The Movies Thread

i love blade runner and i enjoyed space odyssey but i didnt understand the last half hour either.

haha at no soul though, i got a chuckle out of that.

Bladerunner.
I've never seen it before and almost wish I hadn't bothered. I've always heard it's amazing and a classic but I just felt lost throughout. I get the storyline, I kind of get what was going on but then at the same time I was always a little confused and what was going on and why things were happening.

Then I watched 2001 space odyssey.

I loved the first erm.. hour or 2? Basically right up until the last 20 minutes when it became very weird. I'd love to see the main story picked up by someone else who doesn't just throw colour in your face and then say THE END. The idea of finding something on the moon is a great one and It's really surprising that no one else has taken that and made another film with it.

Your post is heretic. If the good old Henry VIII was here you would have your deserved punishment. :R1

Xmen 2 (BD) - 9/10

If only Bryan Singer didn't have a love affair with Superman we would have got a much better third film.

Having said that Brett Ratner did a decent job considering the circumstances, change of director two or three times, short time to plan etc.

EDIT: Vicky Cristina Barcelona (BD) - 8.5/10

Someone needs to drum into Woody Allen that 2.0 mono audio in 2009 is unacceptable!

public enemies - 8/10

little slow (might've just been because i was tired) but really interesting story and well acted. michael mann has a weird home video like shooting style hes picked up for his last few pictures. its not really the way he moves the camera, its just how the film looks itself.

Bronson (2009)

7/10

A little weird in parts but strangely enough I really enjoyed it. Bronson was mad as a hatter.

It has 3 years or so but a friend lended it to me in Blueray so I enjoyed the high quality of sound and image and the poor quality of script...

I don't think I'm going to see Next. The film I liked the past week was "Let the right come in". Not a great film but very interesting and with some very good moments. 7.5/10 I would say.

On the other hand, I've watched "The pale rider" (3rd time) and "The wild bunch" (maybe it's the 7th time) and how I miss those great movies from the 70s - early 80s...

@ Nick,

It's ridiculous isnt it the Knowing finish. Pissed me right off when I watched it a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, they always seem to rush through the first part of stuff like this and kill the suspense; then literally shaft half of it, by over doing the ending and spelling out every part of the film to people like they are too thick to get it...
