Karate Kid - 7/10

Awesome performance by Jaden Smith, but that's kinda expected. Film was a fair bit too long though, especially as it's really aimed at a younger audience and their attention span isn't going to be great.

Jackie Chan is just a cool dude :)

Ali - 6/10

Bit of a tit really, wasn't he? Anyway, interesting film but again it was too long. Smith did a great job, with the voice especially, but everything else just didn't seem right. Didn't enjoy the boxing scenes, it kept switching the camera up and changing to closing right in where you couldn't make out anything.

The Experiment - 9/10

Very cool, clever and thought-provoking movie. The idea was interesting, the way it was carried out was interesting but ...

Fuck! I'd have lost it way before it all kicked off! When they started pissing on the guy, that would've been it!

Really makes you realise what a mess humans are and the mentality that we have and the way we live. Very good film.

Machete - 8.5/10

good mix of humor & gore. some nudity thrown in aswell.
i always liked Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and that Lohan chick anyways.

'Frank Lapidus' on the big screen!

Just watching 500 Days of Summer for the first time. Didn't catch the start but will probably watch it all at some point 'cause the DVD is in the house.

From what I've determined so far, this is basically what my summer has been, and it's ended badly in real life. I'm assuming this one has a proper Hollywood ending though.

I'm even called Tom. Strange.

Actually enjoying it and it's relevance though.

Predators = 2/10

Absolutely bloody awful....

Attempts to 'borrow' ideas and set-pieces from Arnies Predator rather than creating new ones for itself... The film has no identity.... I expected it to be fun and thrilling... dull and limping is more apt

Finally got round to watching 4 Lions last night.

I'm a big fan of Chris Morris, aaaallll the way back to before he was even on TV, writing and starring in On The Hour (which became The Day Today on BBC2). And then obviously his involvement in Partridge and then BrassEye and Jam.

But I thought this was really poor. Didnt laugh once and it was just stupid all the way through. Didnt get attached to any character, the 'story' was very weak (surely the big story is what happened in Pakistan?) and it just fell apart at the end - if you excuse the pun!

4/10

Agreed - I turned it off after 50 minutes. All my friends had been raving about it and I just didn't get it. Didn't find any of it funny.

Sorry, I missed your post. It's nothing like Species and Alien because it's got nothing to do with an Alien. it's actually more to do with morality and human cloning, and is no where near as scary. I think its interesting... because its different. But loads of people seem to think its total shit or think its pretty cool.

Anyway, last night I watched the Social Network - 9/10. Poor acting at some points, but it was very well done and I thought Trent Reznor did great for the soundtrack.

Looking forward to seeing that, Stef. How much of it is based on reality and how much is artistic licence though?

Deliver Us From Evil = 9/10

Incredibly moving domcumentary about a catholic priest and the catholic churchs numerous attempts to cover up his ugly acts of raping children...

A real tough one to watch but it makes intense viewing.
