The 'Become A Legend' Discussion Thread

hehe, I've made the transfer to PSG on my 3rd year. Spent the last two seasons at Bologna(couldn't get the ball, only managed 3 appearances, was a horrible experience) and Nice(played quite decently but felt the team lacked ambition). Got pissed because the gaffer would always substitute me even when I'm playing well. So far its going brilliantly for me in PSG scored a total of 21 goals(5 deflected goals mind you :D) in all competitions, currently we're 5th in the French Ligue and we're in the Euro Masters final after owning Liverpool and Valencia(all dramatic wins btw)

cheers

Nice stats Karmam. Quite similar to mine, I'm 22 as well playing on top player.

I have the same problem with some team mates. Although I find it really does depend on the quality of the player. For instance Wesley Sniejder will play difficult through balls to me with some success. But Diaby (Arsenal) is a greedy sod and never passes to me. I hate it when he plays :(

As for being subbed. I think my stamina is 85ish and I get subbed at the 80 min mark these days. So I play most of the match and I'm also rested much better at Arsenal than I have been at other clubs previous. I will be rested in a cup game and brought back fully fit for the league match...not that it's helping our league form :P shocking season currently underway at Arsenal :(

OMG...i just won the european footballer of the year....it was amazing...they do something that i aint gonna say...because it will spoil the experience for you....i never expected it...i am over the moon...it makes it even more sweeter that im playing on Top player

All i won my previous year was the league and d1 cup in my 1st season with a bolton team with many newcomers such as Kaiser...so the team was awesome...

we also one european team of the year.

we just beat liverpool in our 1st ever european group stage match 1-0.

im in my 7th season now =)...bout time im winning things...sorry about size but you can just about make out words and trophies :)

i envy you because your at my team Arsenal...they still won't come for me but im actually supporting Bolton now in the game lol...i can see myself retiring here lol.

Thanks, though even though my favourite Euro club, Barcelona doesn't have an AMF position available and it's difficuilt for me to join attacks and still do my job as CMF, infact I had big dilemma when I got the offer from Barcelona when I was in Valencia, actually had to think on it for an hour, Valencia gave me the AMF position with 3 strikers in front of me which made my job incredibly easy. I would've rejected Real Madrid but couldn't reject Barça as I set it as my goal when first starting the game.

I don't really see it, most of the players attempt what we call as L1+V but only in a certain position which makes it no different from the normal through pass which in most cases would be more efficient compared to the air pass. I'm hopeless since players like Xavi, İniesta, Messi etc can't do special tricks.

And another thing, I work for about 20 matches to be a regular in the first team but it takes 2 bad matches to get me out of the team. I had 1 game with a rating of 6.5 in which I scored btw. The other game I started as a sub (couldnt've been to rest me because the manager rested me just before that 6.5 game) , I got on at the 80th minute, only got 1 ball, lost it and got a rating of 5.0. After that we had a match with Real Madrid in which the ref gave me a direct red card for a tackle in midfield (not last man, not from behind), got another 5.0 rating then bam, I'm out of the squad. Same thing happened in every team I went to, 3 bad games and they don't care what you've done until that point.

Halfway through my third season now on BAL, still loving it. The game keeps surprising me, just when I think it's getting dull something special happens.

My WF saw out his first season at West Brom and was a regular starter by the end of the year. When an offer from Wigan came in I decided to take it... BIG mistake...

Wigan were pap, proper blood and guts football, no real skills in the team, all set pieces and headed goals. West Brom were humble but they could at least hold their own. I was missing Greening's and Kim Do-heon's silky distribution. Plus Henri Camara is a wanker, I swear he didn't give me one pass.

I managed to work my way into Wigan's first eleven and lay on a few assists. By the time the transfer window came around I was eager to leave, but the offers were uninspiring. Finally, in the third week, I got an offer from Newcastle to play SMF/CF who were 3rd in the league and still in the Cup. Deal.

Back to training and it quickly became clear that I had my work cut out. In retrospect, it was ambitious to say the least for my 18 year old player to try to dislodge Mickey Owen, Martins or Mark Viduka from the starting eleven. Ambitious so it proved as I toiled in the reserves. I did manage a few bench appearances as a central striker, but my player's lack of brawn left me ill suited to the role. Three bench apps later and come the end of the year, disaster, Newcastle tell me to pack my bags.

The offers were again uninspiring. I considered Middlesbrough, but decided to hold out until the last day of the transfer window. On the last day there was one offer, Willem II of the Eredivisie wanted me as a SMF/CF for the coming season. Not exactly what I had in mind but needs must, I'm off to Holland.

