The Movies Thread

American "horror" films are just utter shit really. Starting to watch Drag Me To Hell and it's nothing but a "make a sudden loud noise to make you jump" fest, complete shit.

US film makers really need to take a page from Asian horrors which base their films on suspense and tension. This loud noise shit is just a complete cop-out.

So I turned it off in disgust and decided to watch:

The Taking Of Pelham 123 (2009) - 8/10

Really enjoyed this and thought the acting from Washington and Travolta was superb, good popcorn movie :) Now to watch the original, which I hear is better.

Inglorious Bastards 10/10

Slow start but once it kicks in its brilliant, its got action, homour, blood and guts and a good story

Tarantino at his best here

i wouldn't exactly say it was a slow start, daz.

i have never been more engrossed by two men sitting around a table chatting EVER!! it was riveting because you could almost tell where it was all leading, and both of them knew it, but neither would admit it!

fantastic movie...

2012

I really cant put into words how disappointed i was with this film.

In all honesty - if you have watched day after tomroow, independance day and armaggeddon then dont bother with this

Whatever Works - 9/10

Woody Allen at his best imo, great story telling and fantastic actors.

just a beautiful little movie.

Moon - 7,5/10

A bit of a strange one really, not much happens but it's still interesting to see it all unfold.
Gives an interesting, and probably accurate view on human cloning

The Final Destination - 2/10

the first 3 weren't exactly good movies, but this is just bad. horrible cgi, awful acting and a non-existent story.

wonderful!

only watched the 2d version ;)

might save it a bit, but the cgi in 2d was, even compared to part one of 2000, just plain bad.

plus they sort of gave away how people would die in the "visions" the main character had, taking away a lot from what the other movies had (surprise moment, not knowing how people would actually be killed)

That German guy is one clever mutherfucker

It made me laugh when he was asking questions about the accident and then asking questions to the "Italians"

funny people 7/10

really not what i expected from a movie featuring adam sandler and seth rogen, but something refreshing i think.

nice one.

I watched that the other night

5/10 from me due to how unrealistic it all ended up

early on it was good but then it just got very stupid

Wife and I over the past couple of weeks have been watching all the Batman movies, culminating with Christian Bale's magnificent first performance, first few up to Batman & Robin are decent, B&R is fucking shit and of course Batman Begins was superb.

Law Abiding Citizen - 8/10

Clever film and kept me interested the whole way through, despite a work colleague pretty much telling me most of the film anyway :CURSE:

Good acting and interesting storyline.

Harry Brown - 9/10

England is a shithole, scallies piss me off, the police are shit for the most part. Very good film but really annoying where it makes you realise the mess we live in.
