Nice plot idea if a little simplistic and a few holes in there, a little too Americanised in the need to explain everything I guess...

Watchmen 8.5/10

Really enjoyed it. Was a bit too long, but I just liked the overall style of it.

Angels and Daemons 7/10

Was good, I like all of the history behind it and the acting was good. But It just didn't grab me that much.
 
i think district 9 has got the potential to be one of the future classics, small budget and a brilliant outcome, very good movie.

in a line with bladerunner etc. for me.

this, basterds and watchmen are my top 3 so far this year
 
I think Up was better than those 3. District 9 is a smart script well done and with great casting and acting. But to put it in the same line with Blade Runner is nothing but heresy!!
 
Up was brilliant, and I'm not a big movie person. :D

Both Up and Coraline were better than most, if not all, "adult" films (not pornos) I've seen this year...

(But then I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds yet and I didn't like District 9 or Watchmen at all, ten minutes in and I was ready to go home)

And I thought it was just me and my workmate who thought Watchment wasn't all it cracked up to be and way overhyped :TU:
 
i think you have to have read the book to like watchmen. its like going to see x-men or spiderman without any knowledge of the characters.

I think if you read and liked the books you would like it less... ;)

Same goes for x-men and defo Spider man, 1 was okish...

I'm just waiting for the glut, now you know who has got Marvel...

i dont know friends of mine who saw it that read the book liked it and the people i know who hadn't read it weren't into it. who knows maybe it was a coincidence but you can understand why id think that.

i think if i didnt know who spiderman was it wouldn't have been near as good, same with x-men. half the fun was seeing the characters that i grew up with being played out in a movie.
 
I think if you read Watchmen and are a fan of comic books (as I am), the film is right and you can admire the work of direction and how the book translates to film.

I always thought those who knew nothing about the comic would get bored to death by the film.

I didn't read the comic and I really liked the film :))
 
That's great! I went with 4 other people to the cinema and the 2 of them that didn't know about the book ended up hateing the film. I guess it's one of those special films that divide the audience.

I liked it and had never heard of it before. It does take awhile to get into but found it a good movie. Although I thought Dr. Manhatten was just too powerfull and kinda made the whole build up / ending a bit pointless. Was all a bit Batman if you get what I mean.

I thought it was typical American wrap it all up in a neat bow with the t's crossed and the i's dotted, as they need everything explaining to the umpth degree over there as they do with most Hollywood.

tbf though if they filmed the screening of Toy Story in an American cinema you'd see them jumping up and down and overreacting like that. I don't know why Americans act like such idiots at the cinema.
 
I saw on TV that people ran out screaming and some even passed out over a film, i think it was the last Saw :LOL:
