seem to apply mods properly.
By the way, I’m having the best time ever on FC 25 with Anth’s gameplay mod and FIFER’s mod combined.

Yes I agree. I started a CM a few weeks ago with Wolverhampton and it is fun so far. OS Sliders and WC Difficulty are the way to go, since the CPU is too defensive on Legendary. And I feel like that the game plays even better on normal speed (Sprint and Acceleration slightly decreased). The only problem I have is, that Games against bigger teams are too easy. I won 1-0 against ManCity away and 3-1 against Man United at home. Even though Man City controlled the game, I never felt real pressure. You just hope that the CPU does not play any cheating through balls, where your defenders suddenly make space and never get close to the strikers. I wish the game would make strong teams really feel like a threat because they are better and not because the cpu can decide any second that it needs to score a goal now.
But at the same time, games against weaker or similar teams can feel a lot more difficult. I lost to Fulham 2-5 for example.:D

I found FIFA Mod Manager v1.1.1 and got it working without any problems. I applied FIFER’s realism mod and tried it out a bit. It really brought back some nostalgia, but now I’m wondering how far I’ll stick with it.
