The 'Become A Legend' Discussion Thread

No, it's not, it's very playable at top player. I get my share of games as a starter, i'm now at the end of my first season. Can't wait to get decent stats...

what are you talking about ive been playing top player for 7 seasons...read my other posts where i state it many times...i think i said back then that top playe is too hard..but you gain experience from a tactical point of view...and now that my stats are good...im feling like ive really achieved something by playing on top player and winning tophies after 5/6 years:APPLAUD:

btw the "roullete" move from zidane, is it possible to teach it your own player? maybe getting higher technique?

By the way I made a new player today. Striker this time and a different difficulty. Got a 7.5 rating in the scout match and I'm at Real Betis. I compared my growth curve with my other player and they were exactly the same. So I don't think the scout match effects anything but which clubs you get.

Ok, this is my first post on here.

I am playing for IFK Gothenburg, and am just into my 3rd season. I've won the league twice, and the World Cup as well, despite only being 19 - I'll post career details later. I created myself as a Second Striker, but signed a contract as a CF and that is where I have been playing.

For BAL mode, these are my top tips, from what I've experienced so far:

Training/Strengthen
- Early in your career, use the strengthen option to put the maximum 6 points in whatever the key attribute is for your position.
- As your secondary attribute (if it isn't your key attribute), put at least 3/4 points in Stamina. Because you start off with only 4 fitness, its really important to build this up so that you can last in games.
- Once you've built up your key attributes to a decent level, change your training focus to become a more rounded player.

Starting League
- Don't start off at a team like Man Utd or Arsenal, even if you support them - you'll never get into the team.
- I created a League with only teams from the "Others" section. For your starting division I'd suggest either doing this or choosing the Eredivise.
- Whichever clubs give you offers, choose the worst of the three teams to join - you're more likely to get into the 1st team earlier, which is absolutely key for BAL mode.
- If you get in the first team at a club early in your career, DON'T MOVE for at least a couple of seasons, until you've built up your stats to a decent level. You'll have to start from scratch with the training matches again.

Match tips
- Where possible, go up for corners, even if you're not a striker. Always shout for the ball as soon as possible, and then make a run towards the near post. Despite having poor aerial attributes, around 1/3 of all the goals I've scored have been direct from corners.
- Manage your condition - check your condition and stamina levels before games start. If your stamina starts off quite low, go back to the main BAL menu and then choose "Skip match" - you still get your training points and will be fresher for the next matches

My key questions for others who have played the mode are:
- Has anyone got a condition/fitness greater than 4? Mine is still at that level after two full seasons of starting every match and its quite frustrating.
- Special attributes - does anyone know if these are random or if you actually have to achieve certain things to get them? I seemed to get the "Scoring" attribute after the first season and was then scoring goals for fun, but after my second season haven't got any additional attributes.

Any help appreciated.

WHAT!!!???

I'm just about to be at the half way point of my fourth season, and on the main page it says THAT I'VE ANNOUNCED MY RETIREMENT AT THE END OF THE SEASON!!!!

Can I change that from happening? Has this happened to anyone else?

Quick info, I'm on my fourth season, having a great one, and I didn't choose to retire at all. I'm only 20!

Please any help would be beneficial. I want to know if I should even bother finishing this season.

UPDATE
So I decided to not save and replay my last match...turns out afterwards now another player on the team (Hamsik for Napoli) now is announcing his retirement...

Still wondering if the computer can just decide when you retire, or if it is just a stupid highlight thing on the screen and doesn't actually happen.

I would be extremely disappointed if the computer could just decide for you.

Mansouri finally settled.
He's currently in Nantes.
I thought this may have been a huge mistake because St-Etienne was interested in the mid-season transfer window. St-Etienne wante to use Mansouri as CMF-AMF-SS. I decided to wait a couple of weeks to see if there were no other interesting offers, but after two weeks, St-Etienne was no longer interested and i had to chose for Nantes or Le Havre...i decided to go to Nantes and this turned out to be a very good choice.
Rigth from the first training match things went good.
Mansouri is a regular starter now. He plays as CMF (on the left side) and can play very well together with Klasnic who plays LFW. Mansouri scored a couple of goals and was two times Man of the Match...i've had a tough start but now in his second year things are going fine...

LOL retirement at 20 years hahaha.. maybe you drove of a cliff on your way back home from a match ;)

Anyway, I would like to know how to get special attributes as well. I've just got my 1st one in my 4th season (1 on 1 shot). I have no idea if it gives my any advantage?

Hi guys, good stories on here

Just a quick question, i only play on professional mode, and at the end of every game, i only get strength experience points, i never get match experience points (red ones). When do you start getting these points? or am i doing something wrong?

No idea how you get them, they just seem to appear. My guy got a tick for errrrm response?? the other day.

whether they help or not is interesting. Obviously it means your quality in that part of your game. But whether the special attribute improves your ability even more I don't know. I would assume it does.

