The Movies Thread

I liked the whole Planet Terror/Deathproof combo, especially since I was lucky enough to watch both back to back in a special showing with all the adverts at the cinema.

Yea, the car chase is awesome (as is Rose McGowan!).

They are both pretty good 'junky' movies - not gonna win any oscars, but good films to watch if you are a Tarantino fan. Just remember that they are a homage to 70s films, so its not the normal Tarantino fare.

Some upcoming films that look good (some might have already been mentioned before):

Gamer - 4th Sept

District 9 - 4th Sept

Jennifer's Body - 9th October (it's got Megan Fox in it, that's all you need to know)

2012 - 13th November

Ninja Assassin - 27th November

The Book Of Eli - 15th January 2010

The Road - TBA

The Invention Of Lying - TBA

eden lake 9/10

absolutely brilliant movie. i had a feeling it will end brutal. spoiler
if i was the woman i would of personally killed all those kids and showed no remorse whatsoever. in order to survive you have to be brutal yourself!

True, but what with? She was clearly outnumbered and overpowered by the lads there and she didn't have much of a choice but to run to survive. Unless all of a sudden she turned Predator/Rambo and decided to pick them off one by one. Something tells me she didn't have it in her. What a place to live though, they're all murdering scum-bag bastards. Reminds me of a horrible weekend in Bradford.

Thats true but i would not have felt a thing
after i kill one of them by accident. fuck em those fucking bastards. its a movie that will raise your blood pressure for sure. my wife was swearing and shouting during the movie.

Whats bizare is how the fuck did the kids steal the guys car keys where it was apparently right next to the girl lying down? you telling me that the kids sneaked up on her and stole the keys right infront of her?

i know now not to ever go on a holiday in a forest. fuck that

EDEN LAKE Good film but it's really fucking wound me up.
yea same here. great film. watch the last house on the left. similar movie

Can't do with those films TBH, I just get so frustrated I end up turning them off, any film where people do stupid stuff is the same, walk around in the dark, ask "is anyone there", walk back wards, see blood on the floor and still go in with nothing but a faulty flash light...

I know, Nick has gone American on us. Flash light in this thread and the IT crowd coming back in the 'fall' in the Jonathan Creek thread.

District 9 - 9/10.

Didn't know too much about the film other than it had aliens. Was quite suprised at how good it was.

Exactly how I approached the film.

I knew nothing other than it was a relatively small budgeted sci-fi flick with aliens on earth....

Very good watch :APPLAUD:

DISTRICT 9 = 9/10

Funny People

7/10

Liked the film and some good moments in it. But it dragged near the end and that spoilt the film abit (It is a long film). But I did enjoy it.

The Hangover

7.8/10

After hearing so many people say it's the funniest film in ages I was a little disappointed with it. I did like it and laughed out loud at quite a few bits but it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. Alan was by far the best character and I think without him the film wouldn't have been half as good.

District 9

Not perfect (the CGI are strange, because of a lot of blur), but a solid entertainement.
I found the theme very interesting and Sharlto Copley was amazing as Wikus.

8+/10

National Treasure - 8/10
Fun film with a very cool script. Cage is the man.

National Treasure 2 - 6/10
A bit ridiculous and stupid plot, but cage is still the man.

District 9 - 9/10. Brilliant, loved it and really well done. Main character didnt half sound Scouse when he said fuck tho

District 9 - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed it. Really liked the guy playing Wikus (loved his SA accent) and really liked Christopher too. The weapons were pretty cool and the story was just so well done.

District 9 - 8.5/10

Yeah I agree with that rating Milanista, it was a really enjoyable film. I watched it tonight with the family and everyone thought it was excellent.