It's been a really pleasant surprise that I'm now playing the best football of my short career. I went straight into the 1st eleven as a right winger in a five man midfield. Willem also signed Simone Perrotta from Roma at the same time as me (!?) and while his stats have fallen away somewhat, he's still a stand out player in the side and I've laid off a few for him already. The midfield is actually pretty good, defence and strikers are awful, but it makes for decent possession football in our five man midfield.

I've never been a prolific scorer (about 6 career goals so far!) but I did crack in the winner from the edge of the area in a 1-0 victory over Roda JC. I'm assist leader at the club, and we've managed league victories over both PSV and Feyenoord, and held Ajax to a 1-1 draw. Loving it in Holland so far, starting every game and stats are now approaching respectable levels.

On my game Arsenal have Kaiser. So I too am progressing along with him, both 22. Battling for a top 6 finish with 3 games to go this season:CURSE: Not a good defense of the title. Just lost in the semi's of the league cup to spurs as well:RANT:

I will try and get some pics up of my guy later.

Joystick, the goals will come.

Karmam I suppose thats one of the bad things about playing CM, you may see alot of cards which damage your rating.

Not really, 6 seasons ; 3 yellow+1 red card XD. Though you're right, if you do make a sliding tackle it's gonna be a yellow card unless you're lucky, so I don't use the sliding title unless I absolutly have to. The cards get really annoying in ML though.

Nicely done Casartelli, now for my attempt.

Crap images :D but heres my guy at the end of his 6th season. Stats are pretty even, my shot stats are around 75. He's a lefty but plays on the right of midfield.

I've been playing this lately as I thought it sounded fantastic, My conclusion is so far that the mode is great but also very stupid. In BAP your already given everything on some what of a plate, first team, never subbed which is a bit easy, while in PES its your a reserve player, then a bench warmer and then a starter.

The AI in BAP is absolutely brilliant, your really only 1 player and thats your job, everyone else in your team does theres, in PES I find the whole team relies on you, without you , they wont create, you have to go back into midfield/defence to pick up the ball as they'll just pass it across there back 4 for 90 minutes, if your having a crap match the team is...which is very fustrating. Hopefully the AI improves when I get to a big club...but my conclusion so far is BAL with FIFA's AI/Gameplay would be amazing. hopefully both games sorts out there weakness's.

Not that it means a lot, and I'm sorry if it appears as hijacking the thread with negativity, but that's how I feel as well. I read some of the stories in here and think "right, I'm playing this again tonight", but the AI just infuriates me. The times I'll see a player running into a good position, then he'll just stop, and turn around, and run away!

It looks and sounds great, all of the things you can achieve in it make it sound like the mode of my dreams. I just can't stand the gameplay as much as I try to love it.

The AI can certainly be frustrating. It does help being at a big club, it also helps when you become more accustomed to the mode. It will frustrate, but when it works...brilliant.

I don't think its true that the team plays badly when you do. If your at a bad team and don't see much of the ball in a game it can appear that way though. But the Arsenal team I'm at can play fine without my help. Although they play much better with me involved :P haha I like to think they do at least.

I see what you guys are saying though.

Fair enough. I also get pissed by the A.I thats why I switched to many clubs until I found a club which I thought had the most decent A.I for teammates.
I also noticed the more goals or assist u have, the more and more yer A.I teammate tries to pick you out. I find myself dropping deep instead of staying out wide.
But there are times where the teammate A.I just can't seem to get out of me fooking way when i'm about to shoot, colliding and spinning(i hate the spinning animation, it happens too much, u even spin if u collide with the ref).

hey all, i player on top player btw its the only level to use as the a.i is soooooooooo much better.

a couple of questions to other ppl:
1. my fk and swerve is 82 and i have never took a free kick near the box has anyone?
2. do you ever score a few, get a rating of 8 and get left out for the next match?
3. anyone noticed when the computers shots go in they sometimes go through the keeper as if he is a ghost?

2. yeah, sometimes, usually when form is bad (black or blue arrow)

nope miro they stay the same i think everyone has those stats the same lol

im just happy i won the league after 5 yearrs of persistance. TOP PLAYER is too hard.....

No, it's not, it's very playable at top player. I get my share of games as a starter, i'm now at the end of my first season. Can't wait to get decent stats...

YoungGun_UK - Which club are you playing for? I found to my pleasant surprise that it really does make a difference who you are playing with.

