The Movies Thread

Hmm I've not seen Six Degrees, I might look it up.

It's nothing like any of his other films though so don't be too disappointed if it's not your cup of tea. Some people love it, some people hate it, especially the way it ends. I liked it though, he really pulled off a great performance in his first serious film.

I knew will smith could act from the moment i saw an episode of fresh prince of bel air where his real dad showed up in the episode.

Nope im being serious, go watch that specific episode and you'll see. his performance on that was briliant

I know that episode well mate. There's quite a few episodes in that same season that tackled some serious issues and he nailed the performances. It'd be nice to see Will do another decent film that shows off his ability with a good storyline and characters like those mentioned above, instead of crap like Hancock and the in-development Men in Black 3 :(.

I guess he's priming Jayden up to take his place in the near future though, and he'll concentrate more on producing or directing. Shame.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Epic. Haven't laughed at a film that hard in forever. It grabbed the geek in me, gave it a pound and let me run riot on the arcade machines; all wrappd up in a brilliant storyline.

Wasnt 'Where the day takes you' his first film, be it only a supporting role?

Yeah I believe so, more of a supporting role though wasn't it? I always believed that film was focused more on Sean Astin the chap who played King and that other girl (can't remember the names). Great film though.

While were talking actors who do you lot think are the cream of the crop?

Denzil Washington and Di Caprio are in my top 10 that's for sure

Then you got Will Smith and the Di Niro/Pacino sytle actors, Hanks and Pitt and you cant forget Morgan Freeman just because of Shawshank Redemption :)

Samuel L Jackson is good to watch as well

Hmm same as you really. Denzil, Di Caprio, Freeman, Jackson and Will Smith are probably my top actors.

Steve Carrell is good, and I'll possibly be controversial and say I think Nicholas Cage is good as well.

Yeah i never really included guys that mainly do comedy, i could reel off loads of comedic actors that make me laugh every time i see them in a film.

The older lot Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, John C Reilly, Owen Wilson, then more recently Seth Rogen, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel i could go on and on.

Nicolas Cage is in some decent films but i'm not sure his acting is the best i just thought of some else as well who's similar but its gone

Robert Di Niro and Al Pacino are my favourite actors of all time. You've pretty much covered the cream of the crop in terms of male film actors right there. However, you're missing Mel Gibson, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner and Dustin Hoffman IMO.

There's no shame in liking Nicholas Cage, he's been in some good films. Con Air, Face/Off and The Rock are my favourite Cage films growing up.

Good Night, And Good Luck (BD) - 7.5/10

Decent film.

Takers

7/10

Decent film with some great actions but also a few scenes where I felt it was just rushed. Never thought I'd see so many music artists in the same film.

The Usual Suspects (1995) 9/10
Heat (1995) 9/10

Two classics in the same year
Just saw that Se7en was in that same year, the 90s had some great action/crime flicks, underrated decade!
