The Movies Thread

First: "There will be blood" is an absolute masterpiece!

Watched Coraline, would give it a 7.75/10. Quite interesting, well developed and solid characters. I didn't watch it with 3d glasses, though, so it could have been even better.

Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince - 7/10

Not bad, it's not really an action-packed story anyway but it felt like they missed LOADS out of the book this time, and I can hardly remember the book.

Dumbledore drinking the water was really poor and it was a lot more in-depth and pivotal in the book than made out in the film

Probably the last time I'll go to the cinema with my unlimited card though, I'll cancel it at the end of the month. It's just no fun trying to watch a film while someone is coughing at least every 20 seconds, people are chatting away throughout, and rustling sweet bags all the time :SHAKE:

And some woman thought it'd be a good idea to bring a kid into an 11pm showing of a film, the kid was probably aged around 4-5 years old and was clearly tired, ended up screaming out crying halfway through the film.

Could have used subtitles though, I felt very American listening to that ;)

Maybe I've spent too long in Sweden listening to perfect, clear English being spoken ;)

Oooh I've got that from Tesco rental to watch over this weekend, I'm glad it's been approved. ;)

Its a sad story, very good performances all round.

i had it around here for months now, not motivated to watch it - sad story, a real drama? fantasy? real story? i never bothered reading anything about it that might spoil me cause i heard it actually is pretty decent :p

Its a drama and a true story.

Has anyone seen Year One?

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Happy happy, joy joy / 10.

(9)

bruno - 9/10, for the type of movie it was it was great. i can see how people would be uncomfortable with it, theres a lot of dick.

Duplicity - 7,5/10

Has a somewhat Ocean's Eleven type feeling, decent story and acting but it's never really, really funny. Which would have been nice for a comedy. Pleasant.

Bladerunner.
I've never seen it before and almost wish I hadn't bothered. I've always heard it's amazing and a classic but I just felt lost throughout. I get the storyline, I kind of get what was going on but then at the same time I was always a little confused and what was going on and why things were happening.

Then I watched 2001 space odyssey.

I loved the first erm.. hour or 2? Basically right up until the last 20 minutes when it became very weird. I'd love to see the main story picked up by someone else who doesn't just throw colour in your face and then say THE END. The idea of finding something on the moon is a great one and It's really surprising that no one else has taken that and made another film with it.