I transferred from Wigan to Newcastle (who are a top four team in my BAL... I know) and the difference was marked. Wigan never gave me the ball and constantly hoofed it up field. I never made it at Newcastle, but they stroked it around in training and generally gave me the ball when I wanted it.

If you are just starting out then you'll probably have to put up with a ropey team, for at least half of the first season. It's worth it! That, I suppose, would be my only real criticism of this game; it starts very slowly. But having said that, it is realistic as making it as a footballer is a slow process! Perhaps for next year they should have the option of setting your starting age, so you don't have to start right from the beginning each time?

My two cents

There is nothing better than finding a club your comfortable with buddy. ;0)

Ok a quick update and whats been happening with my career ...........

After having a fantastic 4th season as a CF with Napoli and scoring 15 goals I decided to sign another 1 year contract. I was having another cracking season and by the time the midway negotiations came around I had equalled last seasons goal haul already. As well as taking Napoli up to 3rd in Seria A. We were playing some beautiful football and I just couldnt stop scoring. So the big question, should I stay ? or move to a bigger club if offered ?

I was thinking that since I now have my Xbox360 version fully modifed with Damos's excellent option file and all the correct kits, that a move back to the Premiership would be a great idea. It was always my intention to move back home after a spell in Italy and now seemed like the perfect time. Napoli had just been knocked out of the Champions league and I was beginning to feel I'd taken them as far as I could.

With no offers from any English clubs in the transfer window I decided to take the Juventus offer that was on the table. Although I was very reluctant to leave Napoli half way through the season, I felt that I'd have a better chance of securing a move to one of the Premiership 'big guns'if I was at a bigger Italian club. When I moved to Juventus they were 11th in the league. I must admit my head ruled my heart with the decision to leave Napoli. And although I was successful at Juventus taking them to 4th in the league, scoring 10 goals, collecting 10 Man of the match awards and 2 most impressive player accolades, I still missed the free flowing football of Napoli. For whatever reason I just didnt feel comfortable at Juve and in some ways really regretted my decison to leave Naples.

I finished my 5th season with 25 goals and 7 assists, I was very happy with that. I was hoping a top Premier League team would make me an offer in the transfer window, and they did. ;0)

In the first week though I had offers from Hull City and West Brom ? Yeah right. 2nd week, same again !! WTF ??

3rd week 7 offers !! Waheey !! With Arsenal and Inter Milan leading the charge for my signature. This is more like it. I must admit I really considered Inter due to the fact they have Zlatan ( One of my favourite players ) and the fact they had been outstanding all season. Then I almost opted for Arsenal, before gambling on week 4.

4th week, 6 offers, including Chelsea, but that was all I needed to see, so I packed my bags and headed to the Bridge with Big Phil and Co. Now although I have read on here that people have transferred to new teams and had to go back into training, I have always made the bench straight away when I had moved clubs, for Boro, Napoli and even Juve. So to go back into the reserves with Chelsea was a bit of shock, but I loved that fact I had to prove myself again. Class.

Chelsea's squad was awesome by the way, they had only lost Ballack, but aquired Rooney, Van Persie and Babel to name a few. This was going to be tough getting into this side, but I welcomed the challenge. After two good performances in training with the B Team, I was still no closer to the bench. My B team was as good as any first team I'd played in, and I had Rooney as my strike partner and Van Persie, Joe Cole, Kalou, etc etc.

The problem I was having was that I couldnt seem to score past Cech. I kid you not, he was frightening, and denied me at least 4 certain goals. I was thinking, fook me Peter, its only training, gimme a fooking break already. In the 3rd training game Cech saved another sure fire goal from myself that resulted in a corner. I scored with a bullet header from 2 yards out. Pick that out of the net you fooker, were my exact thoughts. Lol.

Finally, I made my appearance for the 1st team in training and scored again, this time against the reserve keeper, a little tap in, but enough to get me onto the bench against Liverpool. I was suprised when Big Phil brought me on at the start of the 2nd half. I played ok but didnt score. The following two games I got 20 mins each game and in the LWF position of Chelsea's 3 prong attack. I didnt score and became a little frustrated. I wasnt happy in that position and begged Big Phil for a full 90 minutes in my favoured CF position. He obliged in the next game and I scored my first goal for Chelsea, a stunning dribble and 25 yard rocket into the top bag against my old team, Hull. I scored another cracker in my next start against Spurs and things were looking ok.

