The Movies Thread

The version of Soulwax' DVD that i bought has two DVD's in it. One concentrates (more) on live on the road and the other on the music. I think that is a special version only available in Belgium (there is also a live CD in this package). So i'm not sure which one you watched...

Oh, I didn't know there was a 2-disc edition. I watched a 69 minute long DVD (which apparently is the same version I've ordered from Amazon) and besides live footage there were also lots of interviews, not only with Soulwax but also with people like James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Nancy Whang or Erol Alkan.

The Dark Knight (BD) - 10/10

The IMAX scenes are incredible and the aspect ratio changing didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

I really need to watch Spirited Away. I started to watch it a while back but wasn't really in the mood for it at the time :(

I watched Wanted last night, good surprise it was. I'd heard the film was utter crap but it turned out to be pretty good actually. Stunning effects there too.

American Gangster Extended Version (BD) - 10/10

EPIC.

Saw V

Not as bad as I expected it to be.
The franchise could end with this one, but no. Money, money, money....

6/10

American Gangster Extended Version (BD) - 10/10

EPIC.

was sooo disapointed with this!

i thought this would be the first proper "black" gangster film..

scorcese should have done it!

but no, denzel had to share the film with crowe and ended up being a snitch!

does the "extended version" offer anything different?

It adds 18 extra minutes but apart from the the extra scenes at the end of the film I didn't notice any other new scenes and I did see the original at the cinema. I was very engrossed in the film whilst watching it maybe thats why.

It clocks in at almost 3 hours

Wall-E (BD) - 9 maybe 10/10

Amazing film, I'm glad I didn't see it at the cinema.

Finally watched Step Brothers and Tropic Thunder
They were both funny but nowhere near Anchorman,

Who was that kid stabbing Speedman at the end of Tropic Thunder?
Was that "his son"? Absolutely hilarious moment.

Yeah good film Dags. I'd only give it a 7/10 though. As soon as I found out what Eagle Eye actually was it kind of ruined it for me, the film seemed to drop a bit from then on. Great action in the first half though.

Watched "The Road To Perdition" again tonight. What a fantastic film 8.5/10. Love the imagery and the setting of the film. Great story and a great cast too. Worth checking out if you haven't already.

Watched 'Meet Dave' last night and thought it was great but it did have 2 moments that left me annoyed.

1 - A meteorite smashes through this kids window and ends up in his fish-bowl. His mum comes in and thinks some kids have thrown a baseball so the kid tells his mum it wasn't them it was this meteorite from space. He keeps telling her and telling her until she walks out doing the 'kids and their imagination' line. And then the kid turns back to the fish-bowl where the rock is.... but why the fuck didn't he just show his mum the fish-bowl!?

2 - Later he's in a class room and a bull steals the rock from him - Dave comes and he takes the boy from his classroom and asks where the rock is, the kid says some bully took it then the school bell goes and Dave asks 'where is he' and the kid says 'I don't know, he might be at this place'. BUT... they were JUST in the class room together and the bell had JUST rang!

WTF!?

Other than that it was really funny - Eddie Murphy was great

Damn the plot-holes in these serious documentaries ;)

I found "Meet Dave" really stupid even for kids. It's not worst than Pluto Nash, but it's very close... 2-3 jokes are good, but the rest is painful to watch.

Eddy Murphy should stop acting like he said or avoid "Disney" comedies.
