It's certainly worth a try especially as there are no other options other than PES. I think the game is massively improved over the demo, but perhaps the safest way to try is to rent it first if you can. That way you can play around with the settings and sliders and see what can be done. One thing is for sure, the FIFA12 thread is a lot happier than here!

Here where i live there isn't a place/store where i can rent the game, and i don't know anyone close to me that has the game either.

I actually decided to buy it now, at least for curiosity and also to have another football experience. I just got some extra money today, so money won't the problem.

I have a good expectation for fifa 12 and it's sliders. I don't expect it to be all i ever wanted on a football game, but I think the sliders give us enough ammount of adjustments to make the game really enjoyable and probably far better than fifa 10 and 11.

As i said, my opinion is usually similar to your opinon and henry's opinion, and since you both think that fifa 12 is a good game this year, i think it's worth taking the risk and buying it.

Maybe Im goint to get fifa today still, so, if it doesn't bother you, I'd like you to give me some tips to get the best out of Fifa 12.;)

I just don't get all this flaming and pointless discussion that's almost reaching a personal level! The name of the thread is "Not Happy with PES 2012", then why not leave it to the people who are unhappy with the game? :LOL:

This is pointless guys, these guys here in this thread are lost to Konami! Better focus your efforts to convince people you actually have a chance to convert ;)
 
I'm not trying to convert anyone, that would be impossible, as the game simply may not be someones cup of tea. That's fine. What isn't right, are people hating on a game, lowering this place, without any real knowledge of how or why. I've said it many times, this is a seriously hardcore title, and it isnt old PES. Sure we have 'Old PES' passing options, i.e 'On Rails', but the game has advanced a million miles from that with it's 'Simulated' offering.

I have no problem people hating this PES, but what I dont and wont agree with, is people blaming the game mechanics and stating it unrealistic, when it's anything but.

All I've done is question certain posters on simple, basic questions. If they cannot answer those, when there are clear answers, then their remarks hold no water.

People call me blinded, I suggest that what I can see is very clear. It's those that can't see it, that are the ones, well, blinded.

the thing for me is, how do you know what people are like at playing the game jimmy? i've seen you question peoples ability to play PES 2012, have you played them online or seen them play/

Scoring goals and understanding how or why, are two completely different things.

As for knowing how good people are at playing PES, I couldn't care less. What I will suggest is that those who are comfortable and fully understand all the subtle techniques are not the ones that are unhappy.

As for the arrogance, sometimes you have fight fire with fire.
 
Every body has their limits when it comes to a game, for me I could bare with PES 2011's faults while other people couldn't, never did I suggest that they were hacks or they could not master the game. I played PES 2012 for 3-4 weeks before selling it so I gave it a decent try, its just this time there were too many faults for me to ignore. The catch up bug was still there, players getting pushed off the ball no matter stat wise, players dribbling through you too easy, defenders being in awful positions, blatant scripting, weightless ball feeling when it comes to passing and shooting. The list goes on and on. Every body has their limits and mine were blown by PES 2012.


So if I have not mastered the game then so be it, I'd rather not master a game with so many faults, rather master a game that is enjoyable.
 
I don't see the point in mastering or even becoming adept at a game or any of its elements if the experience isn't fun, which is generally the case for me with PES 2012. Take the shooting for example; A hallmark of the great PES games, shooting this year is inconsistent and unreliable. Ultimately it provides very little fun and much frustration for me.
 
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the shooting mechanics whatsoever.
Jimmy, you have taught me a hell of a lot about this game. I will read your article as it will be interesting and will probably teach me more little tricks that I didn't know about. I've been playing football games forever and the thing about PES, especially 2012, is that you never stop learning and have to adapt your game in order to see more of what the game is about.
I can't say I'm enjoying the offline ML as much as you Jimmy, but I relish the challenge it gives me and winning becomes sweeter as a result.
As you know very well though I obtain my 0 assisted, simulative kicks elsewhere :BOP:.

For me, shooting goes generally where I want it to go in the main, but there are occasions when the shooting goes a bit tits up for me, and does exactly the opposite of what I was trying to achieve. Now I'm not taking sides here, it may be that I haven't got this in place or that in place, but the fact that I can execute what I want a proportion of the time mystifies me further when it doesn't do what I want. Basically this year, the top corner screamers are a thing of beauty, and the finesse placed shots are too. But what I really miss is the low drive, which used to be so satisfying in PES 5/6.

The thing that is bugging me most in PES is just trying to get the balance between a good gameplay experience (say professional level no assists) but me having a stupidly high percentage of the ball (60% plus) or cranking the game up a notch to Superstar and risk the ridiculous AI cheating with things like the lofted wing ball-cross-header goal! The point is professional is too easy, and Superstar is too unrealistic BUT provides me with the greatest challenge. The thing that pisses me off with Top Player/Superstar though is that you have to bend to the way the game needs to be played; it's at these settings that you have to play a fast counter attack based game all the time, which is what I'm trying to get as far away from as possible.
 