I was a starter now, but really wasnt feeling comfortable with the 4-3-3 formation. I played alot better with a support striker, and although the Chelsea AI was amazing, and they were playing some awesome football it still didnt feel right. I then went on a 6 game goal drought, Big Phil stuck with me, but I wasnt happy. I scored a couple more goals to ease the pressure but realised that I needed to play for a team with a 4-4-2 formation. There was only one team I wanted to move to, and I was 'over the moon' when Man Utd came in for me in the transfer window.

I said my goodbyes to Big Phil and the boys, wished them well, and set off in my car to meet Sir Alex, Ronny, Nani and Co. A quick 'alright our kid' in true Liam fashion, and I was Manc through and through and welcomed instantly into the Theatre of Dreams. Sir Alex put me straight on the bench for the next game, and guess who against ? Yep, Chelsea. Class.

We were 1-0 down at half-time to a cracking Rooney strike, typical. The gaffa brought me on with 60 mins on the clock registered. I played a stormer, scored a brilliant header off a corner, then a right footed volley from just inside the box to make it 2-1. It was if my debut was scripted. Unbelievable. The match ended 2-1, Man Utd stayed top of the league, and I got the Man of the Match award, perfect start.

I've played about 4 games since and scored another 3 goals. Man Utd are awesome to play for. They are so direct and consistently pick me out and create so many chances its unreal. Chelsea seemed to pass for the sake of passing, and although it was pretty to watch, Man Utd are on another level. They style suits me down to the ground. We are currently top of the Premier League, in the semi finals of the league cup, and the quarter finals of the Champions league. And I have the World Cup to look forward to at the end of the season as well. Its all good. ;0)

Currently I'm 22 years old and some of my better stats are -

Speed - 90
Acceleration - 88
Shot Accuracy - 89
Shot Power - 78
Shot technique - 88
Stamina - 80
Balance - 70 ( I'm sure this low stat is why I get knocked off the ball so easily )
Dribble accuracy - 68 ( really need to improve this to ).

I really like how each manager is so different, Big Phil had a habit of bringing me off after 65 mins or so. Sir Alex has already given me 3 full games.

To be continued ........

I don't agree with you younggun...
My created player has played for three clubs at the moment.

Grenoble: crap team, last in the league miles behind the rest. My Mansouri was a sort of super sub, had some very good performances but the team was crap.

Toulouse: very good team. They were 4th in te league when Mansouri left them. Mansouri was on the bench most of the time and he came in when the game was played most of the times (he did score he decisive PK in a cup tie with extra time and penalties...which was great).

Nantes: finally the team were Mansouri is doing well. He is a regular starter, but i don't have the impression that it all depends on Mansouri's performances. Mansouri is used as a DMF (and for those who have followed my story about him: he's a very, very lousy tackler...so DMF is a bad position for him). I decided to play very basic, give simple passes, run a lot, avoid tackles and try to win the ball by good placement...and guess what...i love it...so Mansouri has ratings of 6,5 - 7 - 7,5 (but never more) and the team has ups and downs...they loose matches were Mansouri is good and they win matches were he gets a 6 rating...
When i look at the stats some people have, i'm envious...although Mansouri is still only 18 (i do like FIFA too and now the FM demo is out...)i have reasonably high stat: acceleration (81) i have one or two stats in the 70's and the rest is between 60 and 70...
As much as i love the gameplay of FIFA, i think the BAL mode in PES is much more immersive...FIFA missed a chance there to put KONAMI KO...

As a matter of fact, despite all the realism and the superb gameplay, i miss something in the Manager Mode too...i still think individual players feel the same more or less (the difference is clearly bigger than in FIFA08, but it still is too subtle IMHO).

Feeling great, yep the mode needs improvement, but if you consider that this was the start of it, konami can still have a future against EA. Hope they won't rely too much on this, they need to improve constantly and take people suggestions.
Anyway ended my fourth season at Fiorentina with 15 goals and 10 assists playing as right wing, had my chance in the national team, Lippi put me in the bench while they lost against Austria (?!) and then i played a part in the win on Portugal, but blew it in the last match of the group against Belgium, direct red card after 30 minutes and we lost 2-1, goodbye glory dreams.
No good offer on the off season (wonder why as i was in the seasonal top11)
Stayed at Fiorentina and things are looking brilliantly now, 8 games played, 10 goals and 4 assists, top scorer and back to the national team as starting ss, maybe we can overcome AC Milan and win the title, still hoping from offers from big teams in Italy or Premier.
Great story lads keep them coming

Hi All,

New to the site but have been avidly reading all of your 'careers' with a keen interest for a while, finally plucked up the courage to share my career, be gentle...

So here is my story so far... 3 seasons in, on Professional.