Thanks for tips mate. Unfortunately I haven't got an answer for your questions but I will keep an eye out.

One tip from me; regardless of your position, always at least try to close down the opposition when they have the ball. My rating always seems higher when I chase and harangue the opposition, even if I rarely win the ball.

ill try answer some questions that ive seen.

firstly i don't think you can get a higher condition/fitness than 4..everyone starts off the same...in a way i don't think that could be determined on how you play in the 1st match.

i got my 1st special attribute in my 6th season (playing on top player) the dribbling one...which was nice to see...as i was always weaving in and out and doing shot dummys. i just got the scoring special attribute yesterday. i scoredat least one goal in my last 7 matches...3 being international in which i scored a hattrick.

i think i should get the post player one too...i deserve it lol maybe later as i win many heaers...scoring from corners, freekicks and just in genreral...cant wait to start posting goals.

Just got nominated for European Footballer and World Footballer of the year, didn't get the awards but made the Euro and World Best 11's, which are nice, lol.. 23 years of age now, having by far my best season, team isn't doing well as last year though. I feel like I'm the one saving the team, even though we have stars like Eto'o, Owen, Joaquin, Henry, Messi, Xavi, İniesta, Crosas, Bojan Krkic. Messi is pretty much the only player playing good, but is not getting any playing time at all, don't know why. Most of the team is pretty damn old now, I definitly think they should be replaced. I'm gonna move if I get an offer from ManU, maybe Liver or Real Madrid, Barça is kinda boring me now.

And a tip for starters, always give Stamina 6 bars in strength, trust me you're gonna need it if you don't want to be subbed at the 70th minute every game. I watched my national team lose to Italy in the World Cup Semi-Finals, we were ahead 1-0 with my goal at min 70, lost in penalties after I got subbed, extremly dissapointing in my end.

Also I find playing as CMF pretty good, since you don't get a lot of attention on attack, and have a lot of guys to give you through balls. Best of all in defence and offense you're always involved so your fellow players can annoy you less when you have a chance to make up for their artificial intelligence.

I have a few questions to ask to people who played multiple seasons:

- Is the growth curve any important? That is, do your stats automatically rise, without the effect of training or match experience? (As with Master League players)

- When you get older, does the training efficiency change? Do you still get 12 strength points, which help your stats 2 points each?
http://tweakers.net/ext/f/jH5aEEUYD9Zw5g5e5wPkZOrl/full.jpg

- When you really get old, when your growth curve begins to decline, do your stats decrease automatically?

- What is the difference if you create a player who is 2.10m tall, and another one who is 1.45m tall? It is obvious that the tall guy will be better on aerial challenges, but will he lose more balls and have less control over his legs? Then, why not choose Crouch-like players all the time, instead of Maradona-like ones?? :)

Any response appreciated,
Thanks

ok ill try to answer your questions.

-if there are no strength points on a particualar attribute...it would not raise at all...for example if you put 6 on stamina and 6 on balance...none of your kicking attibutes would improve. makes sense though...if you go to football training in real life and you work on the treadmill...you wouldn't expect to be able to shoot better...if you do...i want your treadmill!!!

-im in my 7th season and i dont think you get any more than 12 strenght points to play with..which is sufficient enough if you think about what you need for your position.:))

-im not that old my stats are decreasing...NOOO!!!

-as for Lanky or small players...i think it affects how much agility your player has (i could be wrong)...the attribute technique governs how well your 1st touch is.

hope that helps.

Is there any way to change yer player's physique? This is because I made my player as big and as tall as I was during 17, but now I've bulked up and grew a bit...Don't tell me I'm trapped in a 17 year old boy's body until my retirement :S

Nope can't hehe. You only can give yourself other accecoires etc

Does anybody know what are those blue circles with numbers beside our player's name?

p.s.: Before I get told to read the manual, mine is in german :(

During a match if you press start and go to your formation screen. Then go down one to something like "Tactics" and it will have the tactics listed 1-4 and what each number means. You can also check this before a match on the formation screen menu.

I think that's right...

hmm try toying around in exhibtion, go set the strategy. the menu where u can set (A) (B) (X) (Y) for each set of strategy/this is for xbox360 controllers
and when yer in game u press RT+one of those buttons.

I remember in a previous version of PES, if u set lets say, "(Y)" button as offside trap, when yer playing against an opponent(be it CPU or Player), u can manually control the offside trap by pressing RT+(Y).

hope u understand, in other words, its like changing shape of the formation/strategy in real-time.

In BAL its completely irrelevant.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the whole thing. :)

I just wanted to know how it worked in BAL, since we can't control it and the symbols are different (in PS3 the strategies symbols in a normal match are square, circle and so on, but in BAL the symbols are different)
