Daniel van Buyten would be a big loss for Hamburger SV of course, but for a decent amount of money he can leave. Everybody is replaceable.

And that replacement could be Vincent Kompany. I remember him being rated as huge talent. I've even heard he soon would sign for a club like Internazionale FC.

According to the official website of the Jupiler League, HSV are willing to play the whole amount of money that Anderlecht are asking (no idea how much), whereas Lyon are "only" prepared to pay 8 million euro.

kel, Kompany is a very intelligent guy, if it's up to him he does not want to guy to (so called) big clubs like Internazionale. He wants to learn and play as much as possible.

In Belgium Kompany is considered (possibly) our biggest talent we ever had (IMHO he's overhyped, but yes he's good) and Daniel Van Buyten is considered an average defender. He rarely played a decent match for our national team (the fact that this very average Belgium team has missed the first WC since 1978 is due to some critical errors by Van Buyten). The strange thing is that Van Buyten is highly rated in every foreign club he played (Marseille, Manchester City and now HSV).

Kompany could develop in a great DMF but last season he was injury prone, he hardly played since new year. To me Kompany is not really a replacement for Van Buyten. His best position is DMF (although he has virtually played every first team match as a CB).