I created a young French striker, same sort of physique as Karim Benzema... but with about an eight of his ability.

Ten minutes into his trial I drill a shot past the lackluster goalkeeper, 1-0, I'm thinking... this could be the start of something. The game is 50/50 and to the best of my recollection finishes 2-1, to us.

So, after a successful trial, a 7.0 and a goal, I await my offers, I get three but the choice was between PSG and Nantes. Do I chose the prestigious Parisians or a club I know very little about. I chose Nantes... I don’t know why, more 1st team chances maybe? I check the sides formation, its 4-3-3, with two SS and a CF. So my chances will be good. Though the squad does have 7 strikers, the only ones I've heard of are Klasnic, and Marek Hienz, who is ridiculed later on for every bad pass for being as good as a tin of baked beans.

So season 1... It takes me 6/7 games to break into the squad, and its a struggle, a league campaign where we can draw with Lyon, a side that I aspire to before my big move abroad, hopefully to play along Benzema! But defeats to virtually every team under the sun. The manager persists with me upfront and I start every game from week 10, other than when I drop out due to fatigue. The shocking league form is made to looking even odder by an astounding cup run, where against all odds, and ability, we reach the final, prior to which I'm sitting as the top scorer in the competition. Who do we face? St Ettien. An early goal, from a corner puts as one to the good, and just before half time I receive a glorious through ball after curving my run, I keep a cool head to side foot past the keeper from just inside the box. We go on to triumph 3-1 despite my substitution on the 80th minute mark. The celebrations (on screen and in my bedroom, are wild!) and after leaving the game I am awarded to goal scorer, and accolade I was shocked with in my first season. I finish the season with a respectable 11 goals in all competitions, a cup winners medal and golden boot.

Season 2... I stick with Nantes, no big transfer abroad for me, my stats are some 60s, mainly 70's with a few sporadic 80's Top speed, mentality, aggression and stamina. I have the scoring star though, at 18! I don’t really know how to describe this season... dross would probably be the best word. Another campaign where I am leading the line. Unbelievably another cup run saves the club, reaching the final once more. Alas I'm not leading the scoring charts this time. Here we meet Le Mans, the final had an air of inevitability about it... A bad one. 1-0 down after 18 minutes to a header from a free kick, we create nothing, and I mean nothing. Not even a chance for me to blame myslef for missing. By the time we have reached this final I am already disillusioned with the club, and it looks unlikely I will beat my goal tally from last season. However, I struggle to 12 for the season, and await an offer... any offer!!

Season 3... Offers come in. Going abroad seems likely: Athletico? Well I love Aguero but they finished 19th. Torino? It's Champions League but they're not a big club. I wait it out and then 2 weeks from the end...LYON! Ranked 8th in the world and champions of France, they are untouchable, and make an irresistible offer. I accept. But I'm training for the bench again. About 25 weeks into this season, and it took me about 10 games to get a start, hard work for an average young striker in their training games ( I scored none finding Boumsong a rock! As a Newcastle fan this was very upsetting).
The quality is so much better though, for those reading who are still awaiting a big move, stick it out, when it does come the sighs of relief are unexplainable.
We sit top of the league, about 8 points clear (pretty poor for Lyon I know), we are in the Final of the CL vs Chelsea and won the first leg of the D1 Cup Semi Final. The extra games are benefiting me, with now only the odd 60 and about 6 stats in the 80's, and Top Speed nearing the 90's. I sit top of the League and cup scorers charts, with 19 and 5 goals respectively, with 2 hatricks this season, one of those being a 5 goal haul!! I've even given my player white boots!! I look up to Karim to much I think... Finding goals in Europe harder to come by. The service and quality of play is just such a jump form Nantes and its so refreshing, but Benzema blows hot and cold, I think he resents playing as a winger after my arrival. The dream partnership is more of a Cole and Sheringham affair... but he's still the best player I have played with.
Things can get a little more frustrating when the team doesn’t play to their potential. We are approaching the crunch stage of the season and I’m desperate to win trophies... and international caps, nothing so far from Le Blues.

Sorry for the long post, has anyone else played as a Frenchman found it easier to get capped, do first caps come in friendlies or at tournaments normally? Are there friendlies!!

Cheers guys, great stories.

No friendlies as far as I know! The qualification matches are during the season (3 in the first half and 3 in the second half). The league matches will "move" to the bottom on your calender.
The big tournaments are being played right after the season.

I'm wondering whether your stats go up quicker on the higher difficulty level ? It would make sense, and looking back through the posts it seems to be the common denominator.