I do tend to have about 55% to 60% possession. I expect that though, I had that on Top Player when I tried that level. Which I found easier than Professional. Mainly down to the fact the CPU presses more which left even more gaps and blatant ones at times. The balance though felt wrong on Top Player. I didnt enjoy no-where near as much as Professional.

Low drives are perfomed when you get the ball right out of your feet, accomplished by either a little speed burst or the new knock out of your feet move. You need very little press, you can dig them very low and hard.
 
I didn't watch all the goals Flawed because I didn't need to. The possibility to score goals from long range are endless. Your video doesn't alter the fact that you were playing on assisted settings and passing the ball back infield nearly every time to whack it. Easy.
What we are talking about is the ability within this game to score in a variety of different situations using R2 while dribbling and shooting not just 30 yard screamers, even though they look good, and on assisted. Okay three or or four of the goals were individual, but there is no way this was final retail code in all the shots. The keeper would have done much better with the limp low drives.

The issue with the game is not passing but shooting (even though most people reckon PES 2011 passing system was far superior) so assisted means nothing when it comes to shooting. And 1 bar Assisted for passing is hardly anything to have a go at.

Well I was just quoting what you said before, which is what you re-stated here with the sentence I have bolded. Point taken on the direction sometimes but if more often than not the shot is limp, then it's not the shooting mechanics are broken - but perhaps they could be relaxed a little to be more forgiving on context and user input.

That to me is some of the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard. You can overlook the flaws in a human being and still be good friends with them or have them as your partner. By your logic, if they have one flaw you should kick them from your life because you owe it to your own self dignity????

I've played many games that were fantastic, even though they had some niggles in there which I hoped were not there. You look overall at a game experience and unless it destroys the whole experience for you, a lot of people can overlook the things that don't go well.

And you might not know these flaws until you've played the games - by then you want to finish them/play them, not sell them off.

Fair enough if you don't like PES this year, but to put down other people because they can still play the game, even though it's not perfect and they admit it, is out of line. I'm not going to get personal because it's uncalled for, but I'm sure someone will respond in that way.

Wasn't having a go.
You can tell the difference in your vids from 1 bar to none and it is considerable. Using 0 assisted passing also changes the shooting mechanics because the ball doesn't automatically drop at the players' feet.
Are you really serious in saying that passing was better in 2011?
It wasn't mate and neither is shooting. While the previous edition introduced 0 passing ideals, this one takes it a step further and much more deeper and the same applies to shooting as well.

I think the passing and shooting was much better in PES 2011, especially the shooting. The only thing I like about PES 2012 shooting is that there is more variety such as chips are better and R2 finishing, apart from that there is nothing.

Funny how people can have such conflicting views.

Yep, and I did trade the game about three weeks after release (took advantage of a trade in deal for BF3). I bought it back in December after seeing it on sale for a much reduced price. To be honest I've not played it much since buying it back, and in 2012 I've played two matches.

Anyway, what of it? If you had been following the thread you'd know that I barely play the game at all.
 
You know what? I'm not even sure that guys like Jimmy and Rom are being serious anymore. Are they really THAT deluded and arrogant or are they just taking the piss?

I mean what sort of 30 odd year old man decides to write an essay about why a football GAME is brilliant and why only he and a few select others have the football knowledge and gaming intelligence to understand it? Then when questioned about it he ignores all my entirely logical points and tries to start a playground style argument about who knows more about football. I mean is this guy for real or some sort of comic creation?

As for Rom, what sort of person types a line like "I am 100% right virtually all of the time" without any trace or irony or humour? This is a guy who seems to be reasonably intelligent and probably secretly agrees with most of what I say about Jimmy and PES but cannot bring himself to admit it on this forum for fear of offending his little clique. I come to the conclusion he actually agrees with me due to the fact he consistently fails to point out any real holes in my opinions or arguments and instead throws a couple of arrogant comments around which basically say "no one understands me" then says he's withdrawing from the conversation. Why run away Rom? Dazzle us with your intelligence and infalliblity why dont you?

Northzzz's earlier post was spot on for me. It's time guys like Rom and Jimmy come to terms with the fact that these opinions exist and are just as valid as their own.

No amount of essays or elitist posturing will change those opinions because lets face it, if you change your entire outlook on a game simply because you've read some ridiculous essay or some sniffy "you're too stupid to understand" forum post you're a weak minded fool.

The difference between me and guys like Jimmy is that I'm comfortable with my own opinion and dont feel a desperate need to have it validated by anyone.

The difference between me and guys like Rom is my opinion is my own and not merely a regurgitation of the party line my peer group has decided for me in advance.
